  • Just get origin access

  • +11

Pre-order and EA should never be used in the same sentence.

    • +1

      Don't pre-order EA games.

      • -2

        Don't pre-order period.

There's no incentive for developers and publishers to get off their ass and do anything for consumers after they already have your money. Software development (whether for gaming or otherwise) is entirely feature-oriented and not QA-oriented. There's no money to be made in post-release support, as you can't sell patches, bug-fixes and other updates to existing customers, only new features (i.e. DLC, expansions and sequels).

Most people on OzBargain have Steam Libraries numbering in the hundreds anyway; it's not like you haven't got anything decent to play while you wait for a title to launch and see if it's a clusterf*ck or not.

  • Does anyone know if this comes with the pre-order bonus items that the other sellers are offering?
(Only cosmetic items, I know, but still curious)

  • Can anyone see which store-front/DRM this is using? Origin or Steam?

    • +3

Usually it is always the launcher that the publisher owns. In this case it will be Origin.

  • Do you need a DVD drive to get the license key? and need the DVD in the drive to access Origin? Or will they provide an Origin key as well?

    • +2

It will most likely not include DVD and just provide the key in a case but there will always be key regardless

  • Just get origin access and finish it in a day or so

    • Is there a free trial? Or do we pay for a month and trial a game?

      • -1

There was a free month if you did that dual authentication setup at one stage not sure if its still active ?

        • I think this is basic not premier, but I also read it will be applied for people who activated 2 factor anytime before October. I haven't received mine yet, did you get yours?

          • @ozbjunkie: Nope I'm in the boat, no emails nothing so far

            • @solidussnake: I also send an email to EA support with no response yet. I wonder who will get back to me first, EA or CODEX?

  • Well, seems that Amazon are delivering this late, next week.
So much for Prime Membership and promising it’ll be delivered on the day of release.

Will call them now and see what’s up.
Hopefully their customer service is as good as it was last time.

  • Get origin premier for $19.99 a month which includes this and nfs heat

  • +1

I pre-ordered FOR PC and got it on the day of release.

    • Amazon.com.au will provide the pre-order bonus code (for the cosmetic items in-game) via email.
    • Amazon will send you a blank DVD case with the (game serial number) inside.
    • The game requires you to install Origin Launcher in order to activate the said serial number.
    • If you want the "Ultimate Edition" which includes additional skins and behind the scenes video you can upgrade your copy of the game for an additional $10 AUD within the Origin Launcher when selecting Jedi Fallen Order.

    Thoughts on game:
I have played about 16 hours and game can be completed within 2-3 days with moderate 'level exploration/completion'. However, if your a perfectionist when it comes to finding all the game lore, secrets, etc. This will take longer as you need to build your skills up (with your character) as certain paths and challenges will be unavailable due to them being intentionally blocked.

    • The game is not (button) mashing your abilities but requires you to time your block, attack (combos), dodge/block repeatably.
    • There is also quite a lot of 'puzzle solving' and if your not into that well this isn't your game. They are not terribly hard but some do make you think.
    • The game has no fast travel points within levels so you have to walk/run back through the levels to get back to your ship. There are multiple in-level save points.
    • There is alot of parkour (wall running, climbing) and is best played with an Xbox/Playstation controller plugged in. Keyboard and Mouse combo I found to be clunky but each ability and movement direction can be customised individually if you don't have a controller.
    • At the end of the game campaign there is no "Game+" mode where your abilities previously obtain will carry over into the new game.
    • The higher the game difficulty, the more punishing enemies become and as you don't regenerate HP and have limited 'stim healing' you need to be on point with your blocks, dodge and attack/counter-attack combinations. Button mashing won't help you here in the higher difficulties and boss/mobs will punish you if you make the wrong moves.
    • For those not interested in the combat system and just want to play for the story there is a "Story mode" difficulty which is (easy mode).
    • 2 days being 10 hours or so of game time? No wonder they removed it from the trial.
