Acer Aspire D257 Netbook - Dual Core Atom 1.66GHz - $249 Plus Shipping

131

Just help my friend to price match the Acer Aspire D257 at Office Work using prices from PowerBuys

http://www.powerbuys.com.au/acer-aspire-one-d257-netbook.htm…

OW price is $359. PowerBuys price is $249 + 9.95 (s/h) = $258.95; then OW price match 5% brings total to $246, which is a decent price considering the D257 is a dual core atom.

My friend ended up bought 2 of them. This was at OfficeWork East Perth.

  • you'd be lucky to get it price matched as it doesn't specify which core, D257 carries N455, N550 and N570 models. Plus the battery on powerbuy is 3-cell compared to 6-cell in OW

can you post receipt please? then we could pricematch perth OW :)

    • hmmm, interesting, but my friend already bought 2 from Office Works at that price. My guess we were lucky.

Could you post up scan of recipt then please… so others can pricematch

    • Just check the label on the Acer box. It'll be clear.

  • website says model is LUSF50D005/W

also, is D257 has hdmi port?

    • I think that's only iternal item number to PowerBuys, not actual model number of the netbook.

  • receipt please!

    • Thank you will get one tomorrow.

  • Receipt uploaded, not sure how to change in op

    • There is an Edit button on the top right corner. Use CTRL+F to find it.

  • The Acer Aspire D257 at officeworks is single core, Hyper-Threading. It's not dual core. Not like the last ASUS eee PC deal, which is dual core, four thread.

    • that's the E255 you are talking about, D257 carries N570 - a newer dual core than the asus model

      • You are right, it's 'Acer AOD-257N57DQ Netbook ACAOD257DC' in the invoice, not 'Acer AOD-255E Netbook ACAOD257'.

    • Dude, check your facts before make comment. His receipt is pointed out Acer AOD-257N57DQ model get matched price.

  • Does it have gigabit LAN?

Price is $249 not $246. O/W pricematch is itself not a new deal.

seriously, dude, I logged in just to say this: you deserve the neg

I thought the Mod's keep saying OW 5% price matching isn't a deal, the original deal is. So in that case, FerretallicA would be right. Can a Mod confirm?

        • +1

Price matching is not a deal. Post the deal price, then of course you can advise that you can get it even cheaper in the text by using price match. But leading with the price matched price isnt correct.

          FerretallicA is correct.

  • good luky, the PowerBuyers only 3-cell battery, but the Officeworks is 6-cell battery.

  • looking good! :) will try @ ow tomorrow. Do they usually match a copy of an ow receipt?

BTW does anyone know how Acer D257 compare to this one?
    http://www.harveynorman.com.au/product/1256976797006/asus-ee…

    ofcourse it's a N550 1.5GHz, but seems almost compareable..

  • im still confuse. cannot find the model on acer website. and googling "AOD-257N57DQ" give me limited result.
is this a good one? has hdmi output or not?
i want to get somthing like toshiba nb550

    thanks

  • my understanding is no HDMI ……. due to crappy graphics GMA3150

  • I have got mine from OW alexandria sydney this morning. Thanks for the receipt and they did the same price match for me :D

  • Got mine from Liverpool, Syd. Thanks a bunch, tio.

  • I got mine from Officeworks Adelaide St Brisbane for $233 after showing them the OW receipt uploaded here.Check the box & don't let a anybody try to bamboozle you though-the salesguy gave me the Aod255 with the old 450 chip claiming that 'this is the latest chip' & 'Dual core doesn't give any improvement in performance'.In the confusion,I paid for it,then when I went to have a coffee I examined the box & realised it was NOT the AOD257 with the n570 chip & felt gipped.Went back and pressed for the right one, with a $46 3 yr warranty(normally $89).(Checked the box this time!)Total price=$280.And it's the 6 cell.As for days I tried unsuccessfully to get this netbook from Retravision (Notebook Hunter.com said they had the 3 cell version for the same price & gave this netbook 10 out of 10) I was thrilled I finally got it!Without your receipt and a bit of moxie,I'd not have gotten it for such a fab price from OW.Gonna make a GREAT birthday pressie for the sister who keeps using my Dell Inspiron mini.Heck,I'll be borrowing HERS! Thanks so much,Tio!!

  • Ive tried both OWs in Melbourne CBD and also the one in Launceston - all of them rejected the pricematch due to 3 v 6 cell battery. So I wouldn't travel a long way or make a special trip for this.

    • have you try price match using Retravision as pointed out here

      http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/47866

      • thanks Tio I might give that a go when Im back in Melb. There are no retravisions in Launie with stock…

        • Tio, cheers, got OW Melbourne CBD QV to pricematch Retravision Preston who had it in stock, have photo of the price match and the receipt if required for others (not sure how to upload?!)
