        naturally ;)

  • Great bargain .. BUT in my eagerness to snap it up I allowed the charge to go through without taking the - valid - SAVE20 - coupon off. I IMMEDIATELY phoned and emailed customer service (who are closed). Hope they will take care of me tomorrow! Wonder what my chances are?

    • +8

your chances are about as good as the possiblity that your login name passes through a spellcheck

    • +5

you don't know how to play the ozbargain game. you bought without the bargain!

    • +2

Cancel the order, start a new ID there, and reorder afreash.

Remember - each unique EMAIL ADDIE is your login to each individual account [wink]

  • +2

    4GB for $4 = cool.
Buying 5 and applying the code = GENIUS!

    thanks OP!

  • +1

    Epic deal, I <3 Staples.

  • +1

Gee thanks - Geethanks, bargain of the week, but only half the bargain if you live in Tassie $11 freight. I love this sharing community.

    • +2

Don't fel left out - Tasmanians get to share other things! Like errrr… beer.

  • +2

I hope they have 20,000 of these in stock.

  • +1

nice deal! deal of the year potential!

  • There's been 4270 clicks thus far. Presumably everyone's buying 5 each minimum which if say of that 4270 clicks, 1000 people buy, that's 5000 sold. We'll see how much stock they have tomorrow I guess

    • +2

i bought just 2, i like the verbatim ones a little better (maybe its the colours lol)

      • +2

I agree. Those did look a bit nicer + smaller

  • got one, thanks

  • +1

can't believe they still survive for this long.

    • they are actually saving money instead of buying tv ad time

  • To all here, don't get your hopes up, i've ordered with them before where stock were stated as available and then not being delivered due to unavalability, I'll be surprised to see if 5 percent of people who purchased actually get item.

    • +2

You weren't here for the $35 HDD's, were you?

      • +1

Just checked - they were actually $34.50 incl delivery ROFL

        • -3

and I sold mine for $60+shipping on Ebay.

    • +1

I agree, am stating the obvious here, but the people who are saying "I got them" haven't actually got them, merely the system allowed them to place an order.

  • very nice. I didn't need the USB sticks so I bought 2 archive boxes and super glue instead :D

  • Wow thanks! I just got 5 4gb usbs as suggested. Awesome!

  • YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME

  • +2

I bought 15 because why the hell not. I also ordered both hard drives staples had, the most recent one being the 1 TB 3.0. Great job Staples, even though you did get my order wrong and haven't replied to me in about a week…

    • +1

did u receive your hard drive?

      • Yep, received everything I've ordered, apart from the aforementioned screw up.

  • +2

why dont they post to QLD. oh well. my friend will be surprised when 5 arrive at her house in melbourne :)

    • +1

They don't use Australia Post - They use a courier for Sydney deliveries (was it Startrack Express?)

So I am thinking that not posting to QLD maybe something to do with not having a national freight deal or something? Who knows, it's very strange that they aren't national.

      • thanks for letting me know. fair enough. good deal none the less

  • +1

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that with 5000 click throughs purchasing 5 sticks each they won't have the 25,000 or assuming a $10 loss the $250,000 to give away considering they've spent so much money already… I bet we find a polite but firm email cancelling our orders soon… And really if we bitch about it we're pretty much just greedy jerks…

    • i clicked it 50 times before i brought it

  • anyone know when the coupons expire?

    • End of June I think, read somewhere in a previous staples post

  • +2

Has anyone signed up for a new account today, and being flooded with their "Welcome to Staples" Email and "Your Order with Staples" Email ??

I signed up about an hour ago, ordered (once) and am being sent the same 2 emails every 15-20 minutes

    • +1

Think their system has gone AWOL from the load…we've really done it now

  • +1

My sticks have disappeared out of my cart once i added the voucher code, and I can't get them back no matter what I do? sigh

EDIT: Showing out of stock, as of 11:07pm 6th June

    • +1

      Not showing that for me.

    • Gone D:
I was silly and waited too long.

Might just get these two instead, only comes to $1 extra -

      http://www.staples.com.au/filing-and-storage/digital-data-st…

      • Your maths are somewhat flawed.

The first one (8GB) is $15, which is $11 more

The second (4GB) one you linked to is $6 ($2 more)

Then you still have to pay the $5.50 delivery :-)

        • +1

Err, what? I'm not comparing it to buying 5x 4gb sticks. That's not what the original deal was anyway, just an option you may choose.

          $21 - $20 coupon code = $1 + $5.50 postage

Personally, I find it to be a better deal if you get an 8gb stick. These are a hell of a lot more useful than a tonne of smaller ones. Each to their own I guess!

  • +1

great bargain if all of the buyers did end up receiving them. well i just put my orders through so hopefully they still have stock when processing my orders lol.
thank heaps to the poster though, keep up with the bargain hunting ; )

    • Hopefully the priority they process orders is by date submitted & order no. So first come first served?

  • Ok that's the fifth time in the past couple of hours that I've received a welcome email from Staples >.>

    • 6th lol

    • likewise getting alot of the same email, I honestly hope our details are safe with the Staples website.

  • +3

I just got myself a cashbox instead of this. Make use of the free $20 for something more useful :p

  • Sold Out!

    • +1

mmm you sure i can still put 99 into my cart and go all the way ill you need to pay for it.

  • Sounds like their systems will crash again, and credit card numbers available for anyone wanting them.

    • How can this happen, CC to everyone ?

  • Officially ozbargained. Tried to add 1 to basket and the following message returned:-

"Sorry, this item is currently out of stock or you have exceeded the quantity limit. Please select an alternative product.
1 * Imation Atom USB Flash Drive 4GB"

  • Found some pics of what the packaging looks like:
    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/IMATION-Atom-4GB-4G-USB-Flash-Dri…

Good to know it even has packaging unlike some that are sold at checkouts just hanging on a rack.
Also says "password protection software" on the pack, so there's bloatware on the drive?

  • its working fine for me. I can add it to my cart no problems.

    • Are you sure that it's getting added?
It's not working here, why did I keep reading all the comments first?
Next time I should buy first then read later.

  • I just checked. There are 63 left in stock. That is the maximum it would allow me to add to my cart.

    • it says it's out of stock (in the pop up window). What is it telling you ?

      • "This item is available only as a partial quantity. 46 of 99 available"

    • Weird, its saying out of stock for me too. Glad I ordered before it got ozbargained.

      • 35 in stock now.

        • 30 NOW

        • 5 left

  • Officially OzBargained and out of stock now.

    • Sorry, this item is currently out of stock or you have exceeded the quantity limit. Please select an alternative product.

      GONESKI'S

  • all goooooooooone!

  • Did I Miss Out :(

The manager is going to be a happy man when he walks in this morning and sees there is literally a thousand overnight orders queue up, thinking about the massive bonus he'll get at the end of the financial year. The smile will be short lived when he finds there is no profit margin in 99.9% of those orders.

    • +1

haha…love to see their expressions when they get a good look at the order~~~
probably write and cancel all the existing orders and refund the money

    • +7

All part of a clever viral marketing plan. If they don't want to give away $20, they wouldn't issue the coupon codes.

They would probably have allowed to run the whole place at a loss for the first few years, just to get a Aussie market presence. Right now, the number one thing is to get the name out there, so people think of "Staples" like they currently think "Officeworks".

Hi Guys. I was put onto OzBargain by a very nice customer service person at Staples.

I had to call them because there was a problem with my order for 5 of these USB sticks (which he said he will fix when they get more stock).

He said the problem was caused by hundreds of people from Ozbargain (which I had never previously heard of), some ordering 200 (or was it 2000?), "smashing" their system!

A little moderation from the biggest orderers might be in order!

Anyway, thanks OzBargain for this great site - & thanks Staples for promising to fix my order.

    • +1

Why would an ozbargainer order 200. They can only use 1 voucher per order so ordering 200 = $800 with $20 off = 780.

Multiple orders would be the only way to go and how many vouchers could you use etc.

BTW talking of multiples - multiple accounts are a no no. Delete one please or we'll do it for you and the choice may not be to your liking.

      • $4 each is still pretty cheap, so maybe they did it in one order.

        • can you get a 200 port USB hub ?

        • @jv. You thinking what I'm thinking? 200 USB drives in raid config? LOL

        • LOOK - the hardware IS becoming available…

          http://www.vconsole.com/images/fcd_usb_60.jpg

ROFL - just need a server rack to mount 'em in!

      • To the ghosters: go get a life, you ain't funneh.

But I'm enjoying the comments that are failing simple arithmetic :)

      • To point out the obvious, they wouldn't necessarily need multiple OZbargains accounts, just multiple accounts on Staples using different emails etc.

        • Err, it's just some dude who thinks he's cool by making a new account and posting a random comment (thinks he's HILARIOUS too) hence ghosting.
Ozpete wouldn't care about multiple accounts on Staples.

    • Welcome to ozBargain! You've been struck by the ozbargain effect: http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=ozbargain

    • Hmm.. I suggest Staples tell us where this person lives so we can issue some Ozbargain justice.

  • Anyone had a confirmed shipping email yet?

    • +1

received mine, saying my order has been dispatched which was placed around 5pm yesterday. cheers!

      • I must have only just missed out, I ordered at exactly 5:01pm and just got the out of stock email.

  • +1

I just bought one. Why do you guys need 5? Why not spend the $16 on coffee or biscuits instead :)?

    • Because after the coffee has been drunk and the biscuits eaten, what will you have other than a full belly? That said, I've mixed my orders around between hardcover a4 books, pens, markers, paper, and a box of tissues

  • I received an email from them an hour ago, "Your card has been charged and your order is on the way". Sweet!

    • +3

My order is still "confirmed" - 5 or 6 times, actually.

Maybe the multiple emails were a kind of "Reverse Ozbargaining"?

      • +2

Maybe they are "ozbargaining" us back !

  • no confirmation yet ordered 6pm… doesn't look good.. anyone given them a call yet??

    • +2

Stop being impatient, Staples upheld the $35 1TB deal, no need to panic yet.

      • true, they did.. last time they had to move stock between states to get the numbers out.. my hdd got delivered late as they had to move it from NSW to vic :)

      • what brand was the 1TB on offer last time? and was it desktop or portable? can't believe i missed out on that

        • Verbatim USB3 actually a very good quality unit.. metal case and all 3.5 desktop unit..

        • Desktop ~ It's Verbatim Outside, Samsung Inside. F2 1TB Spinpoint.
USB 3.0, although that means nothing when the F2 Spinpoint is an eco drive [5400RPM].
I got one for $50 when it first came out, before the $20 vouchers :(

          It's a huge brick though.

  • Looks like I missed out. All I get is"

"Sorry, this item is currently out of stock or you have exceeded the quantity limit. Please select an alternative product."

  • I good use of all these USB sticks / SDHC cards is 'Readyboost' in Windows 7.

From what I've read not much use than using about a few GB per drive…. because of the way compression works

    Quite a speed increase!!

    • +1

I reckon $1.10 per computer that I use at home and work is worth it for a readyboost improvement in speed. What a great idea, eagleanthony. Thanks !!
