Hi all, could be totally wrong, but realised that now JB offers a business plan which includes data sharing. 12 month contract, min cost is $780 of 12 months. Must have an ABN
[ABN Req] Telstra $65pm (12 Months) - 60GB Data + Sharing, Unl Tlk/Txt + $500 off Any iPhone @ JB Hi-Fi (in-Store - New/Port in)

Full price on the receipt - if u r thinking of getting under the TRS limit ($900) with one of the new iPhones, it won’t happen… you’ll need a companions concession
But if you have a salary sacrifice benefit at work, score!
Can you please explain on why it won't happen?
The iPhone price won’t be less than $900 on the tax invoice because the cheapest price on the new ones is $1199 and JB stick with Apple pricing.
Full price.
The $500 off is a gift card that they issue you.Wicked
If only I had an abn
Take you 15 minutes online.
Having an abn changes how you submit tax right? Also is it for free
Nah your personal tax and business tax is different. If you do not earn through the business then it is easy.
Abn is free.
You can just register as a sole trader without registering a business name and no need to register for GST. The ABN set up is still free as far as I know.
An ABN is free to apply for but there are a few things to consider:
1) When you sign up to obtain an ABN, you declare to the ATO you are doing so to conduct business activities. If that is not true, you have made a false declaration to the tax office 2) Many a person has signed up for an ABN but subsequently enacted BAS and GST reporting for themselves, with penalties if they did not comply 3) You may face increased scrutiny by the ATO now or in the future, an example of which would be the proposed cash-ban law which seeks to penalise with prison time ABN holders who accept cash payments over a threshold.
If you don't have an ABN, I'd stick with one of the many good plans that don't require you to have one rather than apply for one for trivial reasons unrelated to business activity income.
Is it for new customer only?
*Available for New Telstra & Port-in Customers only.
Always is
Data sharing - how much is it to get another sim card per month just to share data?
It was $5/month on the old consumer plans that are now grandfathered
Source: On old consumer plan
yea I had that too, thinking of getting that back but there is no info regarding this now
Only available on Business plans. So ABN.
I still have just over two months left on my contract, so probably just going to month-to-month it (was intending to get a 128GB Pixel 4 on contract but it's like $100/month for the smallest data plan and handset! Plus I'd have to figure out something for my iPad mini too … if I buy outright and manage to stay on the grandfathered plan, cost over 24 months would be $114/month plus more data)
@kerfuffle: Man people spend so much on plans!
@onlinepred: Yep. My current one is $64 a month which came with a Google Pixel 2 and a data share SIM. Outright for the Pixel 4 is looking a lot more attractive … I'd like to stay on Telstra for the Google Home calling abilities
@onlinepred: Depends on if you throw in the $500 phone credit if you were planning on a new iPhone anyway, in which case this plan beats anything like for like on value.
@kerfuffle: I'm in the same boat looking at this. I am on an old $135/mth plan with 5 data share sims and a $5 companion plan. It isn't cheap for the 30gb of data I get which I share, but it saves me from multiple plans and trying to move data allowance around. Nothing new seems to offer a similar setup.
@kerfuffle: Ahhh, that's the benefit for having ABN.
I see now.
wait? grandfathered? My $5 share sims were murdered
After your contract ended? I'm still on contract until Christmas, so I'll let you know if my $5 SIM is grandfathered or murdered
24 months not 12 months
No, the business plan is advertised as 12-months
OP link is wrong
Here’s the link I have - does it work for u guys??: https://manage.kmail-lists.com/subscriptions/web-view?a=LQzn…
I can't see what you're referring to?? The link you've provided says nothing about an ABN and the amounts seem off? It's either $400 voucher for 12 months or $500 for 24 months? Also, I can't find any info that data sharing exists with these plans?
Can someone post correct link. OP link doesn’t say Telstra business plans, only the JB hifi Telstra plans which don’t have data sharing
Here is what I got by email. If you go in store they should let you get the deal.
The smallest plans available now that have replaced 'data sharing sims' are $15 per month.

Can the $500 be used on the phone purchase?
Yes
This isn’t applicable for everyone but I’ve been waiting 3+ weeks to be ported to Telstra.
My case doesn’t seem the be out of the norm as well.
Same here- they suck and blame it on Telstra, Telstra blame it on JB
I was ported over from Vodafone within 24 hours. Seems to be dependant on who you were with before.
@GS03 - I have a case manager with Telstra and the issue seems to be my number itself, she claims changing provider wouldn't fix the issue.
There's plenty of information on Whingepool where people are affected from all different providers.

Device Credit
$500
(Existing Telstra mobilecustomers recontracting on or before 1September 2019, and New Telstra mobilecustomers)Dammit. missed out
Does anyone know if this data share sim is compatible/still being offered for sale?
https://www.telstra.com.au/content/dam/tcom/personal/help/pd…Also, current Telstra customer, so what's the deal with port out and back in limitations?
Regarding port in/back: I understand that officially you have to be off the network for 30 days, but some stores won’t check, I was off for 2 days and one JB said they couldn’t do it, but one Good Guys did it without issue.
Edited original comment, figured it out.
Would you be considered a new customer if you are a residential Telstra customer changing to business customer?
No!
Subsidising your own $500 . The only benefits = TELSTRA network + 20 gb extra compared to Kogan XL .
Has anyone got a phone using the credit? On the receipt for the phone, does it state the full price of the phone or the reduced price?
