Original Coupon Deal

This is the cheapest i've seen so far for this current Razer Blade Stealth model.
It's the higher-tier model with the MX150, which is OK for light gaming. Not as good as even a GTX1050, but significantly better than an integrated.
Importantly it's got 16GB of RAM, which is hard to find in ultrabooks, or any Macbook Pro 13.

Intel Core i7-8565U 1.8GHz (8M Cache, up to 4.6 GHz) Quad Core CPU, Intel HM370 Chipset, 13.3" FHD (1920x1080) 60Hz Display, 16GB LPDDR3 2133Mhz (Onboard) Memory, 256GB M.2 PCIe SSD, NVIDIA MX150 4GB VRAM, No Optical Drive, HD Web Camera, Gigabit LAN, Wireless-AC, Bluetooth, 2 x USB 3.1 Type A, 1 x USB 3.1 Type-C (with Thunderbolt), 1 x USB 3.1 Type-C, Windows 10 Home

Bloody ripped off for the price with the cr@ppy GPU.

Could you please list another slim laptop with high build quality and same or better specs at the better price please?

      • +1

Similar is the UX331UN by Asus. Don’t know Razer has that good build quality it’s mostly priced in the logo.

        • Thanks mate! Not sure why someone down-voted my question though haha.

          • @onlinepred: Apparently the Razer is 4Gb MX150, but doesn’t say much because it’s not at all a performance graphics card.

      • Surface ?

        • The surface book 2 is much more expensive right?

  • +5

How can Razer even sell this shithouse graphics as gaming computer. Is just immoral

    • +4

It's not a gaming laptop, it's an ultralight 1.3kg laptop that is certified to work with the razor core desktop GPU housings.

I agree that it seems overpriced.

    • +1

      just my 2 cents

I had an earlier model of the stealth (without GPU)

One of the worst laptops I've ever used
they sacrificed any decent performance for thinness
      constant over heating
      freezing and unresponsive trackpad

got rid of it within 3 months of owning it

      • This is exactly like Surface Pros, Dell XPS, HP Spectre, pretty much any i7 ultralight laptop.

        • i'd argue on the dell xps as its not ultralight

i have that one and it works well

still i use my macbook more and that is rock solid
          overpriced…. but still rock solid

Tim Cook really gets on my nerves with those prices

          • @YLD1: The new prices seem pretty decent with 10%. Dell XPS 13 is an ultralight computer. I had 2017 and 2019 model i7 through work and both throttled and hate them. My old dell xps literally became unglued due to heat. After many replacements I had to make do with a track pad that stuck up as the battery bulged.

@onlinepred: the razer is not too bad for its decreased price. 16gb of ram. remember.

    $2000?
    Are they high?

  • Wish it would drop down to atleast this prior deal price again

    • that deal was unreal… as there was only 4 in stock. gone in a minute.

  • Bought it during this deal(https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/460836).

My view is for 1850-1900 definitely worth it. Not the best laptop i've used, but quite happy with it.

No issues so far (windows central does a decent review on this machine). For this category, ultrabook, i'd say it's definitely in the top 5, if not top 3 category.

If you want GPU, i'd say this is the best pick of the litter, and then the Matebook X Pro. If not, then I reckon go for any of the following: XPS 13, X1 Carbon, or Asus Zenbook.

Did my research over last 9 months, and whilst Matebook X Pro (2019) version was my first pick, went with this due to the instability over the huawei situation. Otherwise very happy with this machine.

Pros: fantastic build, monster for multi-tasking, discrete GPU
Con: heavy (1.3kgs for ultra portable), not the best keyboard for ultrabook. The asus and X1 are much better, and only 13 inch form factor, where as the competitors fit 14inches into a 13 inch form factor.

  • I am actually considering a Razer laptop but the 15" models. I'm at a lost at which one to go for.

    A. The Blade 15 Base - i7-9750H, RTX2060 6GB, 16GB, 512GB, 144Hz, 65Whr battery
    B. The Blade 15 Advanced - i7-8750H, RTX2070MQ 8GB, 16GB 256GB, 144Hz, 80Whr battery

The advanced model is $100 cheaper than the base model. Although the Advanced model has last year's Intel CPU, the benchmarks show they are not that different especially for gaming. The RTX2060 and RTX2070MQ also has not much difference. I believe RTX2070MQ is about 5% better. General consensus says its not worth it. But in this case the RTX2070MQ model is $100 cheaper?

So for $100 more on the base model, you get a newer CPU and more storage. Conversely the same can be said for $100 less on the advanced model, you get a larger battery, slimmer chassis, Vapour chamber and Windows Hello assuming all components/specs are not that different performance wise. The advanced model is a little older but is still the 2019 model. Does anyone know if the vapour chamber on the Advanced is that much better over heat pipes with the Base? All the Youtube videos seem to suggest that regardless of which model, the thermals seem to saturate in the end.

I don't mind starting with 256GB storage as I can always upgrade it and I have a 970 EVO 500GB lying around. My use case is 60% productivity and 40% casual gaming. Mostly World of Tanks, Fortnite, PUBG, Apex Legend, etc. To be honest, I'm kinda toying around with the idea of just getting the GTX1060 Base Model and be content with 1080p 60fps on the 60Hz screen. Its way cheaper.

    • If you absolutely have to get a laptop to play games rather than a desktop, then spend 2k on the 60hz 1060 Razer Blade deal, or 2.5 to 3k on a 144hz 2060 Razer Blade.
144 hz screen is worth the difference, if you have the budget. Plus the advanced model has windows hello.

Ignore the SSD, you just upgrade it for way less money if you need to.

      • Thanks frank21cn. I am leaning towards the Advanced model too. Unfortunately the deal on the Advanced model that fits within my budget ($3K) is for the GTX2070MQ and i7-8750H (last year's CPU). This model also has 144Hz panel. The GTX2060 model is on the Base which is thicker, has smaller battery and no Windows Hello. But it has i7-9750H (this year's CPU). I know they are not much of a difference.

So if none of the CPU, GPU and storage difference matters and we know Advanced has a bigger battery and Windows Hello, I'm now down to the difference in reliability between both construction? I read that there are a few issues with camera issues on the Advanced model due to how Razer routes the flat cable over the vapour chamber. The constant heat has affected the reliability.

Sorry for the questions as I'm just trying to tick boxes and going through the elimination process.

        • Let me know how you go.

I currently have the 7700HQ 1060 and looking to upgrade.
I love the keyboard an form factor of my razer blade but the build quality has been terrible.
and im lucky to get 3 hours of light use from the battery ..

          • @letthiswork1: Will do. I assume you play games such as Overwatch, Fortnite, etc? If yes, how's the 1060 doing on 'reasonable' settings (as in smooth gameplay close to 60fps and not too much eye candy sacrifice)?

        • Hey i have an update for you Davesday.
          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/469701

I bought an advanced model according to the deal i posted before.
there is a pressure damage spot on the screen.
I contacted Sydneytec for an exchange/repair, 7 days no response.
I contacted Razer for an exchange, 5 days later got a response to post the unit back to Singapore.

So not really confident about the QC, despite premium build quality. The after-sale care is a mess.

I did use the laptop for a few days. and my user case can give you an advise that you can ignore the battery size pretty much, if you play games, you need it plugged in. without games, the battery life is less than a full day's use, which only suits some people's use.

The 144hz screen is good, however, compared to my desktop gaming setup, i just cannot find reason to game on laptop. the fan is loud, and the unit is hot.

          • @frank21cn: Gosh sorry to hear that. I'm surprised Sydneytec is ignoring you given that they are the reseller. I keep reading about the odd QC defects about the Razer which is why I'm not sure if I should spend that much to begin with.

I can understand laptops in this form factor can get hot due to packing all the high performance components. Have you tried undervolting it?
