[TAS, VIC] LittleBits Korg Electronic Synth Kit $80 (Was $298) @ Officeworks, Hobart (Possibly Nationwide)

120

The LittleBits sets are entry-level electronics and gadget kits that pretty much anyone can build. No wiring or soldering, just snap the modules together using the built in magnets. They're neat little sets, although usually ridiculously overpriced. I paid $125 for my LittleBits Korg set a while ago and thought it was a bargain at the time. The Korg set is great - you can create some great fat analog synth sounds just like a 70's Korg. Perfect for kids who are into either music or technology or both!

Currently selling half price for $149.98 at EB Games, or $244 at Amazon.

Officeworks web site no longer lists it for sale so it's possible it's only being cleared at the Hobart store at this price - if anyone sees it anywhere else please post in the comments and I'll update it to nationwide.

EDIT - stock in Victoria too, see comments below

The code on the tag is 810876020060

iWorlds code is LB-650-0124, if that helps.

650-0124 is the code from Little Bits. The above code is the UPC Barcode

  • I still think it's overpriced at that price. There are plenty of synth modules around second-hand for less.

Are you sure you're comparing apples with apples? This is an electronics teaching kit which allows you to assemble a basic synthesiser. More for education than as an instrument. I'm not sure there would be many competing products available second hand.

      • True, you are correct. 34 Years ago I had a book on making your own Synth from scratch, designing your own circuit boards then connecting it up (Buying a Juno 106 was easier).
This kit is an easy way of doing, but if as a kid you wanted new sounds for a midi keyboard, a sound module might be better value (still fun). :)

        • 34 years ago a hand-built synthesiser would have been the size of a washing machine, surely! (although I guess low-cost consumer ICs had come down in price in the 1980s, so maybe it would've only been the size of a microwave).

  • Same price at Ferntree Gulley, Vic store.
Quite a few on the shelf, still marked at $115 but scan at $80 👍

  • Few left at Coburg, Vic

    • Actually that’s a lie, they’re just empty boxes on the shelf

    • Preston has 1 left

  • If anyone sees these in Sydney stores please let me know! I've called CBD and Glebe and they don't have any.
