Fish market is the closest i can think of where u can catch live crab..

      • Yeah, I go to this place once a year. Mud crab about $59/kg :)

    • Never been crabbing in NSW but I've heard they catch sand crabs in botany bay in the warmer months. Just a word of caution though, these pots have four entrances, I think your only allowed pots with two entrances in NSW.

      • Oh, did not know that rule. Actually did not catch crab ever. Thank you for your reminder.

        • Not a fan of crabs or spiders but that's easy, just block 3 entries!

I caught crabs using just one entrance. Took almost 2 weeks to get rid of itch.

      • Incorrect 4 entrances on a crab pot is permissible in NSW providing none are on the top of the pot. Link to the requirements.

However if crabbing in Botany Bay a word of caution - I am told there is a lot of pot raiding, so best to set the pot then go fish for a while somewhere you can still observe your float.

    • I've been crabbing up in the Hawkesbury with reasonable success, my understanding was up to 4 witches hat traps per person + 1 crab pot per person in NSW (happy to be corrected).

  • Something for everyone on ozbargain

  • Where can I crab in Victoria thanks

    • Not sure about Victoria, but there should be sand crabs in the estuaries. Might be a bit cold this time of year though.

    • Lakes entrance
