  • Particularly good deal on the Mini, going for 23% off.

  • +1

    Important to note:

Boxes purchased on this site can be added to existing Fetch retail accounts as “Multiroom” devices. These boxes cannot be combined on accounts with boxes from broadband or phone providers.

    • Good point and thanks for specifying!!

      • No worries. They should really make it more clear.

    • Have they still got the 3 device limitation though?

  • so i have one of these unused at home - i didnt realise they can do all these things. will have to experiment!

  • Is this a good alternative to Apple TV for a bedroom TV?

I assume I don’t need a fetch subscription to get any of the media player functionality to work?

    • +1

No subscription is needed. However you will need to register (and pay a once-off fee of $1) with Fetch before the box will work.

I got my Fetch box free and its way too slow for todays standards. I am gobsmacked thinking anyone would pay 240 for it christ!

    • Which generation?

      • I have the mighty, the one in the pic…Not the mini…

    • +2

I think yours might be old or broken. I can't think of any part of it that's slow.

      • Unless there is variants in the new model then I have the latest. I got it like 4 years ago.

Look dont get me wrong, the quality of the signal, netflix 4k is great. But its really slow to navigate. I hate it because of this simple fact. My raspberry pi3 with kodi is faster.

Mighty and Mini were not available 4 years ago.

  • What are some good alternatives to this?

    • +1

      Nothing at this price.

  • +1

I have the mighty at home - for the most part it is great; It has apps for Netflix and Stan, along with the $6 add-on channel packs.

The channel packs are actually pretty good value …

The vibe one for example includes ESPN, ESPN2, Comedy Central, MTV. The ESPN channels broadcast various NBA games over the season.

One thing it doesn't have which would have been nice is the Kayo app.

  • I bought the Fetch Mighty refurbished from eBay almost a year ago and when it arrived I could have sworn that it was brand new, the packaging looked brand new, the box, no scratches or marks on anything, hell it even smelled brand new. Needless to say I was really happy with the purchase. The only reason I bought it was that Optus started charging me $15 P.M to rent so I returned the box to Optus. When I bought this device they started charging me $15 P.M again, I ended up talking to a supervisor about it who eventually refunded me. Then it happened again they started charging me, the call centre at Optus could not comprehend that I had a Fetch box but not paying Optus, they said as I was using their service I needed to pay, even though I did not activate it through Optus nor did I subscribe to any Optus channels/packages. This time I had to talk to 2 different supervisors until one eventually understood that Fetch TV can operate and be activated outside of the Optus network!! I have a feeling this will happen again. Anyhow if you're with Optus, beware, they might still try to charge you for buying a Fetch TV independent of Optus.

    • Being an Optus customer inevitably leads to frustration. They're a basket case.

  • Thanks OP. Purchased the 'mini' for $94 with code BLUE5. I don't need the 'mighty' box because the only limited 4k content is on netflix and stan and I already get 4k for those on my TV. The 'mighty' box would not contribute to that.

    • BLUE5 doesn’t work for me…
