Just make sure you read reviews of Saltimbanco before you buy tickets.
The performers are brilliant people but this is not a "normal" Cirque du Soleil show.

I bought my tickets from lasttix (thanks) and after leaving the show I was glad I only paid half price.

Once again, before I get slammed, this is just my opinion and all the individual performers are brilliant actors and acrobats but I was dissapointed with the format.

  • Yep I went a few weeks ago, certainly not worth full price. We had general admission tickets for ~$40 (ie Nose Bleed where you are above the high acts. It seemed as if the majority of people in attendance also had these tickets as the decent seats were empty, with many rows being vacant.

If you've been to Le Grand Cirque or other Cirque du Soleil shows then maybe give this a miss, however, for $69 it'd be a good night out providing the seats are decent enough.

EDIT: My mistake. For only $40 for A reserve, it would be a good night out.

  • Having seen the original in the big top which was brilliant I was wondering how it would go in this format. But for $40 I just bought a couple of tix - they were very good seats( albeit in a very crappy venue)!

It's certainly NOT worth $100+, in fact it's very disappointing when compared with earlier Cirque de Soleil shows. The wife & I went on Friday (Brisbane Entertainment Centre)The magic and mystique have gone. We have seen Cirque de Soleil shows before under the Big Top, where you feel part of the show, feel enveloped by the total experience of the music, action, colour and costumes. You can see the intricate detail of costumes and makeup. The format has changed to being a series of acts with no continuity or link. The Brisbane Entertainment Centre is far too large a venue for this show. Whilst the performers are no doubt world class, you miss the whole Cirque de Soleil experience when you watch the show from afar. It really felt like "just another circus". We may as well have bought the DVD of the show and watched it at home. We will never go again unless it is under the Big Top. We feel ripped off by $240."

I hated this show. Really despised it. I left after intermission and I had a front row seat. I think a lot of people are having a negative reaction as they are sending out surveys to people who bought through Cirq Club. I have been to several other performances and enjoyed them, although they have far too much clowning. Their clowning really irritates me because it is such pathetic low brow humour. Also, I think the fact that it is mostly in French is a bit pretentious.

  • Just saw this last night with my discount tickets. Complete waste of money. The clown act just went on and on. They even had an audience member on stage for what felt like 30 minutes! I didn't pay to watch someone from the audience making a fool of himself!
