Arghhhh app only, desktop only, some coupon only, that only this only wtf why make it so complicated.

    • +8

I agree with you completely !!!!!
It's like trying to teach a old dog new tricks

      • +21

We buyers already have the most hardest job, choosing what to buy from those million items on AliExpress, Amazon, eBay, etc. Just give us decent cashback, with the simplest way, least restrictions, less bugs…. That's all we ask… We just want cashback without needing to think hard and to read different conditions each time, and then worry if we will get the cashback or not for the next 2 weeks……

Remember you guys exist to make the shopping experience happier (for buyers). But now, what most people get are confusion, afraid, angry, uncertainty, worry and unhappiness. Wasting your time and our time for asking answering confirming the same things. Gee….

        • +15

Don't look for things to purchase. ;-p

          • Keep a list (ebay watchlist/amazon wishlist/text file on phone or desktop) of things you want to buy.
          • Wait for these deals to appear
          • Buy
          • +16

@GregMonarch: That's all very well and good except it normally goes:

            • Keep a list of things you want to buy
            • Buy
            • Deal appears
            • Search for something new to buy
          • @GregMonarch: Ironically it used to be
            - need a thing
            - buy
            - never worried about price

            now its a
            - need a thing
            - wait for a deal….

            • wait some more

            • buy

            • this should be a negative feedback loop, however
              ITS SO BLOODY ADDICTIVE.

to the point i cant enjoy said thing, unless it was a good buy.

      • +4

Cashbacks are the whole reason I just use websites. I've no idea how and how reliable it is using MULTIPLE mobile APPS and expect to get some magic bonus 3 months later?

I don't even know how exactly to do this.

        • +1

I agree Mobe1969 I would not chance the mobile apps (open one login, activate it launches another one login find product checkout and hope?). I never end up where I want to and fear the cashback will not be tracked. Browser (especially on the Desktop) never lets me down!

      • +7

I got burnt with Shopback: Purchased Dell Vostro around $1900, and their site clearly stated 9% cashback. Initial Cashback $56 and after complaining another $51.
I might not be the best in mathematics, but 9% of 1900 is more around $170.
Shopback not responding to any of my emails and since I had opened a "dispute", I cannot open another dispute under the same OrderId.

        • -2

You are just a drop in the ocean , nobody cares about 1 complaint out of 1000 happy customers

          • +2

@tanastra: Given that whole process is automated, it’s unlikely he’s 1/1000. More likely, others just accept defeat and move on.

        • Rep of Shopback did respond. With them for the time being.

    • +14

The app only/desktop only is to get you to put their software on all of your devices to maximise collection of user data/information.

      • The real answer, surprised you were the only person to mention it.

    • +1

Soon there will be floods of complaints that transactions were not recorded !!! It must be during the marketing meetings that some bored dudes decided this awesome deals !!

  • +3

Is there a activation this time?
Update - i didn't see a activation, cheers dealbot purchase made.

  • Thanks dealbot!!

  • +3

Will this stack with the $2 Bonus Cashback if you spend over $20?

    • +3

Assuming the $2 bonus refers to this, then yes it will stack.

      • +9

So… What are the steps to activate both?

Edit: Well, I hope it was:

        1. Go to the $2 offer here: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/495600 and click "Go to Deal"
        2. Click the "Activate Now" button
        3. Switch the Shopback phone app
        4. Search for Amazon Australia
        5. Click "Promos"
        6. See "Get a $5 Bonus… etc." and click "Go to Deal"
        7. Amazon app opens…
        8. Find item to buy, add it to cart, complete checkout

(Because I've made the purchase, but only the first $2 click to Amazon is showing in my click activity.)

        • Think you got it right. Should track.

        • +2

I have cleared all app open by defaults and shopback app still opens the Amazon links in browser…

          • +1

@Mobe1969: Uninstall and reinstall the Amazon app?
Uninstall both Shopback and Amazon apps then reinstall both?

            • +1

@GregMonarch: Tried it, still not working for me

              • @NiteMice: See obenihk comment further down \/ … (Maybe you have Amazon US installed, not Amazon AU?)

                • @GregMonarch: Tried that, & check the settings.
Only one app shows up in the store for me, and in settings, it has "amazon.com.au" in it's list of default URLs to handle.

                  • @NiteMice: Now you're just being difficult. LOL.

                  • +2

@NiteMice: Given there's quite a number of people struggling to get the Amazon app to open, we have opened the bonus to both Amazon mobile site & app purchases via the ShopBack app.

        • +1

Can also usually just click shop Amazon in the shopback app, no need to specifically click through the deal bit (unless the cashback specifies so, but usually they are about activation)

        • I followed your instructions and this is my first time using either of the apps.

          Hopefully I get the $2+$5
Though I activated the $2 promotion through my computer as I understand it cannot be done on the app then I did everything else on my phone

          • +1

@Sammy Boi: Yeah that's what I did. Computer first for $2, then phone. (Point 3 was supposed to say: "Switch TO the Shopback phone app".)

        • Where are the store apps to confirm your great efforts here ? Maybe store reps not 100 % either ?

        • +1

Your methodology definitely fine, however you won't need to specifically click on the specific "Go To Deal" under "Get a $5 Bonus". Anyhow, we've opened this to Amazon mobile site purchases on the ShopBack app given there were a number having issues with opening the Amazon app.

          • +1

@gotyourback: I'm happy to confirm on an iPhone 5S that is not running the current iOS worked perfectly. this is my first experience using the shop back app or Amazon app and it opened it fine just thought I would confirm that.

Do "Subscribe & Save" purchases count as purchases?

        • I'll like to know this too, as my item says it won't be delivered until Nov 21

        • Answer to your question 🥁

          Cashback is not qualified for:

          • Subscribe & Save purchases
      • Hey rep,

I got some amazon credit in my account from some errors,$5 I think, it seems to auto use credit first.
Is that a problem? Do I need to spend $25 to qualify?

        • Same question

        • +1

          Answer to your question 🥁

Cashback is only payable on order value (excludes taxes, shipping and packaging costs) and is valid on orders paid for with gift cards (not orders with Amazon credit)

        • +1

I THINK someone asked this in a recent thread, and someone replied there's a way to not use the credit - to leave the credit for another purchase… something like 'scroll down (at some point during checkout), click xyz to reveal how to pay without using credit'. Sorry I can't recall specifics.

          • @GregMonarch: Thanks heaps Greg, it’s a bit hidden but I found it. Unclick use promo credit and it just stays there for next use.

            • +1

@cloudy: Good. There's the proof I'm not getting forgetful and still have a mind like a steel trap. (Now if only I could remember who said it so I could say "I told you so.")

  • +14

    I'm confused

Get a $5 Bonus When You Spend $20 or More in A Single Transaction on the ShopBack & Amazon Apps (One Per Customer)

But then on the Shopback website:

    Cashback is not qualified for:
Items added to cart before clicking through ShopBack
    Returns, exchanges & cancellations
Purchases made on the Amazon Australia Android app

So is this deal iOS app only?

    • +3

good find, would like to know

    • +4

      That's rude

    • +3

they've updated it and it's gone
      both iOS and Android now

    • +6

Sorry guys, an older version of our T&Cs were pulling through. Both Android and iOS app purchases are valid.

      • +1

Awesome had me worried for a min. As I just made a purchase. Thanks for the speedy update.

      • +1

excellent - will this remain this way? has always been super frustrating not being able to use the android app!

        • +4

It's actually been like this for some time now and will remain as is. The SB app will redirect you to the Amazon app accordingly if you have it installed.

          • +6

@gotyourback: The ShopBack app does not open the Amazon app on my phone. Instead it opens the Amazon website in the in-app browser. What can I do to change that behaviour?

            • @team teri: Tell it if you don't behave properly you don't get charged tonight.

            • @team teri: Hmmm, what app version are you using (to check click on the Profile icon in the app and scroll to the bottom), and are you using iOS or Android?

              • +1

@gotyourback: I have the same issue can't open Amazon app my sb version is 2.42.33

                • @RichardF89: Thanks.

Given there's quite a number of people struggling to get the Amazon app to open, this bonus will be opened to both Amazon mobile site & app purchases via the ShopBack app.

              • +1

@gotyourback: 2.42.3 on Android. Just checked the Play store, it doesn't offer any updates.

                • @team teri: @gotyourback Same.
Interestingly, it's broken for eBay too, but I can get it to launch that app by clicking the app banner at the top of the website, which brings me to a different info page in the ShopBack app, with a "continue to app" button, which opens the app.

              • @gotyourback: Shopback V2.42.1 on IOS 13.1.3, Amazon APP is 13.21.0.
Tried uninstall and install again both APPs. Still not opening the link in the Amazon APP.

              • @gotyourback: iOS 13.2.2 with ShopBack 2.42.1 and Amazon 13.21.0 => doesn’t works

              • +1

@gotyourback: I have same issue too. It goes to mobile site. what I am not sure is if it will track if I go from amazon mobile site and click on download app and select play store. It opens shopback amazon c.b. info and this time at bottom says open app. button. when click to that it opens playstore where you can download the amazon app or open if installed. shop from there… Will this work for cash back purpose as the deal is ending tonight for the $2 and the $5 tonight. I don't see any other way.

                • @duketing: That sounds like it should work.
Where did you find a "download app" link on the amazon website? It doesn't show one for me.

                  • +1

@NiteMice: after going through shopback app and clicking on amazon and when it opens the mobile site. you have to sign in. The download app banner replaces the sign in banner which is above the banner which has 5 round pics of something with title find the perfect gift for everybody.

                    • @duketing: THANK YOU!!

I'm not sure if it's actually going to track, because it bounces through Google Play, but I'm just going to do it, and open a dispute if it doesn't work.

                  • @NiteMice: OMG… it started working now

                • @duketing: As long as the journey comes from SB App (Continue To App button) to Amazon app it should be okay. Leaving that aside though there's been quite a bit of investigating - we'll allow Amazon mobile site orders through the SB app given there's been quite a number of people not being able to go through the Amazon app.

In short, we'll open this bonus to Amazon purchases (both mobile site and app) through the ShopBack app. If you're still uncertain about tracking (as we don't find out till a few days later), feel free to cancel and reorder.

          • @gotyourback: Don't see what's the big deal. The app works fine

  • +2

Shenmue 3 is now mine! Cheers Chibot!

  • Gosh, cannot stop buying from Amazon. Used the $2 cashback just last night.

  • +1

Can u use the coupon disc code from seller and still qualify?

    • If the coupon code is listed on our site then yes.

      Cashback is not qualified for:

      • Purchases of gift cards and the usage promo codes or Voucher codes not approved by ShopBack

      Otherwise,

      • If your tracked cashback at Amazon Australia is rejected, your bonus will be voided.
      • :(
Well that must be why I got totally screwed I this deal.

  • Thanks!

  • Thanks for the heads up. Time to stock up with another 45 rolls of Kleenex toilet paper :)

  • +1

Will this work with preorders via Amazon?

    • Preorders are okay if they ship within 60 days of purchase

  • Does it work for game pre-order that’s released in mid Jan 2020?

Seeing the bonus will be credited by 31 Dec 2019 I may miss out?

      • Pre-orders are eligible for Cashback provided the item is scheduled to be shipped within 60 days of purchase.
  • +1

So confused. I bought stuff off rebel sports thinking i was going to get the $2, by just shopping from the rebel link on shopback.

Then re-read the post and apparently it needs to be "activated" somewhere first for cashback to be received. Confusing when theres a million links on the sb site for "activate now, get deal now". You'd think they all would lead to the same destination…

So how does one stack this with the $2 deal exactly? Noted this post doesn't mention prior activation, so to stack, do we need to just find the $2 activation link?

Please make the site more like cashrewards where there's no activation required and just ONE damn button (if gotyourback is reading). Thanks for the deal though!

    • +1

See my post higher up. (I think I have it right, anyway.) Hopefully the only reason nothing shows yet in relation to this deal, is because it takes a while for Amazon to communicate with Shopback.

      • Hey Greg, nope, I just didn't click the link from ozb. Was trying to find it from the store page, so I missed out this time. Thanks for your other amazon tip though ;). Don't yet shop from them but will reap $10 candy one day 😂.

    • +1

The $2 bonus incentive eligibility is essentially triggered by clicking on the Activate Banner on this page. Then simply make a purchase by activating cashback again at your desired store (excluding Woolworths Gift Cards) as usual.

If you've done that already and then purchased at Rebel then you can no longer stack it with this Amazon offer as it's one bonus per customer.

If no additional activation is required for the bonus, then we would have no way of tracking who's come in from this offer and we'd be awarding the bonus to every eligible purchase for everyone including non OzBargain users.

      • +1

Ahh ok, thanks gotyourback. I thought the deal was open to all users. I was trying to find the link on the store's page and didn't click the direct link from ozbargain. Will do that in future! :)

  • Still waiting for AliExpress cashback confirmation from Monday as are many others. Won't use Shopback if it's not honoured.

  • +6

Serious question, what do people buy regularly from Amazon these days? I seriously couldn't find much bargain items on there anymore, apart from the odd ps4 games.

    • I’ve been looking at amazon since 5 am, can’t find anything I want lol

    • Toilet paper, games… Sometimes household items like detergent etc if I can't get to the supermarket when they're on sale

    • +1

Really? I shop more at Amazon than ebay these days. I love receiving Amazon parcels :0)

The well-exercised dog is going to outlive the owner.

    • I find that some fishing reels can be had cheaper - eg. Okuma epixor xt is one of my favourite reels and can be had for $7x shipped from Amazon when it's close to $100 locally here. Other than that - the usual household goods. I do like the quick delivery.

    • +1

As a prime member I get free delivery on all prime items and keep up to date on specials thanks to all our ozbargain friends.
