Want a deal at this price with Soft Roller head.

  • Tempted, but my V6 is still going strong (3 years) along with the Xiomi Mi robot vacuum cleaner (also 3 years)

    • +3

This eats the V6 for breakfast, if you have carpets - you'll feel filthy after vacuuming with this and collecting canisters of dust missed by the V6.

      • I have no doubt. Already feel filthy using the V6 after the the xiaomi robovac and collecting a canister of dirt BUT drawing the line somewhere as the V6 only comes out every now and again for touch-ups and to satisfy my OCD so $600 for may be 10 uses/year not sure if it's worth it (for me).

      • +3

You eat pieces of shit for breakfast?

    • go on…. do it

  • Is this the lowest it's ever been?

I recall these were still in the $1000 range prior to the V11 model, and that was maybe a year ago. Hella drop in pricing.

Still using my V6 though, and that was bought at $260 from an Ozbargain deal. Would love to upgrade, but the V6 still work fine for now.

A few other models are coming out with detachable battery and are putting pressure on Dyson and we all know Dyson's battery is their Achilles' heel. Dyson have to redesign their models with detachable battery, then they will be the best. The Dyson that I am actually using will be my last Dyson, my next cordless must be one with a detachable battery.

    • +1

      why must be detachable?

      • +5

People like to vacuum many hours in a row..

        • So you need a few batteries to finish the hours long job?

          • @lily99: If you have ever used a cordless drill or an 18V cordless garden tools you would know. Dyson is ok just for spot cleaning, if you want a general vacuuming, the battery will never take you through.

      • +1

Because batteries deteriorate overtime. I have 3 dysons that no longer work because the internal batteries can't hold a charge. Easier to replace battery yourself then to send the machine in to dyson to do it and pay all the associated costs

        • Are you still able to replace the batteries in the newer models? I recently changed the battery in my v6 as it was dying in under a minute of use.

        • Not sure if I was lucky or Dyson have upped their CS but I called up about the battery on my 3 year old Dyson not charging (blinking light) and didn't say anything about warranty etc. Once the lady diagnosed it as faulty battery she happily sent me a new one for free. Obviously people's mileage may vary and it may come down to your conversation, cs agent, claim history, number of devices registered etc etc as after 3.5 years it's pure 'goodwill' for batteries.

          • @gimme: I can't say the phone cs is is great in my experience.
They will do the basic trouble shoot (have you charged your battery for x hours or have you cleaned your filter).
Try the Facebook page for a better experience.
            They are great there.

        • Thanks for the information. I'll wait for one with detachable battery then. Cheers!

        • How old are your dysons? Mine was bought at the end of 2014. The model before the V6. I can still do most of my townhouse on one charge.

          • @lainey13: You must be using low power setting

            • +1

@gimme: You're not supposed to do your whole house on MAX…. there's only MAX or normal. VC every week. Don't need MAX since I don't let it get filthy inbetween.

              • @lainey13: Why not? I vacuum more frequently but max is basically the equivalent of a fairly avg corded vacuum so barely ok for carpet. We don't even wear shoes inside. Floorboards or tiles different story

    • I'm still using the DC35 Animal I bought, probably 8 or 9 years ago. Replaced the original battery and charger just last year because both failed. Apart from those, the vacuum is still going strong. Did they change the current models to have integrated battery?

      • Pretty sure anyone can replace the battery, as long as you can use a screwdriver. Not sure what they're on about with a detachable battery, that's only going to increase the cost.

        • My DC35 is ancient, but it's got a detachable battery in the grip. I replaced the original battery when it failed with 2 generic ones with capacity 3 times higher than the original. Now I rarely switch out batteries, but when I do, it feels all tacti-cool and stuff lol (like ejecting a spent magazine).

      • I'm also still using DC44 old model with detachable battery. It's very easy to swap the battery and I've never had out of battery problem with swapping with spare battery.

    • You think Dyson can’t make ones with detachable battery? I had a chat with support team and they said Dyson make non-changeable battery on purpose, because the motor is only designed to run for such duration. If the battery is changeable, it may kill the motor or reduce the working life of the motor a lot. Unless they can improve the technology and create a new generation of motors that can run for many hours, Dyson will still make the battery unchangeable.

      • That's marketing speak. But it's not that hard to make the battery detachable. I've done it on my V6 and regularly swap between 3 batteries. Just matter of removing 1 (or 2 can't remember) screws and that's it. For extra strength I just use a rubber band. Looks 'ugly' but I'm not acting in a commercial. With the newer ones though 2 batteries should be more than enough I presume.

        • I have 3 Dyson stick vacuums and have changed the batteries of them all so I know how to change. Yes the battery is changeable but you are not supposed to keep on changing the battery and make the motor work for hours continuously like the handheld powertools.

      • They are talking BS to justify their outdated design, there are vacuums with detachable battery out there, even Target has one and it has good reviews.

  • good price, but guess the code won't stack with cashreward or shopback

    • Coupon Code not eligible for Cashback from Cashrewards and Shopback.

  • Animal Cordless Vacuum

Can you vacuum anything with this vacuum or just animals?

  • Nice deal, thanks for sharing

So I managed an epic stack

    1. Activate $2 Shopback ozbargain bonus (https://www.shopback.com.au/ozbargain)
    2. Click through the shopback 12% flash sale ebay link (https://www.shopback.com.au/ebay-australia)
    3. Add the product from this deal to your ebay cart
    4. Important: Do not use any ebay code!
    5. Important Do not pay using gift cards! (Pay using a price protection card ideally)
    6. Buy the product for $699
    7. Receive 12%+$2 shopback = $85.88
    8. Immediately make an Ebay Price Guarantee claim (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/495163) against Kogan who have just dropped price to $599 (https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/dyson-cyclone-v10-animal-vacuum…)
    9. Ebay price guarantee of the gap between $699 and $599 + 5% of $599 = $129.95

    10. Subtotal so far = $699 - $85.88 - $129.95 = $483.17

    11. Extra bonus: If you have price protection on your credit card, claim the $100 between your purchase price and the Kogan price for another $100 bringing this down to $383.17 !!

    Enjoy

    • Does cashback go through after you've price matched?

      • I was wondering the same thing myself.

    • I just did this. I got a $150 voucher from Ebay for price guarantee.
They couldn't confirm the shopback 12%. I'm not sure how it wouldn't apply.

      • I got $129.95 on ebay price protection. Not sure how you got $150? (but well done!). Had to go through two chat agents to get the credit agreed, and they say it takes 24-48 hours.

    • You should post that as a deal in itself, it’s honestly a great hack.

If cash back does work with eBay claim

    • What credit card offer price protection with other online retailers.

    • Anyone know if the Citibank Signature allows price protection via Ebay?

      • I just emailed the service team on that.

    • +1

thank you! Got my $129.95 from eBay but do note that the voucher must be used one time only and any remaining amount is non-refundable.

    • i think most of price protection cover on credit card doesn't really apply for online purchases. usually it has a rule where the stores must be within a certain kilometers from one another.

      • Correct my NAB has 30 KM.

    • Jesus man. Well done for figuring that out.

I don't even need another Dyson but I'm tempted to give this a crack just for the bragging rights of getting a Dyson V10 < $400.

    • +1

Price protection physical store condition is crap. Still great hack, good on you.

    • what if you use EBAY GIFT Cards to pay since you don't have price protection card.
Are you still eligible for the Ebay price guarantee?

    • TRS for another $63.50 off if you‘ve an overseas Christmas holiday booked. You just have to lurk around your “Christmas gift that sucks”.

      • TRS the girlfriend for a gift that sucks.

    • How much longer do you have to live after following this process

      • Assuming you mean 'leave', it's 60 days

    • Just when you think you have seen it all on Ozb lol. 3 more steps and the vacuum is free.

      • Please add the steps!

        • Snatch and run lol

    • Is price protection something that you pay for? Like a monthly insurance charge?

    • Shopback is 1%. What am I missing?

  • whats the best price protection card? One that perhaps also earns FF points?

  • Hey, where is the link to submit ebay claim? Thanks

  • +1

    https://pages.ebay.com.au/buy/Best_Price_Guarantee/

Make sure you have your item ID from your eBay purchase (found in your order confirmation) and a link to the identical item on the Approved Retailer's website

Chat to or call our customer service team and they’ll check the Approved Retailer's website and our T&Cs to ensure the product is eligible

If approved, we’ll give you a voucher to spend on eBay. The voucher amount will be the difference in price + 5% off the online retail website's price*. Happy shopping!

  • Been hanging out for a deal, finally jumped on. My old DC59 was looking sad.

  • It might finally be time to upgrade from my old black and decker.

  • Has anyone got their shopback cash back confirmed?

    • Coupon Code not eligible for Cashback from Shopback.

      • Sorry was talking about the price match method.

    • Not yet, but shop back says it can take up to 72 hours.

      • Got my $83.91 shopback credit. Still waiting for my ebay credit. they said via chat yesterday that it would be in my messages by the end of the day. I'll have to chat with them again this morning.

  • Thank you, I bought this

  • PRODYSON doesn't work for me. Tried multiple times. Homepage banner still shows its on

    • Just tested, still valid.

      Try on a different browser.

      • I've tried different browsers and used the code multiple times - it just wouldn't let me, any suggestions ?

  • How do people claim TRS? Can you still claim if the item is not a gift for overseas friend/family?

    • Yes, you have to take it out of the country and bring it back. As long as it's within your combined duty free limit per person ($900?) on your return then no dramas. Not that anybody checks that much but legally you're in the clear.

      • So legally I can claim TRS if I am taking the item out and bringing it back to Australia if the item values less than $900? Is that correct?

        • Yes provided you're not bringing back any other dutable items to push you over the limit

          • @gimme: Perfect. Thank you so much. I was in an assumption that claiming TRS for an item that I will bring back to Australia is illegal. Now I know it's okay if item worth less than $900

            • +2

@ashftc: At a guesd I'd say 99% of TRS claims by the Ozb crowd ends back in Aus ;)

              • @gimme: Came across this TRS term so many times so thought to finally ask. Thanks heaps for your clarification :)

              • @gimme: Vacuums are pretty big so you can stamp the receipt as checked luggage. I've never had a customs official following me to the check in counter though.

What's the likelihood of the price dropping even further during Christmas/Boxing Day sales?
