  • This would be perfect timing for me as the last offer is about to expire:

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/391066

…however it's not available for my Qantas Discovery Card - is there a direct link?

    • Not on my card either

    • Not on my cards.

      Direct link anyone?

    • Weird, I got it on my Qantas Discovery, but not my Qantas Ultimate

      • Same here, appeared in qantas discovery but not on black. Unfortunately my membership expiry is still next year

        • You got until next year January till you use this promo

  • +1

maybe it's only for those that didn't take up the previous amazon prime offer

    • I didn’t take it up last time, but was only offered this on my Velocity Escape card and not my DJs Amex

      • oh ok. i took it last time and it's not appearing for me xD.

    • I used last offer, still got this one. Was on seperate card to last time.

  • Or spend up to $62.50 get $25 max back on membership.

Now question is whether prime membership is similar merchant to Amazon purchases

    • +1

Similar but not likely the same.

Only payments for Prime Monthly or Prime Yearly membership are eligible for the offer. All other payments at Amazon.com.au are ineligible.

    • How come it's 'up to $62.50'? Can you please explain? I thought 12-months price for Prime was higher.

  • +2

Yeah, nothing in my card. I took up the last Amazon deal, so maybe it's targeted at those who didn't.

    • I still got it despite using it last time

  • +1

    Fark yeah I love Amazons.

    • the fun park, the forest or the online junk merchant ?
      :)

  • Can you stack yearly prime subscriptions On the one account?

    • +2

No, I don’t think so. It auto-renews at the end of your subscription and you can’t prepay.

  • Received the offer on my Platinum Edge card.

  • Hubby got it last time and used it so now only I received it on my CC. Probably makes sense to cancel initial prime membership a couple of days before it renews for the next year and subscribe again with my credit card.
The only thing-you loose one free month (trial) if you subscribe to prime on existing account instead of on a new account.

    • +5

You can just change the card it bills to, you don’t need to cancel the account and start a new one.

  • +1

    Got this on my essentials

  • +1

Bugger, didn't get it. Used it last time and definitely would've used it again.

    • +3

No, I got it. All good

  • It was in the offers section of both my cards, (main and additional card) for low rate credit card ($0 annual fee). I am sure I enrolled in previous prime offers but never got a discount (did not use them before they expired).

I'm already a prime member and don't think you can pre-pay another year, ? So really for current prime members the only benefit is if you pay monthly; or if you want to buy a family member prime… unless your yearly membership expires before the offer expiry date.

    • Other op suggest that just change the billing of Your CC

    • What is family member prime?

      • +1

I think they mean buying prime for a family member, i.e. paying for someone else's account

        • oh ok. i heard there is a feature to share our prime with one other account is that true?

          • @CyberMurning: not sure, sorry

          • @CyberMurning: There is in the USA. I have prime in the US for free because a friend shares it with me.

  • Used the offer on one amex last time, now appeared just on my second amex. Prime due to renew next month, so good timing. $23.60 bonus. Could get max $25 if switched to monthly for one month, but couldn't be bothered…

Maybe I need another amex for next year? ;-)

    • More money back from AmEx but wouldn’t a month be more expensive than 1/12th of yearly?

  • I used the offer last year, and my partner didn't. We have the same card. I didn't get it this year and they did.

    • +3

I didn't get it this year and they did.

How many partner do you have?

      • ???

      • +2

"Thry" can be used as a gender-neutral 3rd person singular pronoun.

  • This offer didn’t appear on my American Express explorer card. But the offer does appear on my American Express Platinum edge card, and each of the supplementary cards.

  • -1

Does anyone have the Manual link or know how to access it? Yes I know its targeted.
    Thanks

  • I think its offered to people who did not use the credit back last year

    • Not the case because I didn't use the offer last time but yet still did not get targeted. I did however enrolled for the first deal.

      • Yeah you didn't use the offer but if you did probably don't get it this time

  • +1

None of the 3 cards linked to my account had the offer - one is a new linked card added a month ago, and the other 2 used the deal last year. Found out dad had the offer so I'll get him to save it and use it on my Prime and I'll pay him back.

    The terms do say:

Payments must be made online at amazon.com.au/prime by 09/01/2020 to be eligible for the offer. If you are new to Amazon Prime, and you accept a free trial period, your Card will be charged at the end of that trial period. You must ensure you sign up to Amazon Prime membership by 09/12/2019 to ensure your Card is charged by 09/01/2020.

    But my Prime says:

On 16 December 2019, you will be charged $59.00 for another year of Prime.

So fingers crossed it still works since I don't wanna make a new Amazon account for this.

In case anyone is wondering here are the terms

    OFFER TERMS
    * Payments must be made online at amazon.com.au/prime by 09/01/2020 to be eligible for the offer. If you are new to Amazon Prime, and you accept a free trial period, your Card will be charged at the end of that trial period. You must ensure you sign up to Amazon Prime membership by 09/12/2019 to ensure your Card is charged by 09/01/2020.
    * Only payments for Prime Monthly or Prime Yearly membership are eligible for the offer. All other payments at Amazon.com.au are ineligible.
    * Offer is limited to a maximum of $25 credit per Card to which the offer is saved and only spend on this Card counts towards the Offer.
    * Excludes transactions where you do not spend directly with your Card to which the offer is saved, at Amazon Prime at www.amazon.com.au/prime. Offer valid on the Australian website only.
    * Excludes transactions made through a third party establishment or payment processor.
    * Credit is not redeemable for cash or other payment form.
    * Credit should appear on your billing statement within 5 business days from qualifying spend but may take up to 90 days from 09/01/2020.
    * Credit will not be applied to your Card Account if your Card has been suspended or cancelled.
    * Credit may be reversed if your qualifying purchase is refunded or cancelled.
    * Full Offer Terms available here.

    • +1

From what I understand, the term said that the payment has to occur before 9/1/2020. So if you're a new member taking up the free 1 month, you need to sign up 1 month prior to ensure the payment occur at the end of the free trial period and before 9/1/2020.

Since you're an existing member, you won't get a free 1 month trial so your payment will be taken on 16/12/19. So you're good :)

      • Ahh, that makes more sense. Thanks :)

      • My free trial ends on 28th Dec. When will be my payment due then? Can I still take advantage of Amex offer?

        • Login to your account and click on the prime button and it'll show you the date you'll be charged but it'll almost certainly be the 28th if that's when your trial ends. Make sure you change it from the default monthly to annual for the most benefit otherwise you just save 40% on 1 month.

          • @apsilon: Can I change it to monthly right now during trial period or can I do it only after trial is over? Where can I change it? Couldn't find a relevant setting.

            • @virhlpool: I think you can, did mine a year ago so hard to recall. Towards top right hover over Accounts and Lists then select Your Account on the menu that comes up. From there you'll see one of the 6 large icons at the top is Prime. Click that and your date and renewal period and where you change it is on the left.

  • No offer on my Platinum Reserve Card

  • Great timing!

    Next Payment:
On 19 July 2019, you will be charged $59.00 for another year of Prime.

Offer was available on my Amex Essentials card, payment type switched over :)

  • I signed up for prime on 3rd Jun 19 and have got this offer on my card. It seems I cant avail it on the same amazon account?? Any ideas or I need to create another account for this?

  • No offer for me this time, had it last year already.

  • Someone mentioned prime family membership, what is this? I can only see monthly and yearly options.

Also, can I get the offer multiple times or just one time? Thinking just do one month for July and December and maybe one more in between when there is good deals

    • +1

T&Cs refer to payments, plural. Last time, people used it for one monthly payment then an annual payment to maximise cashback.

  • +1

I used the offer last year and got it again.

I did cancel my membership part way through the year though. I switched to monthly to minimise the damage if I forgot to cancel, but it immediately switched me from annual to monthly.

  • Thanks OP.

I searched for this offer earlier but couldn't find it. But just after 11am i received an email from AMEX with the offer :)

  • Got this by email just now too, on Platinum Edge.
Got the offer last year, perfectly timed as it’s expiring, think it was on Explorer last year though.

Came here to see if it was generally available, as I don’t have it on Explorer and that’d be more MR points, but I guess $25 back will do 😂

  • Received this last year on my Platinum Edge, which I took up. Just checked my Platinum Edge account, but unfortunately this offer is not made available to me this year. :( Still upvoted this as it is a good deal for those of us that uses Amazon frequently enough.

  • That's $2.95/month with Annual membership!
    (59*0.60)/12
    Bargain.

  • No email / link for the Qantas Ultimate….though I do recall last year that it did eventually come thru (used it for Prime….and have been using Prime free shipping frequently.). A case of just waiting and checking

  • Used it last year and my Prime expires on 31/1/2020, and got it again this time. If only I could pay for multiple years in advance.

  • +2

If the timeline does not fit, would it be okay to cancel the amazon membership (annually) and sign up within the dates?

    • +1

Wanting to know this too. I have no idea what happens when you cancel an annual membership. Not sure if it'll end straight away or not end until my next renewal date.

Mine doesn't renew until 29/01/2020, so I can't get this deal. If I can cancel and rejoin then I'd be ok.

      • Exactly

      • You can do this (well you can with a trial membership, so I assume this would be the same). Contact their support via web chat and request they end your annual membership early and then renew.

With the deal last year I had trial membership that was going to expire a couple of days after the AmEx deal ended, so I contacted via web chat, they ended my trial membership and started me on the paid membership..

        • i guess the next question is will amazon refund the membership proportionally for the unused days/weeks?

          • @CyberMurning: Good question - as I was on a trial membership, and there was only 4 days I was losing before the ending of the trial / starting to pay for the annual subscription, I wasn't worried about losing them..

  • Last year got it on my explorer this year on my platinum charge :)

  • Damn nothing on all three of my Essentials cards including one I have not redeemed this on before :(

  • do not have this deal…sad…

  • Oooh, I got this offer. Plus I have $10 from yesterday when joining for a Prime trial and watching a video.

    • How did you get the $10?

    • If you signed up for that offer that means you already got amazon prime (currently in trial period) so how will you avail the amex offer - do you just get it to charge your Amex at the end of the trial.period ? As in, in payment settings you have the amex card there for card details and as long as this is before 09/01/20 then you'll get the cashback?

      • Yes

  • Got it on my Qantas Frequent Flyer card

  • just make sure you get the right amazon prime in the right country

It looks like AU not Amazon Prime US

  • Got it, cheers OP :) Amazing value.

  • -4

i dont get it - why is this so good when you can just get a free trial?

    • +1

Trial is for how long? Then what?

This is for an entire year.

Last year it was 50% back so I got prime for $30 for the whole year

      • -2

        free trial is unlimited?

        1 month on every account

  • +1

I got this but my yearly Amazon prime expires a couple of weeks after the deadline :(

Is there anything I can do to take advantage of it?

    • I need to know this too

  • +12

Can't find the save/submit button on the manual enrollment page.(?)

    • +2

LOL yeah - someone finally found the manual link, but there is no way to save???!!!

      • +1

Yep. Thought I might be able to take advantage of it but, but seems not

  • +1

Used it last year. Didn't get it this time.

  • +1

Native Amazon Prime Video app for Android TV rolling out from today, and ChromeCast support available now too:

    https://9to5google.com/2019/07/09/youtube-fire-tv-prime-vide…

    • Sweet! Will be nice to see some natives

      • Yeah I saw the chromecast button in the Amazon prime video app yesterday after double checking for support when recommending devices.

  • +1

    I also cant save it

  • Got it on all 5 of my Amex Altitudes

    • damn dude you making MONIES!

      • You mean Amazon is making money?

    • Unless you want to buy prime for relos/mates it's just a waste imo
