Upgrade Your Ultraviolet Digital Movie Collection to Google Play for Free

2700

Flixster Video is now allowing users to upgrade their UltraViolet movie collection to Google Play copies of the films, pending Flixster’s closure at the end of the year.

If you’re like me you probably have have a large collection of UltaViolet codes that came with your blu-ray and DVD purchases over the last 10 years or so. Until now these were pretty much useless because UltaViolet was largely unsupported in Australia, with the exception of services like Flixster which only offered you the ability to watch these films on your mobile devices, not on your TV. Now you can upgrade these films to Google Play’s far superior service and watch them either through the Google Play apps or YouTube apps (by navigating to ‘purchases’) on pretty much any device from your OLED TV to your Nintendo Switch.
The link will take you to the migration page where you can login to Flixster and transfer any redeemed codes and purchases to Google Play. Note that if a film in your UltaViolet library is not offered by Google Play then these films cannot be transferred at this time.

Successfully redeemed and sold almost 100 codes, only had issue with one (The Matrix) the code provided by WB seems to be invalid.

    • Where did you sell them ? I am looking for some to buy.

      • I sold them in the classifieds here, most stuff I found online is US focused.

Redeemed a few that are now dupes because of Movies Anywhere ( I’m wondering if that will disabled if they figure out I’m in another country) but are now family shareable at least but in the Us this seemed to be automatic when they shut down and we as usual have the worse service and most movies don’t even come with codes anymore. This is just another example how screwed up our movie and entertainment industry is. Rant Over

  • Cheers, transferred 40 titles but strange its saying Deadpool and The Wolverine not available on Google Play when they clearly are

I had the same problem with "The Martian", "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes", "Epic", "Good Day to Die Hard" and more. I did a search on Google Play and they are there and I can purchase them so its not a licensing or availability issue. Lodged a case with WB.

  • Anyone know if the UV code in 4k Fury Road redeems a UHD version of the movie? I had a copy from a Blu ray but recently got the 4k version and it has another code in the box… But seems only US copies may have come with a 4k digital copy?

Also had issues migrating X-Men days of Future past/rogue cut. Lodged a case.

I don't know if it did or didn't on Flixter as I never actually watched it, but transferring the Flixter version I got from the code in the 4K version to Google Play just gave me the SD version.

    • +1

All the codes I have redeemed transferred as HD. SD codes upgraded to HD and codes from 4K disc redeemed as HD, which is what they were in Flixster too.

    • +1

      It's a normal hd copy

      • Cool thanks for confirming.

  • How did you guys log in to the flixter account? Each time i try to log in it gives an error saying the flixter US has ceased operations. I tried the ios app as well with the same issue.

    • Go the the Australian Flixster site, not the US one. Check to see if your browser or VPN are running anything that is making it appear you are in the US.

  • Migrated my 2 movies. I had long ago given up on a migration, so fantastic! Thank you OP! :-)

  • Finally, Spider-Man is at home with my Marvel collection

  • Couldn't log in to migrate my movies - I just get a message saying "Flixster Video US has ceased operations".

  • I never realised those UV codes could be redeemed here! I'm going to have to go through 200 or so blurays and see if my codes, of which most have probably expired, work with google.

One of my movies was "Title not available in Google Play" (even though it actually was there…).
I contacted them (via https://digitalsupport.warnerbros.com/hc/en-us), and they have responded.

At this time, we would like to offer you [number of titles] Warner Bros film[s] to redeem and add to your Google Play collection. Please let us know your preferred title[s] from the list of available titles below and we would be more than happy to provide you with redemption codes for such title[s].

    • Cool, hoping I get the same reply, still waiting to hear back from them.

    • They subsequently reduced the list to 24 titles.

  • In case anyone else is looking, according to the fine print: "Offer expires on December 18, 2019."

  • Well to redeem Fury Road, I had to go to roadshow.com.au/furyroad, and that redirected me to Google with a free purchase - no flixster involvement.

Gravity, did not work that way, but silly me had purchased it already on google, so good luck if you can get this code working:

    Gravity - C2FWBTMX7YGX

thx worked, had to do it through warner brothers redemption site.

  • The Magnificent Seven remake not available on Google Play

  • Flixster was crap. One of my movies would always play a foreign soundtrack when cast on Chromecast and they wouldn't fix it. So happy when I could finally migrate them to a Gmail family account.

  • Turns out only one of my Blurays (Breaking Bad) was available. The other (Austin Powers) wasn't eligible.

  • Is a UV always advertised on the pack? because I have a heap of unopened DVDs I'd forgotten about

  • Heads up, some titles that were "unable to migrate" from my AU account were available in UK and Canada regions.

You need to login to Flixster with a CA or UK VPN to get the code from Flixster then use https://play.google.com/store?gl=CA and https://play.google.com/store?gl=UK to redeem.

I still have a heap for sale and trade in the classifieds.
