  • yer not bad at all, one thing I dont like about these TVs is that I can see the Flicker and it drives me nuts

    • And Plasmas cause heaps of RF interference to HF Radio reception.
Whereas LCD and LED panels are extremely RF Quiet and use less power, but unfortunately cost more $$

      • Oh boy, here we go again. Lets just wait for a few plasma fans and the war can start again. Personally, I also prefer LCD/LED, but must admit that Panasonic plasmas are very good panels.

        • No war dude, just a fact.
I have a Samsung 63" 3D plasma here in the lounge, SENSATIONAL picture quality.
Just as one would expect EXTREMELY RF noisy.

A similar sized LCD was $8k, (12 months ago), so i would rather spend that money on a nice Ham Radio and Amplifier :)
When i am on the radio, the TV is off, so no issue.

        • Twisty is a bit unlucky as the majority of the population don't/can't notice the flicker, but if you do notice it, its always there. Glad i can't.

Thats because Samsung TV's are a joke. They spend all their money on having a good looking shiny bezel and design, then put in $2 components that break down all the time. Never buy a Samsung TV unless you are prepared for headaches. Not to mention the uniformity of LCD's (especially newer LED backlight models) is a joke in itself…

    • I spoke to a store guy who reckoned the 3D version (VT20A) flickers less than the 2D (V20A, S20A) because the electronics have twice the refresh rate. He said they used to have two of these respective models side by side and people could see the difference.

Having said that I've got a 54V20A and I don't notice any flicker.

Another possibility it's to do with the source? I just realised yesterday that my media player had the wrong refresh rate and I fixed it. Worth a look?

    • Just goes to show how good the response time is. Great for fast moving action. Poor response times lead to blurring when the image moves quickly.

Something for you to test: get a static image on the screen such as a computer image, put some text in a window, grab the window with a mouse and move it quickly in a circular motion. Can you still read the text? If it has a good response time, eg a CRT or fast response plasma, you can still read the text.

wait another 6 months and you will get it even cheaper …

    • Not so sure about that. People were able to buy them for much cheaper than what they are going for now at shops like Bing Lee, HN and so on. Besides that, this is a run out model and most stores don't have any and can't get any either. You can get VT30A, but that will cost anywhere between $5k and $6k.

      • I think because of the size and the long wait for the next model, this is not going to be treated as a run out model the same as the 54" or less models.

  • I would also be very wary of doing your own pick up. These things will not fit in many vehicles and shouldn't be laid down. They're meant to stay upright only. I've heard stories of cracked screens from laying them down. I reckon they would go in a van if you put it from front to back and tied the box to the side, or in a ute with similar support on the side of the tray, but not across.
