Claim 100% Cashback on a Purchase of Listerine Total Care 500ml Mouthwash As EFTPOS Gift Card @ Listerine

2250

Noticed the tag on Listerine Total Care 500ml (the purple one) while at Coles. Was going to purchase but luckily I read the tag first and realised the promo doesn't start until Thursday. Cashback will be in the form of a gift card. Couldn't find any info on the Listerine website so here are the T & C's as per tag on bottle:

  1. Purchase Listerine Total Care 500ml from any participating retailer (Qualifying Purchase) and complete the claim form online: www.listerine.com.au/cashback.
    Claimants must retain original receipt
  2. Each valid claim received before 11.59pm (AEST) on 30/09/2019 will receive a refund of the purchase price
(as evidenced by receipt, less any shipping cost), delivered to you in the form of a gift card.
  3. Only one claim per claimant, per household (based on residential address) during promotion period, regardless of how many qualifying products purchased.

According to Johnson & Johnson Consumer Care Centre, the acceptance message displayed on the browser (Thank you! We have received your submission) is confirmation that the claim form was accepted. No additional confirmation e-mail will be sent.

Editor's Note: Use Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, or Apple Safari to submit your cashback claim, otherwise you will receive these contradictory messages "Browser not supported. Please try again…" and "Thank you! We have received your submission". The claim form does not reject incompatible browsers until after you have submitted your claim. (Update: It now displays an incompatibility message after I complained.)

Hopefully not hosted by the guys that hosted the Ben and Jerry's promo

    • +5

      What happened to that promo?

      • +3

Several participants did not get their cards and were requested to send another picture of their receipts but some had thrown them out.

        • I was asked to send a picture of the receipt but they didn't review them or answer my "Q&A" (one question) so I was considered invalid for the refund/gift card.

          • +1

@Sneekypeen86: I wonder if they realise that the 'promo' caused a distaste for B&J rather than a positive view.

            • @NobalaKoba: Yeah… I never received the gift card. And tonight I threw away the 'still almost full' Ben n Jerry pint from my fridge. Worst $9 I ever spent.

        • Happened to me with the Goat Lager one too

    • Relevant meme amirite guys!?

OP did the same thing as me when I was going to by it but only realised it started on the 1st
    LOL

Woolworths 40% off Listerine from Wednesday onwards..

    • +9

Does it matter, if it's 100% cashback?

    • +21

receive a refund of the purchase price (as evidenced by receipt, less any shipping costs)

You minimise possible loss if the cashback doesn't go through, but no profit possible with this promo.

      • +1

        cough ben cough jerry cough

      • Profit could be from reselling…

        • +6

If you wanna profit then just return it would be much easier and also gets u a bigger profit.

      • +2

You minimise possible loss if the cashback doesn't go through, but no profit possible with this promo.

There's no chance of loss, you have the receipt and a copy of it, when you take a photo. No one at woolworths/coles would bat an eye at a return.

        • U didn’t claim ben & jerry and read the threads, huh?

          • @hanofee: Only partly, what happened to people trying to refund their purchases?

            • @salmon123: You can't refund once you've opened it

              • @Scope: You could try, but its just as easy not to open it, no?

                • @salmon123: If you don't open it, you wouldn't be able to see the code

                  • @Scope: What code? The last 4 digits of the product barcode? That is printed on the back and clearly visible.

                    • @alvian: You don't need a unique code. Just a picture of your receipt as proof of purchase. My bad

              • -1

@Scope: You could easily under consumer law… The reasonable consumer would be misled by the misleading statement of try for free.

Doesn't matter if it's opened then - if it says try for free and it's not free, you have a very strong claim.

Their only possible defense is to show the reasonable consumer would know the statement's exaggerated. I don't see any indication the statement is exaggerated - it clearly says "try me for free". Even the small text only clarifies you need to redeem the value back online.

Note this obviously only applies if you're holding up your end - if you receive the cashback you have no real claim to return (except for other standard consumer rights which still apply).

                • @[Deactivated]: But the "Try for free" is advertised by Listerine themselves and not Coles. Wouldn't you have to take it up with Listerine?

                  • -1

@Scope: No, seller is legally responsible for claims made on packaging / etc.

In fact, it extends to the point the manufacturer has NO responsibility (beyond negligence) unless contractually specified (ie warranty agreements, private agreements with seller, etc).

Even then, it's still illegal for a seller to refuse a repair or return due to the manufacturer offering equal warranty or remedy. They're free to accept the return and forward it on themselves, but they can't refuse it on that basis.

Not sure how the case would go down had they advertised it externally (their own website / TV / etc) with no mention of seller - gets into a new area legally then… But as stands, seller is 100% responsible as it's very clearly on the packaging in their stores.

Cashback is based on purchase price on receipt so buying it on special doesn't matter.

    • Think Alvian basically smarter than the average bear lol :)

Seems to be some form of eftpos gift card delivered to your address:

All Gift Cards will be sent to the address provided on the claim form (Australian addresses only) within sixty (60) days from the date of receipt by the Promoter of a valid claim. Once the EFTPOS Gift Cards has left the Promoter’s/supplier’s premises, the Promoter and its agencies and companies associated with the promotion will not be responsible for any delay in delivery, loss or damage to the Gift Cards. Use of Gift Cards are subject to their terms and conditions which can be found at https://rewardscometrue.com.au/information/card-activation-t…

Purchase Listerine Total Care 500ml from any participating retailer (Qualifying Purchase) and compete the claim form online: www.listerine.com.au/cashback.

Compete or Complete? Wouldn't bother with the former.

    • +2

      Oops, fixed.

  • +7

Can't see Listerine now without thinking of the episode of Adam Ruins Everything. Listerine was originally marketed as a surgical antiseptic, floor cleaner and also a "cure" for Gonorrhoea.

    • ouch. link?

      • +1

        https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Listerine

There are claims that they "invented" the term halitosis, which is not quite right. But they did take an almost unknown condition and make everyone paranoid that they have it though marketing. You can google pics of some of their original advertising.

And its still working apparently :P
I doubt many dentists would actually reccomend mouthwash unless you have some pretty serious gum problems (Dentists please correct me if i'm wrong).

        • yikes

Green Tea is a more effective and safer mouthwash.

    • +2

You should try some hydrochloric acid, just regurgitate from stomach, rinse, repeat.

  • Awh man just purchased a jug last week

  • +3

Effect of Green Tea Mouthwash on Oral Malodor - In conclusion, green tea mouthwash could significantly reduce VSC level in gingivitis subjects after rinsing for 4 weeks.

Even chlorhexidine, which is considered one of the best anti-plaque agents (and is used in products like Savacol), did not perform as well as green tea. Btw, chlorhexidine also causes genetic damage.

    Stay well, ozbargainers.

  • +3

receive a refund of the purchase price (as evidenced by receipt, less any shipping costs)

    Hmmm

  • +2

What kind of question is this on the claim form?

What is your deal mouthwash benefit?

  • As mentioned above the 500ml Listerine is on sale at Woolies for $5.50.

  • Did anyone receive an email confirmation after completing the form?

    • Nope..didnt get email…submitted 5 hours ago

    • +3

Checked with J&J Consumer Care Centre: no confirmation email will be sent.

  • lost faith in cashbacks since the Ben&Jerry's deal

  • Thanks OP

  • +1

Local woolies had none and Coles only had the purple ones marked

    • I'm pretty sure it's only the purple ones that have the cashback. The promo isn't restricted to Coles or Woolies, you should be able to buy it from pretty much anywhere, as long as the bottle has the promo tag on it

  • Is it ONLY the purple ones ???

    • +3

Yep. Only for the 500ml Listerine Total Care, which are the purple ones.

  • +2

Still nothing despite submission over a week ago

  • +1

Mix some salt in water and rinse. It's way more effective and strengthens gums.

  • Anyone got this yet?

  • +1

Nope haven’t received it yet very slow

  • +2

As quoted above from the T&C: "All Gift Cards will be sent to the address provided on the claim form (Australian addresses only) within sixty (60) days from the date of receipt by the Promoter of a valid claim."

    60 days = 2 months

The promo ran in August. Expect GCs in October.

  • This will sound repetitive but: Got my gift card today!!

    Envelope says mailed 05.09.19 08h05
Envelope is from Johnson & Johnson Pacific … J&J … the baby things company … interesting.

  • Received my EFTPOS card today

  • +1

I have a massive respect for Listerine for conducting this offer very smoothly and simply.

Ben and Jerry wish you can learn

  • Thank you so much OP, received my card, forgot what I paid for the Listerine but easy to access the balance with my details

  • +1

Anyone else still waiting to receive theirs?

    • +1

      Me, the OP :/

      • Fingers crossed it gets sorted soon. Thanks op.

    • Still waiting on mine..

      • Got Mine on Friday.

  • For those that haven't received there gift cards yet, it might be worth giving them a call to make sure everything is ok.
I hadn't received mine yet, I called them and they stated that there was something wrong with the barcode number provided (whether I typed it in wrong I don't know). I wasn't aware of that prior to calling them.

They did tell me that it can take up to 60 days for the cards to arrive (Mine was just outside of the 60 days)

    • Yeah just contacted them over email. Turns out I also submitted an 'incorrect barcode' which is complete BS. Sent them the photo of the receipt again and asked to process claim.

Nice of them to inform us that they think the barcode is wrong.

  • Still didn't receive my EFTPOS card so I emailed them, they replied that "your submission was deemed invalid due to bar code number encoded or product purchased was not part of the promotion". But I definitely bought the right product (Listerine Total Care 500ml Mouthwash).

    Such crap

    • They have deemed that the “total care” and “total care - sensitive” and “total care - zero alcohol” are different. There is only one product that the promo relates to.(not the whole total care 500ml range). I’m in the same boat. I think they are wrong.

      • Even though the tvs and cs say “purchase a Total Care 500ml product”

        • It sucks but only the Total Care bottles (and not the Total Care Sensitive or Zero Alcohol) had the cash back tag on them

          • @Scope: The ts and cs don’t say anything about “promotion bottles” only. My local did not have any bottle with promo tags and so I checked the terms on the website.
