      What do you mean?

That post you linked lists (and links to) just one item - an ASUS modem.

There are 306 products in this deal.

And there is no where that link or the page it displays is linked to this offer.

You can't even find a link to this offer anywhere - not from the deal link, nor from the page itself.

The poster does mention a "20% off networking" at Harvey Norman at the bottom of the deal description, but he doesn't link to the 20% off computer and tech page at Harvey Norman I posted here, anywhere.

Ps. Thanks for trying to keep Ozbargain tidy, but in this case, I think you're mistaken.

The AX92 mesh equivalent is probably the better buy with $100 Cashback.

Though personally I'd steer away from Asus, had nothing but problems unfortunately.

    • Okay… this is advice is confusing.

      • No it's not. Each to their own. Asus networking gear is great when working, it's incredibly bad when it's not.

I've had wifi connections just completely drop off. Their $400 plus modem syncs significantly slower than a $10 Telstra equivalent…

Regardless the mesh system is better value than a single router.

      • It's a pity, because the ASUS RT-AC68U and RT-AC66U were almost universally accepted as some of the best in the industry.

They still use Broadcom chipsets, except for abgn+ac+ax WiFi they use Skyworks chipsets, maybe these are underperforming?

Btw. I just noticed that I could install a VPN directly on this router, using the ASUSWRT-Merlin firmware https://wikidevi.com/wiki/ASUS_RT-AX88U

Some of the extra features in this firmware looks interesting too https://www.asuswrt-merlin.net/features

Ps. You may be right about the other modem the AX-92 being a better deal, it's a 'step up' in the series, as far as numbering goes at least.

I stopped playing around with modems after I switched to Telstra Cable and they sent me their Gen 2 router with 4G backup - it basically does what I need, until NBN gets activated here.

So I'm not up to date with the latest modems/routers.

        • Bigger discount, bigger rebate, mesh, I definitely would go that of the two.

AX is still too early to adopt though.

I agree on the earlier ones, the 88 seems to be a hit or miss model. The DSL one synced 15% slower with FTTN for me.

          • @scuderiarmani: Oh ok, thanks. I'll update the post then.

          • @scuderiarmani: Done.

Ps. I was actually trying to find another modem on purpose, because someone else has created a whole post for the mesh, and I didn't want to interfere with his post by listing the exact same item in my post.

            • @BooYa: If on FTTN the Telstra TG799VAC is the best you can get. $10 on Gumtree or FB regularly, nothing to lose.

Some confusion here with modem and router though.

              • @scuderiarmani: I'm on Telstra HFC Cable, to be migrated soon to NBN through HFC cable.
