The $349 Annual fee kills it in my opinion. the 30k points is only worth about $200 in vouchers.

You realise that you are not paying the fee for the 30,000 points.

The fee is mainly for the following

      • You can get free flight with platinum edge for $149

        • PLatinum edge flights are quite restricted, especially from smaller towns and cities. Haven't seen the available destinations for this card though.

      • +1

can't afford business class even at 2-for-1 so that part of the deal is no good

      • if you plan travel with business class, this card may be save u a lot of money as you know that business class cost your 3-5x normal fare. sydney to perth return cost you around A$1k, so if you plan travel with them, may be this card is suitable for you.

      • Granted that some may benefit from the deal but honestly, AMEX have these types of promotions on rotation constantly. yeah still a deal I suppose. meh

    • and the free flight and lounge tickets??

      beaten by 27 seconds….

  • i am still happy with my nab velocity platinum that waive my annual fee in the last 4 years. :)

anyone know why this nab velocity platinum doesn't listed in their website?

    • i think it was just a way for the gold card holders to feel "special"
i still havent worked out how it is different from my old gold card…
(have also had it for free for 4 years)

      • you got Interstate Flight Inconvenience Insurance, where gold doesn't have, just compare those card insurance policy

You're covered if, during an interstate flight, your luggage is lost or delayed or if you have to cancel or amend an interstate flight due to serious illness.

    • How does it look like?

    • how do you manage to get the annual fees waived?

      • +1

2 weeks before expired, i called them to get the payout figure, then they transfer my call to customer retention unit, asked me if i am happy with the card, said yes, why you want to close your account - not happy with annual fee, do you have other credit card with other bank - no. if i waive the annual fee for another year, would you be happy to keep your current card? - yes.

        simple

        • I know it is simple, but I don't like to beg and uncertainty. Did one with BP Visa card, even refunded me for 2 years, tried again second year, the Indian people more than happy to cut my card!

        • i think, it is depend on how much do u spend as well. if you spend less than 10k/year, most likely they can't give you for free. it happens to me with my westpac altitude

        • This has never worked with me. I have tried a number of times to no avail, specially with CBK. My current spend on CC is 25K+ a year but have to pay annual fees.

          alas.

        • what is cbk?

  • I think to pay $349 is a little steep. For those looking for a similar card, the AMEX platinum edge is $149 / yr http://perthhacks.blogspot.com/2010/10/amex-platinum-edge-cr… but you don't get two free entries into the lounge and no buy 1 get 1 free for business. To each his own I guess.

  • I remember 1 million velocity points could be traded for a car. I'm not sure if they offer that reward anymore.

    • 1 million points value around aud 15k, yeah if u redeem cash, u can buy car
