KIWI Design have released the second generation of this wall mount which has been designed specifically for use with AU plugs so it'll no longer be a tight squeeze.

These are good for mounting your Google Home Mini on the wall or wherever else you have a power point. They reduce the cable mess and both holders connect to each other via magnets. I personally use a few mounted in the bedroom and behind the TV.

Thanks… I'll need to buy quite a few after the Spotify/Tic Tac deal…

    • +2

After that deal I'd expect every OzBargainer to have a few by now.

    • Can you please explain whats that reference with TicTac? I noticed it mentioned elsewhere and couldnt get any sense of it.

      • Tic Tac = Free spotify account

Spotify account = free google home mini…

        All finished now though.

or buy a 3D printer and print out a few

    • That's one expensive and time consuming mount. Does it come with magnets? :P

      • +1
        • Shame the printer won't spit out those magnets. My half sarcastic point was the cost involved in buying the printer, materials and time spent would far outweigh buying this :P

          • +2

@Clear: If you have to buy a bunch of them, then doing it via 3D printer will outweight it. I have 8 google minis, and 3 echos that i have to do up mounts for, so i am going down the 3D printer route for it, as there is heaps of other things to print out as well

            • +3

@asa79: That's understandable. I have a 3D printer myself but opted for these due to the quality.

              • @Clear: Also i dont have powerpoints in the middle of wall either, all of my powerpoints except for a couple kitchen ones are hidden away behind tvs, cabinets etc

            • +1

@asa79: Do you live in a shopping centre.

              • @boujee: not sure what you mean

                • @asa79: why do you need so many speakers

                  • @boujee: a speaker in each room, cheaper then a sonos in each room

  • These are good. Got the first gen one.

  • Just ordered one and after the discount code it totaled $14.81!!!

    • Really? That's awesome! Pays to check the coupon before posting… lemme update.

  • Cheers OP grabbed a few at $14.81

  • does this design work with our standard power points which are side by side horizontally?

    • I'd expect it to still overlap the second one.

      • I ended up shaving the sides off to fit other plugs side by side.

I like this but I can't justify paying more for a mount than the actual Google Home Mini lol

  • Superglue will do same job. Or nails.

    • +2

If you are renting like me, might not want to risk damaging the wall.

Why tf did Google make the Australian plug so big anyway?

  • Surprisingly (according to the grain of salt internet) most people are uninterested in the new virtual assistants and of the ones that are most are using Apple products and they use them to shop.

Despite this Amazon has reportedly spent over 22 billion US dollars on "R&D" (I always sceptical of tax avoidance though) and uses over 10,000 employees to try and make them … useful.

These things are terrible bought 2 of them and the magnet was so weak it fell off the wall.

    • +1

Considering this is generation 2 only just released last week I'll see how strong they really are when mine rocks up in a few days.

    • I had an issue with the magnet also, turns out I wound the cable incorrectly which forced the magnet(s) to fall out of place, it was fine after re-doing it.

    • I got one today and it was like what you said. The magnet was too weak.

      • Darn. So the 2nd Gen is still bad. Did you have to tape it then?

      • The reviews clearly mention this fact. Thats Y I didnt buy these.

  • Walls have ears.

      So do your phones.

”Nice double wall gang you have there.
Would be a shame if someone were to..
    BLOCK IT“

  • Finally a solution to hopefully clear up the tangled mess on our kitchen counter. Thanks OP.

    • I hope this is better than the original version. That was a tight fit, and for some strange reason it kept jacking up the volume of my mini to max. Not sure why that was happening. The magnet? I took it out of the wall mount and volume stays at the level I select.

Might have the try the gen 2.

      • Electrical interference from the power cable maybe?

I've got a USB charging cable next to mine and sometimes when it brushes the touch buttons on the side of the mini it triggers them.

  • I'm not getting these weak magnet issue people are describing as it sits fine in my power points. Adding the extra magnets from the first gen certainly help so a good idea for those who have it.

  • Just got it today, set it up in my bathroom 2 hrs ago. Lets see how it goes overnight. But so far its holding up well.

Its more intricate than I expected and quite well designed. Very happy with it. Thanks OP

  • I would love to buy a few Amazon Echo Flex units but they aren't available in Oz yet. Hopefully these guys make a wall holder for the Echo Dot gen 3 soon (gen 2 is available).
