  8 series is the new 7 series on ozbargain. So many deals and the price keeps getting better! I'm gonna hold out for their ULED XD range. Hopefully the price of them make it worth it over OLED.

  How does one actually work out the refresh rate of this? I'm assuming the "200 Smooth Motion Rate" doesn't actually mean anything?

    It has a 200 Smooth Motion Rate – don’t get this confused with the refresh rate. In Australia, TVs have a native 50Hz refresh rate. Most TV content is at 24/30/50/60 frames per second.
    In this case, Hisense uses frame interpolation where the TV inserts additional frames between actual frames, e.g. four frames at 50Hz = a 200 smooth motion rate.
    In this case, the TV processor does a creditable job at reproducing higher frame rates. You can turn this feature on or off and adjust for smoothness or clarity (but not at the same time). I prefer the best clarity.

    I don't know that Hisense making much margin on this stock, so can't see the brand gap being this big long term. QD-OLED will get Samsung back on top when it launches.

    My unfounded assumption is that Hisense redirecting stock to AU as they'd committed to production targets, but need to mitigate risk of Trump US policy on China products. They're using the opportunity to buy up another market and shift their brand reputation. Lucky Goldstar did that 23 years back and now we have LG.

    Hisense is making awesome kit though for the money. After shopback deal, my videopro 65r7 will cost $958.
