No it doesn't. The base option is an mx250. Lenovo don't seem to have adopted iris plus on their latest laptops.
One would assume it should be part of the CPU.
With laptops like this, you should be able to select which GPU to use. The Iris should use less power than the MX250 when you don't need the 250.
Do you know if it can be charged via USB C?
No charge sorry via USB c. This laptop has fast charge and thunderbolt 3
Pretty much all laptops come with NVIDIA Optimus which switches between the integrated and dedicated graphics as needed
that's good. But they're not advertising the Iris Plus so I wanted to be sure.
@lostn: Neither Intel or AMD make mobile chips without an integrated GPU. They won't usually advertise it if it's got an external GPU
@lostn: I don't get it. So the iris plus is better than the mx250? I thought the integrated GPUs that come on CPUs usually not as good as dedicated ones?
@witsa: It's not better. Just more power efficient when you're browsing the web on chrome.
Curious what do you like about this laptop? @ifreddo
I'm a lenovo user and can't fault them so far. I'm coming from a yoga 900,which has served me well over the last 5 or so years. I've been looking for a new work laptop. This has a 62wh battery which is amazing for the form factor. But it means I can get through a whole day and not run out of juice. You also can't get this form factor and specs for under $2000. And it has a bit of extra power for some light gaming. But with good build quality, good screen, weight - this is great. Oh, and it still has 2 x USB A ports!
Sounds like a great deal.
How does this laptop compare in quality to the XPS 15?
So do you mean build quality? The 15.6" version of this laptop is more comparable to the xps15 with the 4gb graphics card, if you need it. But this has decent built quality. It's a fully aluminium body and the lid can be opened with one finger lift. Great Dolby audio sound to if you need to use it for meetings or work presentations.
Yeah nice. Don't care too much about graphics card cause won't be using it for games, more for coding etc.
My only concern is that the processor won't perform as well as the XPS 15. But it's probably fine. It's probably a bit slower but the battery will last a lot longer. Is also like 700 cheaper due to this sale.
this may or may not stack with https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/495488
just bought the laptop. Tried the cashrewards thing - not sure if it worked though - there's been no email yet.
Lenovo rep confirmed the MX250 is of the 10W variant. Would have been a great pick-up for me if it were 25W
does it still have the Iris plus?
