A chance to fly cheap with a full service airline. Of course, Malaysia Airlines is competing directly in response to AirAsia's $199 offer on the same route, the deal is at : http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/4919

  • dont you just love geniune competition….somthing Virgin and Qantas have to learn about.

    • Australian domestic travellers have been enjoying geniune competition between Virgin and Qantas for ages. Back in the days of Ansett and Qantas it would have been impossible to get a domestic airfare for < $100.

  • Not that great if you're in Sydney. Great if you're in Perth/Brissy

  • this bullshit promotion…
i tried buying this morning for nov to dec. guess, what ? i was going to be charged over $3000……..

    • Cut them some slack ok. They are a full service airline, having fares this low does not earn them very much. They are just trying to compete with a low cost airline. The seats are limited and may not be available on some days, and november/december is apeak season, they may have blacked out dates (which they did not bother telling us!). When I tried to mock book Brisbane - KL, I can find cheap seats from 1 Nov up til 4 Nov and then back again on the 7th and the 9th. I couldn't find any cheap seats up til 15th of Nov, and normally 14th of Nov is a start of a shoulder season, and it may be harder to find cheap seats during this time. However, keep trying, and yes they don't have as much cheap seats compared to AirAsia X(AirAsia X's low fare is still sustainable as they operate with very low cost base).

By the way, AirAsia has introduced another round of cheap fares out of Kuala Lumpur (besides $199 Perth/Gold Coast), with fares as low as $17 (domestic Malaysia), or $47 (Viantiane, Yogyakarta). Best to check them up as well, at: http://www.airasia.com/site/au/en/page.jsp?reference=mega200…. (complete lists in Malaysian Ringgit: http://www.airasia.com/site/my/en/promotion.jsp?reference=me…). I could not update the thread I posted earlier at: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/4919 because of "excessive negative votes" which does not make sense.

  • pretty much all gone.

    :(

Not much of a competition with AirAsia, AirAsia usually have 100's of seats.

  • I just booked a return flight with Malaysia Airlines departing Australia in November for just over $500. An excellent deal for a full service flight. However, you can't beat the AirAsia $245 all inclusive Gold Coast to KL return airfare offer, which was available several weeks ago.

  • Zack, good finding… you're right it's really a great chance for us to fly cheap with a full service airline. And I found out this low fare is an on-going programme so we can get cheap ticket all the time, Agree with wcm8382, Air Asia got some good bargains. I only use Air Asia for short distance tho coz for long hauls destinations I prefer a little bit more comfortable.
