    No Cheap…$168. without Harddisk…

This is standard pricing, get back to us when you have an actual bargain. Maybe you guys shouldn't have mega bought so many this time.

It's worth again mentioning mega buys attempted price-fixing and General dodgy behaviour during the initial $169 deal on these..
    http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=1697165

Mega buy, you won't be getting mod assisted censorship on this site like you do on ocau.

    • What censorship? We posted HP MediaSmart Servers a while back and the users were able to post what they thought, have a look for yourself.

Just because we sponsor OCAU, does not mean we are exempt from peoples opinions.

      • +3

        What censorship?

Exactly, it wouldn't be proper censorship if there were any traces left. They do a real good job of it over there.

        • -2

The users comments are in plain view, have a look for yourself.

        • +4

          face… meet palm.

        • Very dodgy…

  • +3

You might have better luck trying to sell the base one for $250… If the original bargain price was ~$170 and HP then got in the action by selling them direct for $199… It's going to be a hard ask to get very many sales from Ozbargainers for $299!!

    • +1

Agreed, $250 shipped is about what they are going for now at the likes of warcom etc. You're going to have to better that to be worthy of bargain status. Pretty soon places like dessytek will be wanting to offload their stock because it isn't moving at these higher prices.

  • +2

The web site says $289 delivered for the base unit. NOT $299 as the store rep has posted. Doesn't instill much confidence in using this company.

    • -1

One digit entered incorrectly makes you lose confidence in us? Everyone makes mistakes!

  • +1

    Staticice shows cheaper sellers.
However, avoid the cheapest, Computer World. They went into administration a few years back leaving customers and creditors in the red. Reopened with another family member as head.

  • -1

We sold them for $170 last time as well. However, our cost price has risen and we have decided to NOT sell at $5 or $10 above our cost like others. The RRP on the MicroServers by themselves is $599, we are still selling these for over $300 off that!

    • +2

Cost price is always an argument that car dealers and salesmen used and I don't buy into this.

    • +3

Wait… you really want to go there again.?..
      http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=1697165

    • +3

A bargain is cheaper than the others not cheaper than the RRP. Come back to us when you have a great deal otherwise we will go to those that are selling $5 $10 above cost price which you, yourself, admit will not match.

    • +2

lol, you're trying to use the RRP argument over here in this place of all places??!! Good luck.

  • Yeh and they've forgotten about a photo they've posted on various forums bagging the other resellers in relation to these servers.

I've recently put in a order for a printer as they turned out to be the cheapest on Staticice, couldn't order it online ended up calling them. Their staff was rude, keep insisting to use the online shop (it doesn't work you ergo the call) and hanged up on me. At the end, I've bought the same printer for $5 more but the other reseller was far easier to deal with…

  • -1

Guys, we aren't forcing you to buy from us, if you can get it cheaper somewhere else, go for it, but we just thought we would post what we think is a good deal from our end.

    • +1

Based on the number of neg's, you should think harder next time.

    • yeah well, that's the problem, we're getting too many reps offering what they think are bargains… when in reality…

could reps please re-read the Ozbargain rules & guidelines:
      http://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/help:rules_guidelines

Especially note the "CHECK competitors prices before posting."

If any forum member finds cheaper, it's simple, you get a Neg!!

I hereby change my neutral vote to a neg.

    • +1

If we can get it cheaper elsewhere, doesn't that mean this isn't a bargain? I don't normally neg but this isn't a bargain therefore IMO it deserves a neg.

      • -2

Afaik, we are the only ones with stock at the moment so we can actually send these out immediately, so I'd say we are the cheapest, unless someone else still has stock.

    • Well you're alone in thinking this is a good deal! Good luck getting rid of your stock now that HP has offloaded a whole bunch more at a reasonable price.

  • +3

    Dear OzBargain,
Thank you for a most informative set of feedback. This is why I come here.
    Love,

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-STOCK-HP-ProLiant-N36L-MicroS… And they listed on here when they were so called sold out

    • In reality, you could go read some WP threads for an ACTUAL explanation of our eBay listings. I know you didn't say anything negative, but that listing is current, and right now we do have stock.

      • +2

Does it explain why people were left on backorder while you added $150 and threw them on ebay for a quick profit?

        • From memory, we bought around 300 or 350 units and these sold very quickly (website even went down) and we had to turn customers away and had to cancel their orders after putting them in back order. A few days later, we received like 5-10 extra units which we popped onto eBay. It's the simple truth, we sold these at prices so low we needed to recoup some of our expenses.

  • How dare you try and make a profit MegaBuy! All this talk of overheads and cost price is just business speak for we're ripping you off.

But on a serious note, I grabbed one from you guys in the initial onslaught at around $190 delivered and was very happy to take advantage of the price war. Obviously these are still in demand and a somewhat scarce product, so all the best in trying to recoup some of your costs from the initial loss lead sale.

    • -1

Yeah, we don't need profit to survive… :P

Finally, one person that understands what a business has to do, glad you are happy with your purchase from us, hope to deal with you again!

    • +4

There was no loss lead sale, every single one of these sold for profit, even at the initial $169. What are you on about?

MB tried to do a spot of price-fixing, to make even more profit, but failed. Then they proceeded to Borden via ebay. And brag about it all on wp.

      • You are correct, we didn't sell at a loss. However, it was so close to our cost that after all expenses we weren't making much at all, and it wasn't working out for us.. It seems that if we don't sell at 2% markup or lower, people are never happy.

        • +1

Which was my point. Once you take into account overheads (especially with the magnitude of the sale) I'm amazed you guys still made a profit on the sale at all. Congrats.

        • +6

Maybe you could cut down on your expenses by not wasting time digging yourself into holes on social media sites.

    • I doubt there is an initial loss from that sale, megabuy just profit less from $190.

    • +5

The issue isn't the fact they are making a profit.
It's that this deal isn't worth of being on OzBargain

      • +2

You're right, there are obviously better deals out there presently (though none that currently have stock available afaik). But that hasn't been the tone of many of the responses on here.

      • +4

        It's OzBargain not OzAdvertise

        :D

        • lol - I agree. But it's not OzFlame either :D

I shouldn't have pos'd this deal though. Was frustrated by the responses I was seeing and let that get the best of me. There are currently better deals out there.

  • +2

No Bargain (doesn;t even meet OZB rules for checking competitiors prices first) = Neg

    • -3

They may be listed as cheaper, but as far as I know, we are the only ones with stock.

      • +2

No true, Dessytek has stock, and its cheaper - MegaBuy, I'm not convinced.
        http://www.dessytek.com.au/store.php?desc=HP-633724-011&spec…
(got mine there, delivery (for me) was next day)

        • -3

Hmm, wasn't aware of this. Go ahead and buy from cheaper competitors if you like, we just put our deals out there and got flamed.

  • +2

    +1 for dessytek.

Cheaper, arrived in no time and not jerks.

In a way I'm glad this got posted, now I get to neg it :P

  • foul taste in mouth…wouldn't be surprised if the business tanks from this kind of social marketing

  • Way to kill your own business by acting like holier than thou jerks on a number of websites. Aside from that this is not in any way shape or form a "bargain"
