    @amazonau… cough cough. join in!

Sighted at Ringwood VIC this morning hence probably nationwide.

I remember when this launched and was selling on eBay for thousands of dollars due to scarcity.

    It definitely pays to wait.

    • +1

Wait, people were selling these for thousands? It would have been cheaper to buy an actual NES and games.

      • +2

Wasn”t thousands but was definitely three or four times RRP at one stage

No HDMI on an original NES…

        • +1

No NES components inside a NES mini… Just a glorified RasPi with emulator

I was in the US at the time. The consoles were much more scarce than in Australia.

I queued up for many, many hours to get two units. One for myself and one as a surprise present.

There were literally units going for thousands in the US. I monitored one auction that went to $4,900. It was so tempting to just sell both units. But I did the right thing… I'm not so low as to become a scalper.

@[Deactivated]: What a scalper lol . I'd call it smart trader's getting out top of the market :)

Hmmmmm not everyone has it I guess .

            • @profar: I missed out on the initial batch, and did see them go around the 400aud mark.

I still occasionally see the for stupid prices. There's one on market place atm for $220.

I did just that and bought it during the last amazon sale. Definately pays to wait.

Is Super C Super Contra? If so I wonder if the cheat to get 30 life works ;)

      • Thanks i forgot what it was

    • I sincerely apologies if my questiones wasted 3 seconds of someone's life, or reducing cerebrospinal fluid in their brain, apologies

      • Reading this post certainly did.

  • I think the NES service on the Switch has a bit to do with this console being discounted so heavily now

Just an emulator really. Mario Bros isnt anywhere near as smooth as at the arcade/original NES. You definitely notice the input lag.

I ended putting a bunch of other games like AFL and also installed the gameboy advance emulator. The Gen2 pokemon games like firered are ok on it.

  • Is this one better than the PS Classic?

    • -1

Let me ask u this. Is an apple better then a banana?

      • Sorry. I should have asked "why is this more expensive than a PS classic". I think internally they are same.

        • +1

Only $10 diff? Diff platform, diff games. Even inside if they were diff ur still buying either an apple or banana. I mean one might run on a diff resolution but does it matter unless u mod it? In which case u can put any console game on it… Johnny p already kinda explained it I think

The ps classic's original rrp was $149 I believe. But it never sold like they've imagined hence the sales you see for $39.

As for the nes classic the initial release sold out very quickly and like others have mentioned it was subject to scalpers. After the first production run and the snes classic release, nintendo reproduced these again as there was demand for them. They have announced that once these systems sell out they won't be producing anymore.

So to answer your question regarding price, when nintendo systems/games sell well they generally don't get discounted or get a price drop.

As for the hardware I believe the hardware in the psc is superior, but the emulation isn't as polished as the nes classic. If you're going to modify the system I would get the psc.

    • +1

No. At least ps classic comes with 2 controllers.

Thi would be a goo deal if you didn't need to pay for Cosco membership

    • +1

Still a good deal for the members.

  • Will anyone price match? I know Amazon had them for @ $67 last week.

  • No go at act . Still $113

  • Tried to find it my local Costco in Epping, Victoria. Couldn't find this one. There is another version with around 26 games, and it costs $114.

    • The other one you saw was the SNES model with a second controller that has more buttons and less games in total.

I asked Epping Warehouse today and they looked it up on the system in front of me (I could see their screen). No stock at Victorian warehouses as of this afternoon, except for Docklands that had a quantity of 50 at $50 each. They said it is a discontinued product, once it is out of stock they don’t expect to stock it again.

      • I've jumped on the amazon deal. As reggie mentioned before last xmas, that once remaining stock sells out that's it.

  • Best bit is this can be hacked to add more games, or if you have the right controller you can emulate other systems on this.

Apparently the SnesMini is the best choice, it runs everything (including PS1 games) smoother than the NESmini and the PS1mini.

So if the SNESmini ever goes on sale, and you want a good little emulator grab one.

That said, the PS1mini is apparently easy to hack too, comes with 2 controllers, and is cheap as well.
