Condition

Due to a recall announced by Intel earlier this year, these HP notebooks have been re-worked with new Intel B3 stepping 6-Series Chipset Motherboards. These have been expertly installed by an Authorised HP Repair Centre on behalf of Grays Online.

A complete refurbishment was not required, as these items have not been used or sold to end user customers. However some units may have been used for display purposes prior to Grays Online receiving them.

12 Month Limited Product Warranty

Your purchase is warranted by GraysOnline to be free from defects affecting product functionality (except where otherwise stated in the lot description) for a period of 12 calendar months from invoiced date of purchase.
Should a defect occur within the warranty period, GraysOnline will manage the repair via an Authorised repair centre for the components covered under the terms and conditions of the warranty, free of charge to the buyer.
In exceptional circumstances where the product for whatever reason cannot be repaired or cannot economically be repaired, GraysOnline, at its sole discretion may choose to resolve the issue by replacing the product with an identical or equivalent model or refunding the full purchase price of the product.

For the avoidance of doubt, the warranty of this product is 12 months, irrespective of the duration of the manufacturer’s warranty when the product was new.

The purchaser will be required to return the product to an authorised GraysOnline repair centre at their expense. Warranty does not cover misuse of product or Software issues of any kind. All warranty claims are managed exclusively by GraysOnline.

      • ah ok my bad, but whats the experience with graysonline

      Graysonline alone, no deal.
What's with the stream of Graysonline 'deals' lately?

  • Refurbished HP no thanks

Give anything from HP with a DV in the name a miss, they are consumer grade rubbish laptops. They aren't really even fit for consumer grade.

I've used HP business laptops for almost 10 years now for work, and they are exceptional. Especially since they've started the Elitebook series. HP EliteBook = win.

Seriously, you are better off getting a used EliteBook off eBay for this sort of money. I literally just got a EliteBook 8730w with 17" UXGA dreamcolor screen, looks brand new for $600 landed from the states.

Sure its a couple of years old tech wise, but I've just chucked in a core2quad @3.4GHz ($200 off eBay) that laughs at an i7 quad. The laptop already came with a Nvidia QuadroFx 2700m which is probably better than the HD 6570. I can also upgrade to QFX 3700m once one shows up cheap on the bay.

      • not to sound like a jerk but 2700M is a pretty class 2 lower level. SHould be good with OpenGL drivers though
I'm guessing you got the HP EliteBook 8730w

      • i agree with you except for the performance part. also consider battery life

      • Not sure what i7 quad your C2Q is laughing at, but the Sandy Bridge quad-core CPUs trounce just about anything: http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu_lookup.php?cpu=Intel+Core+i7…

        • +1

It laughs at all of the i7's trying to run 2 VMs and the host OS at the same time at decent speeds. Its only really the newer gaming related instructions that give the newer CPU a benchmark/gaming advantage. My C2Q pwns this i7 on floating point and integer math throughput (I don't game). But yeah battery life is a different story if you really need to game on the go.

The main point was that these consumer grade latest and greatest laptops aren't that great in reality. Just look at the entire reason these are being sold on here!

Slightly older top of the range business grade machines can still do a very respectable job for most people, and costing over 5k new less than 2 years ago, my $600 8730w is designed and built to last (after they have tried/tested/discarded stuff using the consumer models as lab rats).

  • Grays are a scam, this listing should be removed

    • I know Grays can be a ripoff for delivery, I know that auctions with "buyers premium" can also be a ripoff if you are dumb enough to bid not thinking about it, but I don't understand how Grays are a scam?

Neither buyers premium or ripoff delivery charges apply here.

I do hear what people are saying about Grays own warranty services.

      Can you enlighten me?

ohh yess i can neg cuz its Grays

  • The catch is warranty provided by Graysonline. You may end up without a Laptop for months. Even you may have to prove it is not mishandled by you. When there are 100s of lapop offers are available, why should you take the trouble of dealing with this mob.

I have a DV7 and it's been back for repairs 3 times in a year and I bought it new. I would stay away from this deal with bells on.

  • HPs look very good, but I would just stop at that…

    • stop sooner

  • doesn't Grays remove the original HP serial, add their own and then sell it to you?

    dodge-o-rama

  • I had 3 HP laptops fail on me in the past 7 years. 1 hard drive failure, 2 video card failures. maybe they have improved lately but i stay away from them personally.

    • except hp doesnt manufacture hitatchi hdds or nvidia gfx..uh oh

      • +1

Yes you are right but that still means that your laptop is not working and it is at the repairs. Same principle as a car, if it kept on breaking down because the gearbox which is made by ZF, stuffed up, would you consider it that car brand to be reliable? In the case of HP, in my experience anyway, they should have done more testing to ensure quality output and happy consumers.

HP and Grays, deserves two neg's.

  • I bought one a couple of days ago. 1 year wty all good. Got me a stupidly high spec computer for $800 (+$15 delivery)!

All that they did is replace the motherboard, I do this myself on my own computers and it's no big deal.

The one I got -> 15.6" LCD LED backlit, i7 quad core, 8GB ram, 6570 gfx (1GB ram), 1TB hdd, blu-ray writer, wireless etc, probably has a fingerprint reader.

  • It's unfortunate that I also have to report that I've had some bad experiences with Grays as well.

  • All we need now is Norton's on them…

    • and charge an extra $31

  • anything where graysonline is the decision maker (i.e. warranty) is a waste of time and money. They will make you go through a hundred hoops and hurdles before they fix anything. I avoid them like the plague.

    • Hmm that doesnt sound good.

I bought something once from them that was DOA and they did give me a full refund. That is my only experience…

  • Grays, dodgy as. I wouldn't want to be going back to them with warranty issues, highly likely with a HP.

  • Would HP's extended warranties be valid?

Three Year pickup and return $229 - http://h20386.www2.hp.com/AustraliaStore/Product.aspx?hpprod…

Emailed HP, but they haven't replied for three days. :/
Just emailed GraysOnline to ask them too, hopefully their response is faster for a live sale.

    • Thank you for your email.

Please be advised that the warranty for HP refurbished notebooks are managed by Graysonline through authorised service centre and not by HP Australia.
