      • That is my current status of a number. Others report similar

    • If I have two weeks in my Kogan… Does it mean I will have to recharge my Kogan to keep receiving service until port is finalised?
Also… Does it mean you are spending "days" from Boost while you are still waiting for port.
      I am really confused.

      • no idea it seems random some people are fine. u might have no issues - all I know is I am still waiting more than 3 weeks later and so are hundreds of others. Helstra have been experiencing issues for well over a month. One guy took a while month to port.

      • +1

You don't need to recharge Kogan unless you want to make calls/send SMS in the interim until you're ported-in, if you don't recharge you'll still receive calls and SMS.
I ported from Kogan last month - after waiting impatiently three days I called the port-in team on 1800 631 334 and they did the port within 10 minutes.
My plan expiry was calculated from the date I was ported-in, not the earlier sign-up date.

  • Great Deal, I was looking into this a while back and this triggered the purchase.
I ported today from OPTUS Pre-Paid Plan to Boost. Took 30mins only from application to working SIM.

    But yes, random story below

Man, my local Coles staff have no clue. I called like 5 stores. All saying they have run out of the $150 stock.
Where its actually the $2 SIM card they needed to look for. They were all so hopeless, saying we can't find the $150 recharge stock.
Don't deal with staff on weekends, they don't have a clue.
I went to the Box Hill store, told they don't have it. Made me go and call so many stores only to find out that all I needed to do was just purchase the recharge and get the $2 SIM elsewhere by the Heidelberg Coles. Shout out to them who knew what was going on.
So I told my housemate, whom today went to the Box Hill Store and low and behold the staff at the counter actually knew how to process the sale. rolls eyes
I'm just pissed off of the time I wasted chasing the stupid stores. Where the original store I went to had it all along

    • If you had read comments you could have seen that is just a voucher at the till. You can buy even if there is no $2 in stock (better if there is as then it’s free)

  • Great deal, thanks OP

Going to share my experience with activation

Bought a $2 Sim at Officeworks last week. Three Coles stores I went to didn't have a single $2 Sim on the racks, but they had all other starter packs.

Registered the sim off Boost activation site - also entered porting details from Vodafone. Got a voicemail the next morning from Boost saying there was something wrong with my order , if I could call them back and a reference ID. Stayed on the phone for 50min on the Saturday morning. Hung up and went on the online chat where the Care agent took my ref ID, serial number of starter pack, details and resubmitted a port in request from Vodafone

Got a text from Telstra (Boost) within 5minutes with a website link, entered the port-in code and within 10min my number was on Boost.

Recharged with the above recharge, which I got off Coles and all good to go. I feel the online chat is the quickest way to get up and running with port ins. I believe the chat is 24/7 too. Make sure you get past the chat bot by entering in something random (ie I entered "reference" three times before it connected me to a real person / Boost care)

    Hope that helps

  • anyone know how long the credit will last before we need to activate ie. can I buy now and activate in 3 month?

    • Answered above: from memory, the expiry on the $150 vouchers is sometime in March/April 2021, so yes definitely! :)

    • Yes (mine expires in April 2021)

  • Coles Express said they wouldn't do the deal, they had plenty of $2 sims

It was the same lady so I couldn't ask someone else

Is this true because they don't do sales?

    • First thing you see when you click the Coles catalogue

Promotional prices not available at Coles Express (unless otherwise indicated), Coles George Street, Coles St Leonards or Coles Wynyard. Some promotional prices may not be available at coles.com.au, Coles Casuarina, Coles Banora Central, Coles Banora Point, Coles Tweed City, Coles Tweed Heads, Coles Broken Hill, Coles Albury or Coles Lavington. Refer to catalogue for full terms and conditions.

      • Thanks, bought it without the sim card.

Now I just gotta walk around and find those starter packs on sale!

        • Try your regular convenience store they should have them

          • @currentfad: Will do, currently waiting for my current credit to expire then ill grab a boost sim i see on sale (or I'll just grab the cheapest one available if the time comes), activate that and then the recharge.

            • @MelBorn: Are you porting over to Boost? If so, don’t let your old SIM expire as you need to receive SMS on it before they can port your number.

              • @BlackMothra: Thanks I did not know that, I'll keep that in mind when I port over. Need to get a boost sim first though and I still have some time before my current prepaid expires.

Do you need to recieve an sms, or send an sms?

                • @MelBorn: Receive. They'll send you an SMS with a verification code and link to plug the code into so they can confirm that the number is actually yours.

                  • +1

@GreenGuava: Thanks I just walked around the city today and found plenty of $30 boost sim packs for $15 so I grabbed one

              • @BlackMothra: @blackmothra what do you mean abount don't let your old sim expite? Im helping wife with hers. We changed our plan on amaysim to pay as you go and then today put in the boost sim went on boost and did the process to port. It says in wifes email can take 4 hrs to 24 hrs where does she get notified that her is ported over? By txt, email or does she need to put in her old sim again. Im a bit confused. She did get an email early on but maybe its already ported over?

                • @bwatt72: Go back to page 5 of this comments thread, I wrote a step by step porting process for your wife many days ago. Please read that.

                  • @BlackMothra: I must have missed this wish i had seen this prior as never did the same.
Obviously changed her amaysim to payg few days prior to another payment due and several days after the date it went to payg decided to start port.
But i put in boost sim right away went through the steps it said in there site. She got an email and said it take 4 to 24 hrs.
Waited almost 24 hrs nothing changed so went on live chat they checked up and everything seemed ok.
But they said i needed to wait to get a txt from old sim so put that in and was nothing there. I never even knew i had to still use old sim prior.
I said to live chat no txt yet on old sim its been almost 24 hrs and later on chat ot came through.which gave i think a code i had to put in if i remember telstra site.
Boost tells me on that day now that part is done can install boost sim back in and i should have the port done by end of the day.
Later today it be another 24hrs and nothing has changed.
New boost sim is in card right now so what is the problem now. Obviously them saying i be up and running by end of yesterday was a load of crap.
Just wished i had seen your steps prior as did it so much different. Probably never got tagged on that message you posted and probably why it was missed.
So what now wife can't use phone until porting is done i think she gets messages and txt but dont think she can do anything else.
Ok if my steps had been done right might have been quicker but 48 hrs soon to be later nothing has changed yet.

  • Data point: Ported from vodafone Saturday evening around 2000, came through 1030 AEST Monday. I didn't read the part about business hours; but it came through reasonably quick in business hours I guess. Just don't do it on the weekend maybe?

  • +1

I got finally ported from Kogan to Boost. The initial porting process started on Thursday 26 September around 9:00 AM. I got an email and validation SMS done by 10:00 AM. I call them thrice to check what the issue and they say all information correct, and the porting is in the queue, need to wait. Finally, the porting happened on Monday 30 September 5:55 PM.

I recharge with the voucher code today morning, so the validity is until 30 September 2020.

  • Hi guys sorry if it was already mentioned, but I can’t see the information. Anyway if you buy 1 month sim (let’s say the 30gb one) and then load the 1 year does the data left over from the 1 month rollover or does it get wiped out? Thanks

    • +1

I believe wiped out. Long expiry SIM doesn't have data rollover.

      • Cheers

    • I just applied the 12mth voucher to the last day of my 1mth plan. The remaining data did not get wiped out and is used as priority until its expiry date. https://i.imgur.com/dL7hSbp.png

  • Can you buy two vouchers and use them consecutively - ie bank up 2 years of credit?

    • +3

When you apply the voucher it resets any existing credit, so you can't bank 2 years. You'd have to hold onto the voucher, and recharge when the first one expires / runs out.

Which is fine, given the long expiry (April 2021)…although probably unnecessary, as the sale will probably be on again before then, if not better plans available!

Personally, I would just buy one for now, and what to see what happens. No need to stock up this far in advance. (Although, I did buy one now, even though my current 12 months doesn't end until March 2020 - needed one for my fiance, and mine was close enough that I just bought one for me too!)

      • I agree with the above.

Saying that the one I purchased 24/04/2019 had an expire date of 17/01/2021.

  • Failed to activate SIM online. Got an email to contact support. Activated through chat.

  • I missed.. Is anyone with spare one wanna sell?

  • I am waiting for porting.

Just wondering, after porting do we recharge the $150 and then put the boost sim in the phone?

  • I put in the porting req at 11.30 am… Its 2.30 pm and no news yet. I did get the sms to verify my number, so that parts done. Many have noted porting only took them a few mins, so I'm having a sinking feeling and worried about running into porting issues.

Boost chat did assure me that the port request was 'healthy' and that I just have to wait 24-48 working hours. Porting never took this long with other telcos in the past.

    • Finally porting is complete! Took 28 hours.

  • Hahaha i just walked to the store and loaded this page to find out its expired.
I will wait for the next offer i guess to switch the missus' number from Telstra pan to this. I still have until end of Nov.

Will wait to see if Telstra offers me anything first

Do Telstra plans automatically go to month-to- month once the contract is finished?

  • When the international minutes run out does it just cut out? And you wont be charged extra?

    • It’s a prepaid, they can’t charge you.

      • Oh right. Thanks

  • Took 9 days, 2 chats, 6 phone calls, 3 port attempts, 1 TIO complaint for my port from Kogan to Boost to complete.
Biggest annoyance is trying to get through to the Telstra number.
Tried all times of day, giving up after hold times of up to 80mins.
After the TIO complaint Telstra called me a couple of times, put me in a queue and then say they were busy and to ring them when they weren't busy!
