    "Lenovo Yoga 530 -114" HD Touch/i5-8250U/8GB/256GB NVMe $559.20"

This is pick-of-the-bunch with it's generous screen

    • -3

      Lenovo Yoga 520 – 14” FHD Touch/ i5-8250U/8GB/128GB NVMe SSD
Bigger screen, same price. Same seller

      • +19

        Whoosh

      • can the ram and ssd be upgraded?

    • +5

Yeah but 114" is a bit too big for me.

      • +3

        That's what she said?

      • Its good for a loungeroom but a little impractical as a laptop screen.

    • Not bad, but we regularly see 14' screens (or bigger) listed on OzB, which is 168".

  • which one has projector?

  • some only android 5

  • hmmmm….. have been on the lookout for a monitor or two for productivity work. not sure if these 23.8" ones are a huge bargain though..?? VA panel… and not the biggest things either.

    • not amazing deal least its new/unused only open box, sells for $197 at OW, previous 27in refurb deal was better but out of stock

      • yep i am sad i missed out on that 27" refurb deal!! grays if you are reading this another one would be good ;)

    • Nothing wrong with VA. good middle ground between TN and IPS.

  • +7

bought from grays refurbed lenovo android tablet. It had some old couples photos of their trip to Italy…

you never know what you will get.

    mixo

    • +2

the what? So where do they get these refurbs from. Refurbs should be wiped and be made "like new". This just sounds like returned devices to repair store or something..

      • +3

Yeah the fact that they're selling them with their own warranty is a clue that they're not from Lenovo.

    • +1

Did you tell Grays to "Va' fa' un culo!"?

      lolz

    • Over the years I've learned to stay away from Grays "refurb" products, of the four things I've bought three had issues that if they were listed, I wouldn't have bought them even at the lower price.

      • It is just like IKEA products. I made a promise that I shall never buy from them again and (what happen) I return to them again and again. Somebody stop me. Is this the weakness of an ozbargainer? Buy now think later.

    • Nice! I'd pay extra for that. Think of all the money you don't need to spend on flights and hotels in Italy.

      • +1

Well we got to enjoy the previous owner photos.Entertainment for the whole family.
        Italy was nice.

The model we got had a full HD screen so the pictures really popped!

        mixo

p.s this tablet is now dead as my daughter sat on this and cracked the screen. If you are keeping count this is the 3rd one she has done it too..Yes she still my favorite and only daughter.

        • duct tape and WD-40 and she'll be alright

          • @dukeGR4:

duct tape and WD-40 and she'll be alright

She'll soon learn not to sit on tablets with those methods.

        • I have 2 daughters and I told them one at a time that she is my favourite daughter separately. Just wait for the consequence later. This should be fun.

  • +3

The 10" tab has now more than doubled in price. Maybe they realised they made a mistake?

    • Yep, that tablet was a bargain at that price. I have the 8" version with 2GB ram. Works well for YouTube and media consumption especially with it's nice screen ( the 10" has same amount of pixels but equally bright colourful IPS screen ) and superb front stereo speakers better than most laptops. Also the longest battery life for any tablet and that Yoga/stand design.

Performance is pretty weak ( even with 2GB ram ) and stuck on Android 6, but still like using it with the stand and awesome sound foe YouTube.

    • They actually sold twelve yesterday and Thursday, and two today on the new listing until they stopped this listing, all at same price lol

    • +1

dont think price is a mistake, its an issue with the add, last 2 days it keeps appearing & disapearing, its still available on grays website for $129 + 10 shipping

    • +3

You think? I saw that a couple of days ago, but only 1GB, low-res, old android version - did not think it worth posting.

      • Can't get anything similar though for anywhere this price. Still usable for simple stuff, one task at a time lol.

        • +1

Back in stock again link in post

        • +1

Fair enough, just don't try to run Chrome on it :)
          Fine for videos, games.

Alternatives would include Chinese brand, 2nd hand, or a prepaid large-screen phone.

      • From what I've read, there is an update for the os? Android 5 is so old…

      • SD212 processor too - low end from 2015. Don't think it's a deal even if they were new IMO.

    • +2

1gb of RAM is a painful experience on Android, apps will constantly close every time you switch between screens and makes it very frustrating experience to have to wait for things to constantly load back up. I'd certainly not buy any tablet or phone with 1GB ram in 2019.

    • 1) :'(
      2) :) because only 1 GB

      Rollercoaster of emotions

  • Can the Yoga's be upgraded? Memory, SSD, HDD?

    • +1

Ram on Yoga 720 920 is soldered, so it's hard to upgrade, nvme ssd can be upgraded (there is no 2.5 inch hdd/sdd slot).

      • +3

920's SSD is on the reverse side of the motherboard, you will need to undo about 10 different mini connectors and cable. Not too difficult but would not recommend for people not used to tinkering.

        • There are videos online that show you how to do it. Pretty easy. Some tricks you learn as you progress. Like, don't reassemble with battery upside down. Expensive mistake. :(

  • What does the number next to each item mean? 10+, 2, 4, etc

    • +1

How many in Stock when I posted the deal

  • Lenovo Yoga Tab 3 16GB 10-inch Tablet/APQ8009/1GB LPDDR3/16GB eMMC —-> This listing was ended by the seller because there was an error in the listing.

    • Yeah keeps doing the same thing for days now

  • Something light, fast enough for basic laptop tasks (multiple internet tabs, Netflix, etc) on the go and decent battery, the Yoga 530 or I can wait for something similarly spec'd and cheaper?

    • +1

      530 is overkill!! 8GB, i5 SSD.

      You are describing this: ($239)

      https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Lenovo-Ideapad-D330-10-Silver-10…

Lighter, better battery life, and fast enough for what you describe.
If you don't need tablet/touchscreen, there are other options. (it has detachable keyboard)

With only 32GB eMMC, I'd suggest a clean install of Windows 10 from latest ISO, and you'll have plenty of free space.

      • Thanks heaps. It's for a family member that does air tickets, this should be good :)

      • +1

Before I pull the trigger on this, are the other options cheaper, or have other benefits over this?

Edit: I see this is identical minus touch & detachable screen?

E2: pulled the trigger on the one I linked, slightly bigger screen, much cheaper and no need for the extra goodies. Thanks Manic.

        • Screen does not specify IPS, but it's probably fine.

remember that windows 10 major upgrades in 32Gb can be a pain, in which case you wipe it and do a clean install.

      • With only 32GB eMMC, I'd suggest a clean install of Windows 10 from latest ISO, and you'll have plenty of free space.

Err, no you won't. 32GB is horrible. You will constantly get messages popping up saying "Windows Couldn't Update" and to scan with Storage Sense. You won't have enough room to store any pictures or movies on your computer. The eMMC is pretty slow in most of these cheap laptops too.

With the new Windows 10 builds they should reserve 7GB for future updates so you will have your 12GB taken from your Windows 10 install + 7GB reserved means 19GB of your 29.8 GB formatted capacity is already used up. Install Office which is another 2.3GB and then you are left with 8.5GB usable space for your system.

        • +1

I have a similar windows tablet, and have set them up for a couple of others with no trouble.
Though I did end up sacrificing the Linux partition :-)

          eMMC is pretty slow

Kids today are so spoiled. It is still a lot faster than a hard drive.

          • +1

@bargaino: I just did a fresh install of Windows 10 1903 on a laptop, the used space is 21.1GB and then 2.3GB for Office 2019 brings to 23.4GB/29.8 GB used if you had a 32GB laptop.

Having 6.4gb of user accessible space is a bit of a joke when you start accounting for any temp files / downloaded updates / any personal files on the machine.

I know they often have another 2GB reserved for a factory reset partition too which you can delete in a partition manager then extend the OS to reclaim that. They should make those ultra cheap machines 64GB minimum.

            • @Agret:

Having 6.4gb of user accessible space

First world problems!! It all depends upon your usage case.
Let me tell you about trying to update Windows 10 on a 2GB/16GB tablet. I returned it to the shop with some strong words :-)
The 32GB Lenovo did present problems, until I did a clean install.

Obviously 32GB is not going to let you install a bunch of games, but my kid is doing fine with such a system at high school, as almost everything they do is online in the web browser.

It does have an SD slot, which can be used for media files.

  • Any of those Lenovo's have a Thunderbolt 3 port? Can't seem to confirm it any of their individual item description listings on ebay…

  • +1

    1280x800 no thanks

  • +1

Just look at the list of purchasers for Lenovo S730. The 1st person paid AU $1,349.00 for a refurbished laptop. If my memory serves me right, JB HI-Fi sells this unit at $1699 and has been discounted to $1499 for a brand new unit. I feel for the person. Ouch! Feel really good to be an ozbargainer.

    • I see this all the time.

People have no idea what they are buying.

If its not less than half price of original price I aint touching it.

And when I say price I mean with all those silly charges that Grays adds on to the final bid.

      • +1

It is easy said than done. Somehow the mind and hand do not coordinate when comes bargain fever.

  • Just received my s730 and doesn't appear to be any major scratches etc

Tried to get the touchscreen working and after some googling doesn't appear as though this model supports it despite the listing saying it does. Does anyone know anything further?

    • looks like its a mistake in the description, contact them for a refund or possible discount will be offered

      • Grays are notorious for misrepresenting their listings, that and it's OOS suggests you should maybe remove the s730 from the heading.

        • so many differant models mistakes happen, hardly helps them if they have to repay for to return & refund it, just a headache for both sides

          • +1

@RogueWolf: Yeah agree, there are so many different variants of each model. Haven't heard back from them yet but as you said it's painful for both sides

            • @oompa: Find it quicker to call grays, emails they take to long to get back

            • @oompa: Lemme know how you go, in the same boat. Battery life seems weaker than expected for non-touch version! Could live without touch but should get a discount…

    • Same here, seems like a wrong description. Let us know how you go with contacting grays.
I also noticed 2 bright pixels, one on the top mid, one on the edge of top left. Do your guys also noticed any?

      • Not looking good.. spoke to Grays and they said they had just recieved updated details that this model isn't a touchscreen and asked if there was anything else they could help with. After some words they've referred it to their Ebay team who can take 2-3 business days to respond

I was also concerned about the battery life but it appears as though the longer I use it the better the (estimation) gets. Might be worth perservering.

Screen is ok with no dead pixels. Touchscreen was on my list of must haves so a bit of a deal breaker

        • oh that doesn't sound good.
The battery seems fine on mine. It looks like a new battery with only 1 cycle (after I fully charged it), also the full charged capacity is exceeding the designed capacity. You can check yours by opening the command prompt as administrator and then run "powercfg /batteryreport". This will give you a html battery report.
Looks like bad luck to me for the bright pixels, the locations are not that bad so most of the time I do not notice them.

          • @lixin420: Interesting thing on the battery is that when I first installed the battery bar app it reported battery wear as over 30%!! Then after a couple reboots due to lenovo and window updates I checked again and it said battery wear now at 0.x% essentially indicating it's a new battery? Not sure what to make of this whether it's an old battery refurbished or actually a new battery as it seems to be reporting now… What are the rest of you getting on the battery wear reading? From past experience it's the best indicator whereby high wear % = used battery, less hrs of usage than we should be getting. I'm getting around 3.5hrs max, chrome multiple tabs and email desktop outlook with monitor off as it's plugged into a screen. Expected over 4hrs, what are you guys getting?

            • @reece8: Mine seems ok. I have not been using it heavily, but I got about 40mins youtube from a 10% battery drop.

              • @lixin420: So what's the overall runtime ok your battery looking like after a week of your standard usage? Over or under the 3.5hr mark?

                • @reece8: overall runtime ok. I am definitely getting more than 3.5hr from one full charge. But strange thing is that I am getting ~4% drop overnight with the laptop switched off (not sleep). I am a bit concerned about this.

                  • @lixin420: Hmm I can't get more than 3.5hrs estimated total runtime. Actually is just under 3.5hrs. Nothing but browsing and email. Your 4% battery drop overnight could be due to cold battery start conditions? Did you leave it at 100% unplugged at night?

        • See whether they're willing to offer a discount or a full refund and let us know pls!

    • I have raised this issue to Graysonline via eBay and this is the reply so far.

"Thank you for getting back to me with the SKU number.

I've just made a research on the Lenovo website about this product model number and the website doesn't state that this comes with the touchscreen.

I have lodged an investigation to confirm this issue.

I will notify you immediately in the next business days as soon as I have an update.

My sincere apologies for the inconvenience caused.

      Kind Regards,
      Lita
      Grays Online"

So far the customer service is good. Still waiting for the outcome. Will keep you "girls" posted.

      • Follow up the false advertising on Lenovo S730. Grays online gave me 2 options. Either accept a partial refund with the accepted goods or full refund by returning the goods. I have taken up the option 1 and here is the reply.

"Please be advised that I've processed your refund for $89, and you should expect to see the amount re-appear in your registered payment method within 2-3 business days."

The entire process was fast and with great courtesy.

You might get better luck than I am but I am happy with the entire process.

        • Which option did ya decide to go with? Is $89 the value of a touchscreen?

          • @reece8: I chose the refund of $89. My objective is to get a very light, thin, portable in comfort and budget laptop rather a fancy touchscreen. It is handy but not an essential accessory.

  • got mine s730 but touchpad is faulty, no response from this seller for two days

  • got my yoga520, touch screen is not working.
Sent a eBay message last night, wait for updates.
Just noticed , the refurbishment has been done by Grays online not lenovo.

    • Was a mistake in the add, it’s not a touch screen model, ask for refund or discount to keep it

      • OMFG, i bought that for the touch screen ………
Its clearly a repair model with few scratches, nothing like the Lenovo refurbishment laptop condition i bought before.

        • Bugger that's not good. My s730 unit came in perfect condition physically. Just no touch and slightly questionable battery life. Plus I'm now after installing latest drivers trying to confirm if it's actually a Thunderbolt 3 port cause windows is showing only 20gbps speed on a Thunderbolt 3 certified cable!

          • @reece8: They finally recived my returned unit, and promised to give me a full refund.

I had to contact my ebay seller for cnacelling my cover and screen protector now, hope its not that late……

            • @[Deactivated]: That's a bummer you had already bought accessories for the laptop. Did they process the refund up front?

              • @reece8: the seller has not response yet…..
but just sth less than 20bucks
