  • what happened to free listing promotions????

I guess eBay has gone tightwads

  • Is this supposed to make up for making Paypal compulsory on all auctions?

  • Link's not working for me. :(

Many of the ebay promotions were only with PayPal as a payment option so I guess that doesn't need to be mentioned anymore!

Free insertion fees are incredibly scarce - once a year if you're lucky, and usually on the US site.

I would STRONGLY RECOMMEND that people not list on eBay for the near future (at least until there's some response from the ACCC - due no later than June 17) - together we can let them know how much we like being told what to do!

  • Free listings were more regular when there was some competition from Yahoo Auctions..

When Yahoo died, so did free listings.. Sad day..Yahoo auctions had some real bargains on it too..

  • They have a little competition from the Aussie site OZtion - free listings there.

I agree with Gav about not listing on ebay in the near future. Maybe they'll get the message.

  • Sorry if the link doesn't work. Its my first time posting a bargain!!! Did you go to Ebay and look? Yes Ebay should have a boycott on mass to get the msg!!!!

  • don't worry about the links.. when you list during that promotional period, all the necessary discount will be applied automatically.

As a loyal seller and buyer in the last 8 years, I am grossly upset by all the changes that eBay made such as

    1. Cumpolsory paypal option for payment since 21 May and only Paypal accepted 3 weeks later

    2. Inability to give neg- feedback to bad buyers (the idiotic and rude buyers)

  • I haven't heard this rule about not leaving feedback for rude buyers??? I had some idiot psycho woman bid on something and win when I had stated it was local pickup! I refunded her payment and said NO CAN DO!!!!!!! as it was bid and I couldn't fit it in a box! Anyway the psycho left me neg feedback which Ebay is now going to remove as I have a perfect record so far!

  • zena, it started today. Sellers CANNOT leave negative feedback for buyers. Crazy isn't it?! Just like eBay is right now! So you can do EVERYTHING right and still the buyer can leave you negative feedback or threaten to leave you negative feedback.

  • Oh now that is just so wrong on so many levels! How did you find out because I haven't heard or seen that one till now! No wonder that psycho woman had the guts to leave me neg feedback knowing I can't reciprocate the favour!

  • OZtion is the way for me.

    eBay sucks for sellers.
    eBay is dead.

(Edited by scotty — remove affiliation link)

  • Wow thanks for that link Gav! I had NO idea! Sounds so biased and protective of the Buyers now! It would just make it a field day for the psycho buyers to go shopping! Yikes!

  • Over the last 8 years, I maintain a perfect score of 100% positive and yesterday, it was broken by some idiot complaining that the item was too long to be delivered. It wasn't even 1 week yet since I posted the item.

This is going to be a neg feedback fest for a bunch of eBay idiotic buyer.

and Wait. There's more to it.

Since buyers are now at their liberty to cast negative vote regardless of their conduct, sellers got the pounding with less and less perfect feedback score.

and.. until it reach below 98%, you fall into "high risk" sellers category and then paypal and ebay restriction kicked in.

Yep, if you deemed "high risk" by Ebay and paypal, they can freeze, lock, and do whatever they can to your Ebay/paypal account, and you can do nothing about it.

Paypal is not banking institution so they are not regulated as normal financial institution.

    sux and sux and sux..

    so long eBay

    ElCheapo

  • NO go for me!!! Since the increase in listing fees and ebay fees plus dont' forget paypal fees they gotta do something to keep their halo from falling

  • I got a question about selling an item with "Buy it Now".

Does ebay charge you $5 as "instertion fee" and $5 as the "final vaule" fee or is just $5 ?

    http://pages.ebay.com.au/help/sell/fees.html

    • You pay both fees ie. $10

  • While this is a legitimate deal, the 25c-$3.00 you save in listing fees is going to be eaten up by the Paypal fees most likely to be incurred.

  • yeah prob no way getting around those paypal fees.

Just getting back to the "buy it now" fee, so it cost $10 to sell somthing buy it now, how then or why then do people sell stuff at or below $10 "buy it now" if it going to cost $10 to sell ?
