999999999999.9999999% whoever was able to place an order would get it cancelled by catch for pricing error.
you missed a chance of getting a 'sorry we've ran out of stock email'

You have to go back to school to learn probability:

        https://www.wikihow.com/Calculate-Probability

        • haha… damn i got schooled

        • Hes exaggerating to prove a point, please work on context and reading social cues.

          • +1

@KenDiaMoi: Please work on understanding the importance of where the decimal point goes.

      • @spoon… You know your percentage above has no greater effect than 100%. Just saying…

        • He is saying that for every order placed successfully at this price, ten billion orders will get cancelled.
That would represent a few years worth of orders for Amazon.

      • +8

        So you're saying… there's a chance…

        • +1

60% of the time, it works every time

          • +3

@spoonmugen: Oh people can come up with statistics to prove anything Kent, forty per cent of all people know that.

      • How can the chance be over 100%?

  • +15

I'm glad most people here are being realistic about their purchases, unlike those entitled idiots on A Current Affair…

    • Wait for when people receive the cancellation emails and then think they are entitled to a $20 gift voucher.

      • +3

Waiting for the one person who calls to ask if it's a price error first so we can all flame them.

  • +1

Gone from ridiculously under priced to massively overpriced

  • anyone's order has processed successful ?

    • Mine is saying (cancellation) "In progress"

      • Mine is just sitting as "purchased" with an order number - No cancellation pending status yet.
My order was put through over 3 hours ago (about 10 or so mins after the post went up). Watch this space I guess.

  • CAn anyone post more portable Pc deals? thanks

    • Follow Price Hipster https://pricehipster.com/

      • thx

      • That's only for Australian stores though. I'd expect mini PCs to be cheaper internationally.

        • You mind me ask which site do you use to buy mini PC?

  • Link no longer goes to the product, takes it back to homepage.

    Op, purchased and shipped.

    • +10

I'm a little dubious of that claim. Got a screenshot?

    • +1

      my order has been cancelled

  • My order has been cancelled. No email as of yet, but showing under my account’s order history.

  • Order cancelled, refunded.

  • Email from PayPal. Refunded.

  • Refunded :-(

  • refunded - game over

See you all at the next price error folks!

    Hi all,

My name is Phil Kaseman from PS Home and Living. We are a seller on Catch Market Place. There has been a mix up with the EAN / Barcodes and I'm not techy, so excuse me if I don't explain this fully correctly. We don't even sell the ASUS products. The SKU on our end is for a Retro phone however somehow all these orders have come through to us.

We are processing the refunds as quickly as possible. If you would like a GPO746 Retro phone, we can send this:) Otherwise please sit tight and we'll process your refund shortly.

    Regards

    Phil

    • +1

how many did you 'sell' phil ?

    • +4

Tell us more about this retro phone ;)

    • +8

Phil, I'm sorry you got slammed by this. I got my refund. Thank-you. It's good of you to come here and explain, especially when it's not your fault. Hopefully you get some business out of this.

  • +7

We sold about 200 of a product we have never seen, never heard of before we picked it up…wasting a lot of time processing the refunds..Here are the phones we sell…We believe a great bargain:) As you'll see from our website, we sell clocks, jewellery boxes and a couple of retro phones…certainly no computers!

    https://www.pshomeandliving.com.au/?rf=kw&kw=746

    • +1

Only 200 out of the ~10k clicks .. thought it might go nuts .. but bummer about the timewasting .. hope you sell some phones !

      • I suspect 10k clicks were just people being hopeful it'd reappear!

    • +1

Login or register to see the price? I'm not a big for that. Good luck.

    • +3

Seriously man, it's not his fault.

  • +23

tentsubore Am I pleased? Not really. We've just spent hours processing cancellations for a product we have never heard of or sold…Would have much preferred this didn't happen…No one wins here. Not us, not the people who knew this was a mistake of some sort but still chanced their luck.

Catch Tech team are looking into how this happened however I can assure you it was completely innocent with no malicious intent…

    • -8

Why the bold? Shesh. No one wins? For a few hours of you guys processing cancellations you gained a lot more exposure. I clicked on your Catch's website for the first time in years!

      • Yeah but did you buy anything? :P

      • +1

Bold was an accident. No idea ow I did this…

hahaha - re: exposure. Not really the exposure I'm after but thanks:)

        • The hashtag causes bold

    • +2

Sure, I agree no winners. I was being mostly facetious and threw my hat in the ring as a game of chance with little to lose but I'm generally aware of the amount of admin that goes into a mistake like this. Less sympathy for larger corporates like HP.

The comment was more addressed to catch and their poorly worded email which I still stand by and would imagine you would stand by too.

    • +1

FYI, Catch was (and still is, even though it's unavailable) promoting the item in their ads: https://imgur.com/a/rFqQ269

Might want get their tech team to pull the pin on those too.

  • +9

The bold was an accident…NO idea how I even did this.

Everyone here seems really reasonable however I am getting some angry people through the catch messages threatening to take me to ACCC….good luck them and a big thanks to everyone here for being so cool about the mistake.

    Cheers,

    Phil

    • You associated with Catch? Why doesnt your User ID show as Store or Associated?

      • +10

We are a catch marketplace seller. We are as much associated with Catch as we are with eBay. We pay them a monthly fee to list on their site and a commission on sales. No association really…I don't think… - Exactly the same as an eBay seller. Also, I never use OzBargain however when I worked out what was going on, I rightly assumed the was an OzBargain post. I have merely logged in with Facebook. I only came on here to explain the situation. If I have violated any OzBargain rules, I'll gladly sign out from this forum

        • free SEO from front page ozbargain

        • You've posted deals here in the past…

          • +3

@ssquid: 1 or 2 deals quite some time ago…however got smashed by trolls so haven't been on since. I am not an active user.

PS. Is there any point to these questions?

I merely came on today to justify the situation…

As I said, if I've done something wrong, broken any rules or offended anything, I'll log off and stop responding.

            • +4

@Phillk: i dont speak for everyone here but -u've done no wrong - and you've explained your part.
which is less than what catch has done.

seems they had issues aligning pricing to the sku/product code

    • +5

I am getting some angry people through the catch messages threatening to take me to ACCC….good luck them

Don't worry about them. Unfortunately there are some real trashy people here who think they're entitled to the world. You have no legal obligation to honour anything and we really appreciate the time you've taken to come here and clear everything up!

      • ^ one of them downvoted me too. Disappointing to see that I was right.

        • +1

Lol, stop telling trash people that they are entitled and you won't get negged. Then again, maybe it's entitled people that don't like being called trashy…

          • @mapax: Sometimes the truth hurts ;)

  • Actual item as linked above is the Bat Phone (available in red). Also similar to Trump's hotline to his Twitter transcriber…

  • Those retro phones are rather cool… Memories

    Dear valued customer,

We’re writing to regretfully inform you that we have had to cancel your recent Catch marketplace order. A technical glitch on our website has caused the item in your order (Asus Mini PC UN68U) to be listed at the incorrect price. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused.

A full refund has been arranged back to the original payment method. Please allow 3 business days for the amount to appear on your statement.

You will also find $10 credit in your Catch account to use towards your next order at Catch.com.au

We sincerely apologise and hope you enjoy your next Catch with us.

EDIT: Just checked, credit valid for 1 year.

  • $20 voucher, nice!

  • I ordered one yesterday, but it smells of that 1c Razor phone I order a few months ago :(
