Specs look pretty good for the price

  • I should have waited.

    • +1

waiters don't get paid much though…

      • Not if no one orders

    • +1

you could just buy this and return the previous order when it arreives

      • +1

serial numbers wonโ€™t match the order …..

      • I got the Lenovo deal ๐Ÿ˜†

graphic card is too low. otherwise its a good price.

  • I've struggled to find any decent comparison between this gfx card and my existing 1050ti. I get it's not as good, but how much worse is it?

    • people seem to expect a lot from mobile graphics cards .i have one in my laptop …. speed produces heat so cooling and space will always be a problem.

if you really need the graphics get a desktop ….. i have only ever been impressed with graphics cards on laptop vs laptop, as soon as itโ€™s laptop vs desktop there is little comparison.

      • Graphics cards in laptops nowadays are fine. The 2018/19 Nvidia cards are extremely power efficient and mid range cards like the GTX 1650 and GTX 1660 ti are pretty much the same on laptops vs desktops +/- 10%.

This one though is a bottom of the barrel MX250 that barely outperforms and AMD integrated GPUs.

    • +3

Big difference, the mx250 is good for only light gaming

    • +3

This should help show a comparison between the MX250 and the 1050TI, seems the MX250 is about half the performance…

  • Need to buy a laptop this weekend for a relo learning various design stuff on (mostly adobe suite, potentially video later). May want to output at 4k to external monitor later as they learn more. For a keeper a few years i think this is close to what is needed but not so sure about the GPU? Any advice fellas?

    • There are 2 options to connect a 4K UHD display.

      From the product page:

Convenient connections: The latest USB 3.1 Type-C port allows universal charging and supports DisplayPort for connecting to ultra-high resolution external displays. An HDMI 2.0 port allows videos to be played up to 60 fps with support for an external 4K UHD display.

  • Is this graphic card enough to play elders scroll online or other light gaming?

    • +1

      Should be

No cash reward or shop back on Dell?

    • There is check again daddy

    • +1

There is, but EOFY@5EPPDISCOUNT is not listed on their websites, so cashback may not be payable.
      It's worth a try though.

  • +1

How is the FHD screen on this laptop?

  • +1

Thanks for posting the new deal 1bug! I had assumed the old deal had extended to the 16GBs but didn't realise the 8GBs dropped in price too.

    • +1

Thanks for the heads-up on the 16GB RAM models.

  • How does the warranty work? Do I have to pay for shipping if I need to return the defective laptop?

    • For repairs or replacement of parts, it's covered by 1 Year Ltd Hardware Warranty, In Home Service after Remote Diagnosis. So after diagnosis, they'll send a tech onsite to repair/replace part/s.

For a defective laptop with major faults, they'll send you a replacement laptop (after remote diagnosis), and arrange to pick up the faulty one at no cost to you.

  • Do they ship outside of Australia ??

    • Does anyone know. Their chat options are closed atm.

      Do they deliver overseas?

      • I don't know, but do Dell have a local website for the country you want to ship to? If so, the local website may have a similar deal.

        • +1

No they don't have the same deal :((

  • +1

If Iโ€™m paying over a grand, Iโ€™d expect it to be at least with better screen (4K) ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

    • +1

well not 4k,but 1080p? no thanks

    Purchased yesterday with 8.4% cashback.
    Thanks OP.

    • Excuse my ineptitude… but how do I get EOFY@5EPPDISCOUNT (or other discount code for that matter) to work on checkout? It keeps saying not a valid code… got a few hours left to purchase.. any help appreciated.. cheers :) Trying to buy the 15 7000 (8GB)($1098) and apply further discount. failing

      • It looks like the coupon has expired.

I just tested it and it now says "The coupon code entered is invalid. Please check the code to ensure that it was entered correctly".

EDIT: If you still want to buy, Cashrewards currently have an upsized cashback of 4.2% on Inspirons (on ex-GST price)…
        https://www.cashrewards.com.au/dell-australia

        • Cheers 1bug. Tried that it says "This is a valid coupon code, but there are no matching items currently in your cart".
have you tested it? sorry for the grasping. thanks

          • @sandra66: Agreed, the EOFY5 code doesn't work either.

What I meant is you can use Cashrewards cashback (without any coupons) for a further 4.2% cashback on the $1,099 price (I don't think cashback would have been payable with EOFY@5EPPDISCOUNT, as it wasn't listed on the site).
