  • Bought, tracked. Thank you!

  • can i tether with this?

    • Why wouldn't you be able to tether with a sim thats on 4g?

      • was reading the fair go policy and was going around in circles

        • Fairly sure you should be able to tether just fine. Plus its free (technically 10c profit) so not really much to worry about.

@Originality: not if they cancel your service then refuse the cashback…

            • @B-Man02: They have no reason to do that and they wouldnt.

              I didnt neg you btw

    • +1

      Yes

Before anyone labels you "stupid" for asking such question, I would like people to know that if you are using an iPhone, or in rare cases a flagship Android phone (think Samsung phones with TouchWiz) with Original Firmware, it is possible that they can disable tethering or internet sharing.

Technically, there is no difference between tethered and "normal" data usage. However, fancy phones receive an instruction from the carrier saying "no tethering allowed" and the phones listen to it. They just blank out the tethering option or don't allow you to turn it on, even if it is actually possible to do it by the phone.

This problem is non-existant on Custom Andoird Firmwares as they are not submitting to telco's greed or just don't care about this.

I guess instead of asking if I can tether with it I should of asked does the fair go policy allow tethering.

        • +1

          Like I said,

Technically, there is no difference between tethered and "normal" data usage.

They will only find out if you are tethering if you admit it yourself or you do things that 99% of phones don't do, like running a torrent client that is downloading 24/7 or using it as your webpage server. Even then, both require manual "human" investigation by telco so in 99.99% of cases they don't ever bother.

    • Why wouldn't u just Hotspot instead?

Unless ur talking 'legacy' non-wifi devices?? Desktop PC?

      • Is that not exactly the same minus the cable…. hence still tethering?

  • When you say "New services" that includes port ins right?

New services is different to new customers right? I bought a one month sim from them once. Don't feel like making a new account though.

Paid full price for it at the time, but got no reception in the hospital. Ended up not using any of the 40GB.

    • Yes and yes.

Awesome thanks! Parents between cable/NBN providers and will need sim for a couple weeks.. perfect!

I have an existing Catch Connect account but no active service/number on that account. Will I still be eligible for cashback if I activate a new service/number on the existing Catch Connect account? Thanks in advance

        • Cashback is only eligible on the initial purchase of a new service.

          • @tightarse: So does he need to make a new account to get cashback? Cheers

            • @ihbh: A new CC acct, yes.

              • @tightarse: Hi TA, CC's $4.90 for 30 days 40G deal is eligible for 'New Service/Customer" only. So as long as CC accepts the sign up as "New Customer/Service", cashback should be approved. Am I correct?

                • @F1ngolf: Correct. CC makes the call on what is and what isn’t a new customer, not CR.

                  • +2

@tightarse: Perfect! fyi, I had a confirmation from CC live chat this afternoon to say that the $4.90 offer is eligible as long as the mobile service is either new or port in number and I can use my old CC account to purchase the deal. Let's see if this would be the case.

              • @tightarse: Crap. Now you say so.

                I interpreted

Cashback is only eligible on the initial purchase of a new service.

to mean, buying the sim card and not any further recharges for that service. I didn't think it would mean a new account.

  • Am i still eligible for cashback purchasing 2 new sim cards using 1 catchconnect and same cashback account?

    • +1

The issue is not the CR account…

Cashback is only eligible on the initial purchase of a new service.

my experience with goconnect has been really really bad. They couldnt fix my data dropouts

    • So what's that got to do with this?

  • Do you select what number to port during the purchase, or during activation?

    • +1

During activation. You can port your number then, if wanted.

  • Did anyone get an error message when accessing Catchconnect website?
    This site can’t be reached
t.cfjump.com took too long to respond.

    • It's working fine for me. Even allocated a new number on the sim with an option to activate now.

    • i cant connect to catch connect website either. im using kogan mobile.
Edit: worked fine when I switched on my vpn so must be kogan/vodafone issue. graysonline wasnt working either. Had a few dns issues lately and service slower. Good time to join catch connect, I signed up to 365 375GB for $185 after cash rewards.

  • @Tightarse - How much cashback do we get on the $15 54GB/90day plan??

    • +1

All 90 day plans are $5 Cashback at the moment.

      • +1

        Cheers TA..

  • Is thinking of switching from Kogan to CatchConnect
The deal comes at the right time to test the service between Kogan and CatchConnect

    • Kogan = Voda
      Catch = Optus

Totally depends on the area where u use ur phone or tablet etc…

  • They charged me $4.95 and an extra $0.94. Anybody else got that?

    • Additional $0.62 for my case.

      • I had that happen to me as well, twice, not in this instance but I had an extra $1 pending in my account for about 2 weeks after I made a purchase from PetCircle and then again when I made another purchase. It had my original purchase amount and then the extra $1 debit separately, just sitting there pending but it finally disappeared. So not too sure what that's about but I'd definitely keep an eye on it, from my experience its nothing and just disappears after a bit of time and no extra money is taken.

      • Mine as as advertised $4.90.

  • Thanks! Needed a Sim card for data.

  • EDIT : Looks like it tracked as a 3rd July purchase. :)

Finished making my purchase at 11:59.

Had issues with the account setup. It seemingly would not take the set password. So I reset it, and then it worked.

    • Had that problem as well need to use number upper and lower but no symbols

  • Off topic: Just noticed today (only) that anything with sound does not play when using catch connect mobile data i.e. Voip calls, You Tube etc on tethered PC. Switch to say a Telstra Sim and all is well, switch back and same issue. Was fine up to today. Anyone else experience this but might be Mobile Tower issues. More as a matter of interest!

    • +1

      Nope fine for me

  • Bought one yesterday and tracked in a matter minutes.
Will make perfect for "free" WiFi at work with a 3G modem.

  • whats the monthly price ?
