Anybody wants to highlight anything or all okay to proceed?
Note: By default 8GB RAM selected so please don't forget to select before adding to cart for 16GB ($0.0) charges.

    • Dont forget shopback or cashrewards

      • +2

I think Cashrewards is currently at 4.88% for Lenovo.

    • +5

Monitor brightness is average at 250 nits. For comparison the Huawei Matebook X pro is 450nits and the Dell XPS range around 410.

      • +2

How many nits satisfy you mate?

      • You seem to be the good kind of nitpicker :)

        • Nitwit

    • Sorry did I miss adding something when I listed the deal?

      • Naah, you did great!
It's just good to find some additional info before hitting the go.

  • -6

How many ideas can this hold?

  • +1

I think there's %13 cashback too via shopback?

  • +3

I'm in love it's so beautiful. It's a good do everything kind of laptop.

  • +1

I was tossing up buying this laptop all weekend. Shopback currently has 13% cashback for Lenovo which makes it even better.

In the end I decided not to buy for a couple reasons; But mostly because it's a brand new laptop. No reviews, no discussions on it, not even an unboxing video - and I'm a bit concerned about heat management.

Lenovo seem to be a bit average in that department with any non-gaming laptops that have a dedicated video card and for all appearances this laptop looks like one of their bog standard designs with a serious graphics card jammed in it. Which would lead to a lot of throttling from overheating, which would lead to a huge loss in performance, which would lead to the question of why would you spend so much money on something you can't even use?

I might be wrong, it might be fine. But I'm not nearly adventurous enough to be the test subject to find out if this laptop is a lemon or a gem.

    • +2

Unboxing video but in Thai ;)

    • Azmunga, a quick google search brings up a number of reviews for this laptop.

Also there is an unboxing video on Youtube.

      • Link me the reviews please. Because I cannot find them. I might end up buying one yet.

It's a new model. You can get the silver one with 8 gen i7 CPU for around $1700

it would have been an insanely sweet deal if not for the following:
    - 250nit is not terribly bright (i have 300nit panel and often I would like it to be a notch brighter)
    - 45Wh battery is a bit of a letdown for a 15 inch laptop.

I have made a deal with a supplier for a Dell Precision 3530 model that I own as well, and it has i5-8300h, Nvidia Quadro P600 video card with4gb dedicated vram (equal in performance to MX150), 8gb of ddr4-2666 ram, w10 pro, huge 92Wh battery, 256gb ssd, and a color accurate IPS panel 300 nit. can sell it for $1300 let me know if anyone is interested, I would say it's a decent alternative for similar price. brand new and all, 3 year on site warranty.

    • Thats a pretty sweet deal. If I hadnt already purchased this one, I might have taken you up on it.

    • +4

The MX150 is far worse than the 1650 mate

      • +2

I know mate! Depends on what you want to do with it. I work and edit photos on it, and play older titles like HL2 and Warhammer 40000 SM, for that it is more than enough, mate, it doesn't even spin the fan loud enough when I do that on battery! and I get 8+ hours easily from a single battery charge too, mate.

        • upvote for proper Australian etiquette and usage of the word mate.

  • Does anyone know why a thumbnail hasnt loaded for this deal?

  • This is actually an insanely good deal… best i've seen in a while. I'm glad my mac is still working though, 4 years onwards!

    • 9 years here with my Asus N61JQ. Until my toddler broke the keyboard

I added more ram and swapped to SSD still runs very well

      • I'm trying to find an excuse to change my current 7 year old laptop the old Clevo P170EM

mofo just won't die, the old 3840QM/GTX680M/dual SSD/32GB RAM combo is still sufficient these days.

Am I the only one who freaked out at the numpad on this laptop?

  • Its a petty the dont do their LEGION series with more specials. They do the Y530 with a 1050ti 4G units for $1149 approx but they just dont seem to do their GTX 1060 6gb units for decent prices.

Or even their Y740 units are also quite price in comparison to how Dell and a few others mark down.

  • +1

    Is it touchscreen ?

  • I saw this deal with cashback myself with the lower spec Ideapads (iirc s145?) and lo, it’s still way over my budget. Le sigh. Looks like I’ll be buying refurbed and hope the keyboard is satisfactory for me :(

  • +1

Lenovo cashback back down to 4%

But Dell is still at 12%

    (At 3:22am AET)

    • +1

Cashrewards now offering 11% now for Lenovo until the 13th. Not as good as the 13% but much better than 4%.

  • So 1 year warranty only unless you pay extra for three. I thought something like this value should be under statutory consumer laws

Is it necessary to pay for this onsite warranty?

Just thinking it's the same con as extended warranty

    • Consumer guarantees trump statements saying warranties only last 1 year unless you buy the extended warranty.

      • $144.10 for extended warranty. Not much of a bargain after adding it.

        Also Win10 Pro another $114

The same Thai reviewer posted a Thai review which can be translated via Google translate.

  • Is this overkill for an office laptop? At this price specs are pretty decent compared to an office laptop at this price.

    • Dealers choice really. I bought one and I don't really need a gamers laptop and its more for general surfing. However its nice to have the option of gaming if I want to later on down the track.

      • How's the Jedi kit? any good?

        • Havent got it yet. Maybe check out some youtube reviews?

        • It arrived today before the laptop. The box is quite impressive. About to give it a whirl later.

          • @nedski: Cool. I'm thinking of getting it

            • @neonlight: Finally gave it a whirl today. Not bad for $1. I dont know about people paying $400 when they first came out.

              • @nedski: Cool how.is the overall experience of this laptop

                • @neonlight: Oh that hasn't arrived yet. It has to be built then shipped. I will post something when it arrives.

  • Anyone see this - same laptop $100 cheaper. Cannot work out the difference except maybe 1 hard drive less?

    https://www.lenovo.com/au/en/laptops/ideapad/ideapad-l-serie…

    • Yeah that's doesn't have the 1TB mechanical hd but has 256GB SSD instead of 128GB. Also, you can't get the free 16GB ram upgrade.

      • Yeah I initially ordered that one, but I preferred the option of being able to put a 1TB ssd in there and have 16gb of ram.

        • Yeah it's funny tho that it's free ram lol but costs a little extra

  • Anyone know if this can be charged from a powerbank via the usb-c port? Or any other method really

  • Bought yesterday to ensure 11% cash back… But looks like it
    Has been extended until 16th.

    • That's with cash rewards? what is the code or you mean shopback

      • Cash rewards yes. No code, just click through and it tracks

        • I went to cash rewards did not see the offer except the other two with special coupon. There was no link.

          Shopback had 11%

          • @neonlight: It was there and worked for me…. But just use shopback then

            • @betheball: Looks like both shopback and cashrewards have reverted back to 4%. Anyone have idea as to whether the cashback % will go back up before the end of the month when this deal finishes?

It's one great deal with at least 10% cashback.

  • Anyone received there's yet? Looking at jumping on board but lack of reviews is holding me back. Battery life is my main concern, doesnt seem great?

    • Mine just shipped today. I think the battery life will be fine based on what they are saying, but the fast charging tech will be nice.

      • How are you finding it after a week of usage?

        • Yeah hasnt arrived yet. Its currently in Sydney.

However the spare power charger did arrive today.

          • @nedski: I ordered mine last Monday and it arrived yesterday. The expected delivery date was 3rd July and was surprised it came so quickly.

The laptop so far has been good for my wife that plays a bit of games on the side. Have to play games on low settings to get past 60fps but overall, we're happy with it.

    • Same here, keen to pull the trigger but want some feedback to confirm performance and build are as good as it seems on paper.

    • New Russian review, need Google translate do it's thing: https://www.notik.ru/information/topic/6807.

Just saw the Dell Inspiron 15 7000 deal for $1,379 which is similar but only 8GB of RAM but there's a Youtube video of a guy who reviewed the Dell, and upgraded the SSD and RAM himself: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=88dDq9R26rg&t=1s.

Interesting to see that the Lenovo has some heating issues in the Russian review and from a gaming perspective the reviewer was a bit let down but for me gaming is not the primary purpose.

  • The other thing I'm now looking at is this versus the Y530 legion, they look to be very much the same apart from this being newer and i think the legion is bigger battery, whether that equates to better battery life idk

    • just bear in mind the bigger the graphics card the bigger the huge power pack that comes with it.

I got the HP Omen Geforce 1070

My god the power cord is literally 1-2kg by itself

  • guys, have you guys have any idea about Metabox Alpha-X NH58RA? It feels the same as L340 and even better!

  • any one got their laptop yet?

    • Yep mine just arrived. Currently sitting on my desk and cant wait to open it when I get home.

      • Sounds exciting!!!!

        • I will post my thoughts on it when I get a few hours with it tonight.

          • @nedski: Cool, Thank my man

          • @nedski: looking forward to it

            • @AussieMark: I opened it last night and did the initial setup but couldn't do much more because it was late.

              Build quality looks nice though.

I will put it through its paces later today, including running 3DMax on it and installing Destiny 2

              • @nedski: Hi mate do you have problem with the screen of this laptop? I received mine yesterday, I immediately noticed the display looks very yellow comparing to my old laptop.

                • @scoyzt: Nope, white as white can be.

Im just going through doing a fresh install of windows and Ubuntu as we speak. Then I will put it through its paces.

        • +1

Have done a fresh install and Run 3Dmark over it.

          Results are here.

          https://www.3dmark.com/spy/7559822

Some initial thoughts about the laptop. Solid build and quiet. Some of the quirks include the backlighting on keyboard not always on. Cant figure out why. Also getting into the BIOS by pressing the Novo button (its similar to the process of how you eject your sim from your phone).

Overall, im very happy with the purchase.

          • @nedski: Backlight will go off if battery is low

            • @AussieMark: That's the thing though.. its on power right now. I wonder if there is a setting or something?

              • @nedski: Ah is your room dark or light

Some of them have a sensor to detect if it's needed. Ie dark room

I prefer mine always on personally

PS I have a different laptop but I'll check tomorrow

                • @AussieMark: Figured it out. Press function key and space and it toggles the backlit keyboard.

                  • @nedski: Nice one lol mine is the same sorry I forgot. Haven't been using my lenovo

          • @nedski: Thanks for the review is overall is it worth the price tag?

            • @neonlight: I was happy with the pricepoint without the 10% cashback. Its pretty sweet with the Jedi Challenges as well.

I have been playing Arkham Asylum on it and it is super smooth.

I would have tried Destiny 2 on it but the 90gb download is a little intense.

  • Did anyone buy one of these and replace the HDD with an SSD and encounter any issues?
