      • If I buy now, and I want to port in a number in Nov, would this be the process?

        1. Take a $2 Sim to counter, and tell them I wan't a $150 recharge for a total of $135? or will the total amount automatically adjust to $135?
        2. Wait until Nov and port number using the $2 Sim, once active, recharge with the code on the voucher?
        3. Is there a step three?
        • Normally both will add up to $152, but as it's a catalogue item, it will combine both to $135.

All of your steps are correct. Just make sure the $2 sim is valid until at least the date you want to activate it.

Thanks guys, it went all good. I scanned two $2 SIM packs at self-checkout and clicked 'look up an item' and chose $150 12 month plan under prepaid-Boost menu. It automatically waived $4 for SIM packs. The sum was $270 which is $135*2.

      • +1

Cheers - couldn't figure out how to get it until I read this. This should be in the original post

  • Gift cards work

    • Did you use physical or eGift card? At the self-service checkout or cashier?

      • Physical cards at the cashier

      • I used Suncorp's electronic gift card at cashier and it worked. Even tacked on flybuys points for an extra $20 off.

        • I forgot about my flybuys whst was it worth using flybuys too late now

      • I scanned my Coles egift card at Coles West End and it didn’t work

        • were there any $2 sims or the $150 packs at west end?

        • e-giftcard didn't work for us at self-checkout - they took us around to cashier, and we used e-giftcard + physical giftcard combo to purchase there fine.

  • Is this 80gb per month?

  • Ported my number over from Amaysim. However when I open the Recharge in the app, it shows an error: Sorry, an unexpected error has occured.

    Anyone has the same issue?

    • My wife is with amysim and i got here this deal today, whats the steps to move over how doea one port to boost then what? Its been a while so cant remember.im already with boost so should be use voucher and im done right.

      • +1

You need a Boost SIM card for her, either the $2 SIM if you bought recharge voucher or the SIM that comes with the $150 kit. Activate the SIM from Boost website and Telstra will send validation code via SMS to her mobile number. Once you validate the port request the port process will start.

        • -1

Im already on boost i pay each month so i believe as im with boost my current sim is good and i just instead of paying another month just use this voucher $150.

Wife is on amaysim so i will have to see when her next payment is due as it comes off bank account each month.

I did pick up the $2 sims for myself and her as was free just incase I needed it,but i know she will.
You say a $150 kit? But this aint a kit? It's voucher for $150 for $135 and a sim was i supposed to ask for a kit?
Activate the sim from boost website do you mean put the sim in her phone? And are you saying once I do telstra sends code to her phone and starts the porting. How do i know when its done? Then does she just use her voucher and she is all set?

Obviously i need to see when her next payment is due on amaysim and cancel asap. So while porting she cant use her phone right? Im sure people have been waiting ages for a number to port over if so that's crazy leaving so people hanging while the wait on porting.

Its been a while since i did port a number so have no idea.

@bwatt72: My reply was for porting your wife's number. For yourself you're right, you just need the recharge voucher.

Some people mentioned they previously bought $150 SIM pack so I assume there is one, but seems not always in stock. Hence it's more common to get $2 SIM + recharge voucher.

You don't need to put the new SIM in your wife's phone while porting, I only put my Boost SIM in after porting was successful.

            1. Go to https://activate.boost.com.au/ and do activation on that page. I didn't even open the SIM card packaging at this time, you can find the SIM serial number on the back of the pack.

            2. Once you completed all the steps, Telstra will send her SMS containing validation code and the URL to enter it. So her current mobile number must be active.

            3. Go to the URL in the SMS and enter the 6-digit code. Porting process will start.

            4. Later on (time varies between people) she should receive an SMS/email from her current provider notifying the port.

            5. Once porting is done she'll get another SMS & email from Boost. I only put in my new Boost SIM after getting the email that said porting was successful.

You should be able to use the recharge voucher afterwards.

Until porting is successful she should be able to use her phone. I'd suggest you do porting few days before the next payment is due just in case it takes longer. Remember she needs to be able to receive that validation code so her old SIM must be active.

Mine only took few hours because I ported outside their hours (midnight, completed at 8am) but some took longer (or shorter). HTH!

            • @BlackMothra: Top reply after trying to make sense of hard to read questions.

Great to see helpful patient people on here :-)

            • @BlackMothra: I am waiting for porting.

Just wondering, after porting do we recharge the $150 and then put the boost sim in the phone?

              • +1

@ATTS: You will have to put the SIM in first and then recharge via care.boost.com.au (whilest not on WiFi) or dialling #111#

There is an option to recharge on their website, but I don't think you can use your recharge voucher via this method

  • Does this have an expiry date for activating?

    • I purchased today and it said Apr 2021.

  • Grabbed one, hopefully this qualifies as a $70 spend on flybuys and gives me $21 extra back.

    • I forgot to swipe my flybuys what would it be worth in points if i had?

      • I have a spend $70 at Coles to get 4200 points thing activated on mine, without that you might get like 70 cents worth of points.

  • No issues with just chucking it in an iPad to use for data only?

(I don't see any better deal on data only sims on Telstra network)

    • I tried Telstra mobile plan for iPad and it did not work. Probably the same for Boost.

      • Just to clarify, you put a Telstra sim from a mobile phone in to an iPad and the iPad wouldn't use the data?

        • That was a brand new mobile plan SIM from Telstra. Put it in iPad, didn't get data, called Telstra and was told mobile plan does not work on iPad. They must have known whether the device is a tablet or not. Mobile plans are actually cheaper than data only plan and that's why I tried that but did not work with Telstra.

          • @hiaaron: Thanks mate. I really appreciate the info.
I just tried my regular Optus sim and had no issues. I’ll be sure to check the boost one before I do the big top up.

    • Correct me if I’m wrong. Mobile SIM sim should work on a tablet device but a data only SIM will not work on a mobile phone.

  • Got the 2 sims for $121.5 each (135 minus 10% team member discount) waiting from month

    • +1

Can you help me buy one?

    • 10% team member discount for Coles!?

      • Yeah m working at coles

      • That's a lot more than when I worked for Coles Myer. I think it was 5% back then.

      • usual is 5%, unless savtar13's store won store of the year or something

        • +3

Yes u r absolutely right last year our store was store of the year that’s why i got 10%

    • Can you help me buy one too?

  • +3

Got the run around trying to buy this at Coles. Some little chap at the Collingwood store didn't want to know, said if there wasn't a card displaying the deal on the rack they didn't have it, bye. Way nicer staff at Heidelberg but they didn't know what to do either, despite checking the deal in the catalogue.

So, I grabbed a $2 sim and asked for a BOOST $150 RECHARGE VOUCHER at the till. Sure enough the $150 80MB 12 month deal came up at $135, including a free SIM. Voucher says expires 17/01/2021 but I'll port over in a couple of weeks when my current deal runs out.

    • -1

      only 80mb?

  • Are SIM cards provider specific? I'm waiting for my Telstra to port over, but its taking a while. So I've just bought a Kogan deal. Wondering if I need to wait for the sim to arrive to activate it?

    • Which Kogan deal are you referring to? Just curious.

  • Can you get this deal at Coles Express or only Coles?

  • +1

Got it from the northland store, can confirm heaps of $2 sims still in stock.

I noticed a couple comments above had trouble identifying this pack. This offer is not a pack at all, it is a $150 recharge voucher that you get for $135 (plus you get the sim free). In all, you pay $135 to get a 150 dollar recharge and a 2 dollar sim.

Will port in a weeks time once my current plan expires.

  • I went to my store asked if they had the boost deal for $135 its in the catalogue lady said there was various amounts but thats it i said its in your catalogue then she said while still looking on her screen yes there is.
I said i believe there is a sim card as part of deal, she showed me where sims where so grabbed one. Then she went on screen again and said your right $135 with sim
My next question was can i use gift cards she said right away no cant as its cards, vouchers etc at this point i said you serious i just purchased gift cards for this and been told you can use them. Then she said hold on its declined and further down the receipt approved with voucher number,so phew. By this time there was a few people starting to gather and i said it says one per customer can i do another as its one for me and wife. So grabbed another sim,i dont need the sim as already on boost but just incase i took one as free. I only got 4% off my coles gift cards but was still a $10 plus saving and it was a $200 a $50 and x4 $5 to make the $270 needed. So you can imagine i was getting some evil looks from others waiting lol. But who cares its not my set uo but coles you would think there be a quicker way. Obviously if i could order the one card at $270 i would.
I never thought to check the expire on sims but plan to set mine and wife up soon. But i did forget to scan my flybuys which is a bugger now sure what that was worth.

    • 2000 Flybuys points = $10 so $270 worths about $1.35

      • Ok lol thought I had missed out on extra points/deal

  • Rocked up to Coles Camberwell and asked where recharge sims are. The guy just asked 'boost? Come round here to the register' and then just gave me the $150 voucher and sim card without asking anything lol. Too easy.

    • Did you use gift voucher?

      • What gift voucher?

        • Does it count towards qualified spend for fb bonus points? Any idea?

  • +2

Just grabed one. So it's a voucher, not a sim with credits. Almost all store staffs don't know about this and will simply tell you it's out of stock. Just tell them to look in the system for a recharge voucher instead. Make sure to pick up a $2 sim as well. The sim card is for free when purchasing with the voucher.
Sim card will be expired May 2021, and the voucher expires in April 2021. So I assume you can stash these.

  • Anything 12 month plan cheaper than this? Yes, yes I know, it's already great. Looking one for mum and she hardly ever use the phone and only consume 10-15gig a year. Thanks.

    • If you find aldi $99 for one year , unlimited and 1gb a month. Check your local aldi, no sure if they still have it but worth trying

      • +1

        Thank-you. Will have a look.

Bought one today. Just so everyone knows. You get a $2 sim card. Take to counter and they give you a $150 recharge code. Total price $135.
It's not a $150 Boost card. Wish I knew earlier. 1st shop I went to said they didn't have it.

    • It's not a $150 Boost card. Wish I knew earlier. 1st shop I went to said they didn't have it.

      Aha!

  • Has anyone been with amaysim before got this deal today from boost for wife but how the hell do amaysim get the monthly payments? Card expired last year and yet payment still come off and says on amaysim to update card? How do I cancel when the card is already expired? Unless I'm set up with direct debit but I would see that. Anyone know the best method to cancel I could contact them but they might just take one last payment for the hell of it.
Or a visit to bank to cancel would that be best.
Obviously I need to get this boost set up but also need to cancel this amaysim before 6 days when they will charge an extra months payment.

  • I was just curious when you cancel payment with your Current provider amaysim, but obviously want to port your number to boost can you do this still port after payment is canceled? Wife amysim due in 6 days and I want to set her up with boost and use her current number. Not sure if I need to start porting number asap and then get things in place to cancel my he amaysim payment.

    • I reckon your number remains active with the provider even after you stop payment - not sure for how many days though. Worth checking with Amaysim and they will be able to give exact details.

  • Can't find any $2 Boost SIM card kits around me.

Is this deal available at Coles Express?

  • Does anyone use Boost mobile with Xiaomi MiA1? Trying to see that there’s no issue with Telstra network bands.

  • I can confirm that Coles e-gift cards work with this. A self checkout counter was acting weird and throwing some random error but I went to the customer service helpdesk and gift cards worked without any issues. Unfortunately they didn’t have gift card scanner either so they had to enter the gift card number manually though.

  • +5

ya go to your local coles, find the $2 boost sim (if they got them), go to self service checkouts, scan the sim, then select "item lookup" ( like looking up fruit/veg), choose prepaid/recharge from top menu, then find and choose "boost,$150, 12 month, 80gb". It will then ring up as $135 with the sim at $0.00. My sim expires in 2022 and the voucher in April 2021 so plenty of time to use.

    • Does the recharge code print out on the receipt?

      • Yes it did. I did exactly the same as Gr8deel did. The voucher code was printed on the receipt.

        • Cool thanks

    • Did this. Bit of effort the staff had to come over a few times to fix barcode and approve issue date

  • Can anyone confirm Aldi to Boost pouring gas no issues?

    • sorry I meant porting over….

  • Does anyone know if recharging before expiry would extend credit expiry by 12m on the day of recharge or extend by 12m of the original credit expiry date?

    • Nothing gets extended when you recharge - It will start a new 12 months and any unused data will not carry over.

    • I already spoked about this with Boost customer care, recharging will not extend expiry. Your new plan will start as soon as you recharge but if you have data it will be rolled over

      • I could be wrong, but my understanding is that data rollover only applies to the 28 day expiry recharges, not the 6/12 month recharges.

        • not rollover applies to all

          • +1

            @randomrandom: https://boost.com.au/CIS_25022019.pdf

Critical information summary suggests otherwise. Data rollover is not listed under the long expiry plane.

            • +1

@Cucumber123: I have confirmed this with them yesterday and almost 4 months ago when I joined Boost, in two different times two different persons confirmed this to me. Strange, I have talked to customer service now and asked clearly and they are saying long term expiry plans are not eligible. What a joke, thanks a lot for bringing this up

  • There were 2 x $2 SIM cards left at Hurstville Station Coles as of 7am this morning. It is located near the self checkout, at the gift card section and opposite the dog food fridge. Boost sims are at the bottom of the shelve.

  • There were heaps of $2 SIM card at Coles at South Village in Kirrawee. They were near the check-out counter and on the same shelf as other gift cars/SIM card on the last aisle as well.

  • Anyone knows whether This can collect flybuy points? I got the flybuy spend $90 and get back 5400 points ($27) deal.

    • I think so, people have mentioned that you can even buy with flybuys points

    • Confirmed, just got 4200 points that I had for a $70 spend come through.

  • Yay ported my number this morning. Took under 60 minutes.

  • -1

Why do these deals get so many positive votes? I would have thought OzBargainers would do the thrifty thing and port between different providers every month

    • +1

Well I want to stay with Telstra network so my options are Aldi, Boost, Woolworths and Belong. I never use more than 3Gb a month so want the cheapest monthly cost (not necessarily cheapest per Gb). I was paying $20/3Gb with WW before moving to Boost. Aldi cheapest is $15/Gb, Belong is $25/10Gb, Boost is $12.50/6Gb.

Save me from porting each month :)

Praying for $100/50Gb/year plan from any Telstra MVNO

    • Because some people can’t be bother to do it every month or even 3. I am pretty happy with 1 year recharges. Makes my life super easy :)

      • +1

This^. Its such a pain in our @rses to do this, we got 5 mobile numbers in our family, you can imagine that … Yearly jump is the best way for us.

        • Same for me. We have 4 mobiles, I could maybe do but only for mine, however to save only a few dollar it’s only a waste of time and stress.

    • This is 'good enough' compared to the porting around. Porting around would cost me $5 a month or so doing catch/kogan/etc and give me headaches especially with kogan now requiring you to RESPOND to SMS to port through.

Basically this offer cost me like $110 with my flybuys bonus and e-giftcards which is < $10 a month.

Also having been with every provider now, unfortunately only Telstra gives me good reception. Vodafone is almost unusable for me and Optus randomly sucks too.

And my favorite feature of Boost is that I can take my phone overseas and still receive SMS for free without roaming charges

If you only want the recharge. Just use a self service checkout. Get the Boost $150 recharge and it will appear for $135.

    Thanks OP

  • +1

Hi all, there were hips in coles Engadine. As they have already said you can buy just the recharge from checkout (sim will be then free :) expiry date on the sim is 31/05/2021 while voucher will expire in April 2021

  • Just noticed my email said spend $50 at coles get 2000 pts i take as i never scanned my card I can't get this now,i grabbed two of these from coles

  • Hi All,

Anyone ported from Belong to Boost lately. Any feedback on times?

Do they ask for the Belong account number since Belong is technically Post Paid? or do they use date of birth for the port?

    Cheers

    • I was with Belong and went through the porting process yesterday near midnight. I got a confirmation email this morning that I have been successfully ported
