    • You would not expect a regular person to replace fans etc in a case.

And from what I can tell the video card is a 2 year warranty.

      • Okay then. Congratulations to you, the video card has a 2 year warranty =P

Correct me if i'm wrong, but 99% of manufacture defects are shown withing the first 3 months, after that, I guess it just comes down to the brand. Saphire is pretty well known amonst gamers for build quality.

And when fans start going bad, usually they start making loud churning noises. And if the fan just did fail, it wouldn't be that hard to tell, because no hot air is being pushed from the rear of the computer?

And TBH i don't think it's going to be a huge deal if a fan went bad in the case. You could probably still run the computer fine without a fan, actually depending on the other cooling components.

  • Corwin have u sold any is my question and if u did are they on ozbargain so i can ask them about it

  • What I don't get is…
Who are these potential HTPC customers that are into PC gaming in their lounge (using xbox controllers too lol) and yet also don't know the first thing about PCs?
and who also don't know anyone/anywhere they can ask for free PC advice?
and who also don't know they can walk into a local PC dealer and probably walk out with a better and cheaper system with onsite warranty too?
and who also don't know about eBay?
and who also put any faith in a startup one man band and his 3 year offsite warranty (EDIT: oh and his assurances of some sort of mysterious total experience)?

      Hi stumo,

Gold Class offers something for everyone in the family.

    • not really sure who's the target consumer here. if the games you like are halo, gears, uncharted, god of war, rockband etc…this in my opinion is the better deal:

ps3 (plays sony exclusives plus bluray) $400
      xbox 360 with kinect $299
      laptop $800 or ipad 2 for $700
pretty much the same price as this advertised htpc

you can watch bluray movies at the same time browse the net, when you get bored of movies, play with kinect/rockband lol…

let me know if a htpc can beat this combo…

      • Hi Farrba,

Gold Class has much superior graphics than any console today and handles your computing tasks in one device.

        • good point, however, those games i mentioned can only be played in those consoles.

Meh… No bargain. Enough reasons have already been posted to explain just that.
Also, using Windows Experience Index does not impress me at all.
Tell us what fps and resolution it plays crysis and other games at, encodes video, compresses/extracts files, and all that other stuff.
    THAT is a real benchmark.

Not that this would be worth it with those benchmarks though. What I'm saying is, if you want to boast about it's specs, use an industry standard, not something that was outdated before it came out like the Windows Experience Index.

    • Yes, windows benchmark is a pretty crappy benchmark.

I guess HTPCs aren't really geared towards performance though.

  • not a bargain in my view

    • Hi snow36009,

We'd be happy to hear why. = )

      • Oh and when will you support PayPal?

        • Hi xDEFiNE,

          We already accept PayPal payments.

    Important!

I have spoken with this Rep on Skype.

He is paying out of his own pocket if your computer fails after the manufacturers period but before the "claimed" 3 year warranty.

When asked about replacing it if something did go wrong in the warranty period, he said
"I'm sorry, but we are confident about our product's reliability."
"We do quality testing, and we already cover a longer period than most manufacturers."
    "We carefully select parts"

He also took 5mins to respond to each question and did not seem to know what he was doing…

The payment is via direct deposit. I'm starting to think #1 You won't receive the computer or #2 you will get no warranty support at all.

    Stay away!

  • It's just a pc with blu-ray drive, tv tuner, and Xbox360 Wireless Gaming Receiver.

This deal is obviously for people who have absolutely no idea about computers, as you don't list the exact specs and you're trying to tell customers how good it is by using windows experience index.

    4GB memory
    1.8TB usable hard disk drive
    DVD player + burner
2 × digital + analogue terrestrial TV tuners
Up to 300 hours of HDTV recording storage supplied
Up to 300,000 12 megapixel photo or 292,500 4-minute song or 300-hour 1080P video capacity

On your website, how about listing the actual specs instead of stuff like this.

    • Hi ozhunter,

We'll take your suggestions into consideration for future products.

  • The fact that Corwin is using Windows Experience Scores and not listing specific parts suggests that he doesn't have the parts on hand and hasn't sourced them yet, so he can't make any guarantees on what parts he will give you in your HTPC. This is just what I think.

On the warranty issue, I guess companies have to start somewhere, but not backing the warranty with an insurance company does make it more risky as mentioned in previous comments. This might be because of a lack to capital to pay insurance premiums, which also ties in with my assumption that he doesn't have the parts on hand, i.e. trying to start/run this company with very low capital, paying for parts as the money comes in maybe? Again this is just what I think.

  • Hi Corwin,
Here's a free biz idea for you - Attractive htpcs that play well with Hackintoshed Mac OS X. No need to scream it from the rooftops (or else Apple might get a bit shirty about trademarks), but just let it be known that
    a) This is a nice looking HTPC/Small Form Factor PC that we sell
    b) It just so happens that all the hardware in it plays well with a certain fruit shaped Operating System :)
Bonus points if you can price them at something less than a Mac Mini - I'd buy one

    • Hi zephram,

Interesting. Thanks for the suggestion. = )

  • Windows experience index means zero
had my pc for for 3 years and apart from graphics card it exceeds your specs and guess what i paid under 1k with monitor from dell
    CPU core 2 duo e8400 (6.5)
    ram 3gb (6.7)
Hard disk (5.9) as no ssd
graphics ($50 card as i dont play games)5.5

i'll put in a ssd and updat graphics card for$100 and sell it to you for $1800 as its better than you gold class
