  • Any cheap tickets for Melbourne?

    • +1

Not at this stage jv. Might happen in the final weeks of the Melbourne season which will be mid to late October.

  • thanks!

  • Is it good? Compare with lion king, alladin?

    • Check out our review from the opening night - https://blog.tix.com.au/an-everlasting-showstopper-charlie-a…

We loved it, especially the Oompa Loompas! Great fun for adults and kids.

    • Not really.
Every other musical I have seen was better.
I found this one pretty bland and boring.

If you get a chance to see Come From Away, do it. It's amazing!

  • Hi rep - what are the best seats? is it good to sit at the front rows?

    • +2

      G'day homersyd!

We generally prefer to sit at least a third of the way back from the stage in the stalls to get some elevation. Sometimes sitting in the front rows means you're too close and are looking up at the stage.

      • thanks mate

FYI I thought this was awful.. taking the worst of the Gene Wilder and Tim Burton versions of the movie and mushing them into one. Girlfriend felt the same - almost walked out at the interval.

    • roadeh, yes unfortunately any show reworked for stage isn't going to please everyone. It's fun, whimsical and nostalgic so that's what ticked our boxes. Maybe some "fizzy lifting drinks" before the show would have helped :)

Chiming in for my 2c. This show was woeful. I was fortunate enough to see the original London production before the extensive re-writes they did for this Broadway version. They somehow took the average London show and made it even worse.

The sets are underwhelming, the plot changes frustrating, the songs are mediocre and worst of all no matter how much you try, you can't forget that four of the kids are actually played by adults (yes they have talent, it just doesn't suit the role). Certainly wasn't in pure imagination.

Also - FYI for those not really vested in theatre, they've been lucky to fill the theatre 50-60% per show and only really discounting now. Says it all.

+1 for Lasttix as a company though - keep up the good work.
