Isn't the NBN Co removing the 12/1 tier?

      no

12 is slower than the speeds available when Malcom Turnbull originally invented the internet.

    • one of my clients is lucky to get 2 to 3 Mbps on ADSL2.

I’d avoid anything flip if it’s similar to their fliptv network.
We tried their Japanese fliptvv and it was terrible.
I can’t imagine their internet service being any better

  • Hi ! I am abit confused that pay an extra month in advance means the second bill or what ever i will get 1 month credit or refund one month when stop using ? I am using Mate nbn for the same speed for $59. The only thing holding me back is Mate is in au base and good customer service.
    Thanks

    • You need to cancel 2 months in advance. PIA plans are non refundable.

Legitimately get a headache seeing OP trying to post garbage this as an actual bargain.

This a bargain for my old mum. She's slowly been creeped up in pricing from $40 with Belong to $50 and now $60. For and old age pensioner that just wants access so the kids/grandkids can skype, or use for light streaming services I reckon $40/month is pretty awesome. Better the $20 in her bank account.

        What's here instagram account?

      • slower internet isn't just for the pensioners. i'm going through a rough financial patch, was basically forced onto NBN, had to buy a modem etc. i'm not paying more than the $50 for adsl i used to have. as much as people like to crap on about how slow it is, it actually is quicker for me since adsl was pretty damn slow compared to the average. and i get 500gb vs 50gb. fvck spintel's piss poor customer service and credit card surcharges, though.

    • If you don't like the bargain fair enough but no need to be rude to the OP.

  • In the nbn fact sheet, it’s stated that 12mb plan does not support HD and 4K video streaming. Is that correct?

      1080p works. 4K no.

I don't think 12Mbps meets the legal definition of broadband anymore.

    • +2

      Nearly
      Broadband
      Network

    • "Broadband is often referred to as high-speed broadband or high-speed Internet because it usually involves a high rate of data transmission. The term broadband is not strictly defined however. The OECD indicates that broadband refers to Internet connectivity which provides access with download speeds of at least 0.256 Megabits per second (Mbps). By contrast, the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) states that the term broadband does not refer to either a certain speed or a specific service. Rather, broadband combines connection capacity (bandwidth) and speed. Despite this, the ITU has produced a recommendation that broadband be considered connectivity with a transmission capacity faster than 1.5Mbps."

      Lol. 1.5Mbps.

  • I would totaly get this for my old lady to save her few bucks.. On kogan now and CBF changing …

  • $40 NBN12 no lock in contract. What’s all the complaining about. Don’t like it after a month then move on, no problem!

    • It's technically a 2 month contract. To get the #39.90 pricing, you must pay the first 2 months worth in advance and it is not refundable. The "penalty" is losing part of the initial $79.80. This is similar to those prepaid 90 and 365 day mobile plans that are advertised as having no lock in contract, but if you leave prematurely, you lose what you haven't used.

Still a great deal for people willing to temper their expectations. Price beat guarantee is a nice cherry on top as well.

Not really, technically, its just prepay for a month to get that price…
