[VIC] Free Tulips Sunday (1/9) @ Seafarers (Northbank Melbourne)

300

Members of the public will be able to pick up free blooms in the early morning of Sunday until all the flowers are gone. The flowers run from Seafarers Bridge towards Wurundjeri Way on the Flinders Street side of the Yarra. There’s no official start time, but people are invited to come along at any time (don’t worry, St Ali will be there serving coffee for the not-so-early-birds).

More info on Joost's Instagram. Apparently the family's tulip farm is closing down.

“We want people to come and visit the activation, learn about the industry and what they can do to help and take a beautiful tulip home with them,”

So we have to sit through a donation spiel, and it's a singular tulip per person?

You are sooo wrong. Wonderful relaxed event and I can't thank them enough. We are very lucky to get this glimpse of the tulip farm in the city. The tulips look beautiful at the event and in my vase and I am very grateful.

      • can we still go?

        • I would chance it. :) There were stacks and it looks spectactular. Probably people taking their pick will disturb them a bit, but yes I would go again, but that would be greedy. My guess is there were several thousand large trays of a few hundred each.

Tulips don't need many to look good, arranging 3 or 4 looks best to me. Choose immature ones and they'll be great. Noobs will choose the bloomed flowers but great buds are the best choice.

  • Beautiful tulips. They have brown paper bags there for you and let you choose how many and which you want to take home.

  • Can anyone confirm if there are still some left to take and the exact location.

My guess is there were half a million bulbs/flowers this morning so likely it's fine. :)

Location is on the other side of the yarra than Polly Woodside.
