  • You'll never be able to get off RD's mailing list once they have your address. :)

    • You can get off their mailing lists but you've gotta be stern. My mum was getting bucketloads of rubbish from them and was almost in tears about it as it was relentless. I called em up and told them it had to stop and to make sure she was off ALL lists and it actually worked.

Giving them a phone number would be a huge mistake.

not a free subscription, just a free issue to HOOK YOU IN:

from link: "If you like your FREE ISSUE, you can continue receiving the magazine at just $39.95 for 12 great issues – that’s a saving of over 44% off the normal yearly cover price, or the equivalent of $3.33 per issue, plus FREE postage and handling. This is an unbeatable price, one you’ll never find on the newsstands. However, if you don’t wish to subscribe, just write “cancel” on the invoice you’ll receive and return to us… the Free Issue and Free Surprise Gift are yours to keep no matter what!"

this is just bait advertising to me.

OP, change the title or I will neg ! (thanks mod)

  • as stated above, this is not a free subscription

    • I did get a free subscription, which I did actually turn into a paid one.
It was so difficult with all of the Spam mail, that I stopped paying to get them off my back.
They never chased me for supplied copies not paid.
Thank god all of the bloody competition crap has ended for me, a NIGHTMARE.

Congratulations you may have won a years worth of annoying letters.

  • Telstra sold my details to Readers Digest once. I know it was them as they were the only people to have ever misspelt my name in such a way. Moving house stopped the flow :)

One free issue for being bombarded for years after with letters which tell you "You may have already won"?

I got one the other day addressed to a a relative who died seven years ago. No kidding.

Imagine what they would do to the living to get their hooks into you.

It's a great little magazine. Just not worth the hassle. Buy it at the newsagent instead.

  • Phone number is not a mandatory field.

  • I'm a little scared of signing up after hearing the horror stories here. Not worth taking the risk in my opinion.

  • NOT a good idea. They will spam you forever and ever and ever.

  • done be fooled into it, massive amounts of spam.

  • If you hate getting junk/spam mail, I suggest you do not sign up for this.

Many of their sweepstakes mailing is preprinted once they have your details. So you can always call and get them to take you off their mailing lists, but you may still receive mailing for 8-12 weeks afterwards.

  • Avoid like the plague. Chronic spammers, junk mailers.

  • I do not see why there are so amny negatives here.

You get a free copy of their magazine and in exchange they send you out some letters every few months and an email every 1-2 weeks.
I am on their mailing list from some promotion a while ago, the amount of stuff they send you is minimal.

They do not send that much.
If you are signed up to scoopon/cotd or any of the daily deal sites you will get HEAPS more emails then readers digest will ever send you.
