Went to JB Hifi and managed bargained the price down to $500 which is pretty good for this camera I think. The price won't be better than online stores but if you consider to buy locally this is a good price!

I agree with you. Having to haggle someone down to a price which is standard elsewhere does not constitute a bargain in my book.
Having said that though, This is really where the value of service comes in. If the guy ran you through the whole camera, explained its pros and cons, explained the software, outlined how it performs against price range.. then it's a great deal.

Nope but if it was a product that JB stock I'd rather drive 5-10 mins to JB instead of 30 mins to DCW.
I like DCW and will likely buy some stuff from them next week because of the good range of specialist photography gear they keep in stock - vastly broader range than JB and prices on some gear are pretty good.
However DCW only have one shop-front in each of SYD, MEL & BNE. So in this instance - when taking travel into account - most OzBers would do better paying the $1 extra at their local JB.

Just because you got it at JB for that price, doesn't mean that its that great a deal.
it is an online store eh! can't take it home straight away and have to send it back not swap for a new one when sth goes wrong .
Get a price for Australian stock for comparison. This mob imports stuff from Hong Kong from what I can tell.
PS. I saw JR Duty Free was selling these for $420 but cleared out stock the morning I went looking. And yes, that was a Duty Free price.

It's a great cam, I got my one from HK for $354 delivered with a 16gb card.
At the time they were going for mid $500's in Australia so to me the price difference was worth any warranty hassles.
