    QNAP TS-453Be 4 Bay NAS $520 Delivered

great price for a great NAS

  • Been holding out on a good price for the Synology, but not sure it's worth it over the qnap?

      In a nutshell….

      Hardware: Qnap > Synology
      Software: Synology > Qnap

Thanks. Makes me lean towards the Synology, as I'm not sure how much hardware can be better on the qnap that I would notice.

This deal isn't the best price though, got to rely on the cashback turning up.

I have both, my personal preference is Synology, their free active backup is really useful.

        • I was originally looking at the Qnap as its better hardware-wise but settled on the Synology. The software is great and SHR won me over.

Either way, I don't think you'd be disappointed with either choice

We've had a few QNap T453 variants that will crash with reasonable iScsi usage, our Synologies have been rock solid in this regard. So if you need iScsi for anything, I wouldn't touch the Qnap.

Some of our older RS815RP+ have died to the Intel clock signal issue, but resistor trick has given them new life.

Any good hard drive deals to go along with these?

    • Wondering about that too, built a NAS with an old spare PC laying around. Just no other drives to chuck in.

  • Have the Synology ds119j (entry level model) and kept getting notifications that the fan keeps failing. Retailer replaced it and the replacement does exactly the same. Now having to get a refund which sucks.

Wondering if QNAP would be better.

  • i did this, however i got the cashback notice today for a refund of $6 vs $60 for the Synology… rather pissed as i had to install both ebay & shopback apps to make it work. Hoping its just a glitch!

I have been using Synology NAS's for about 7 years they are great products generally and just work, e.g. i have one at my mums place and it auto syncs with ours to provide offsite, the weekly backups work with out a hitch. Its decently fast when using wired connection.

Just read T&Cs of the offer and they do specify its loaded seperately and will be done on the 15th of november … whoops, please disregard.
