  • Hi rep - whats the latency on this one like compared to the other cheapies out there in terms of conversion? Thinking specifically for older games consoles.

    • +1

S-Video to HDMI Converters are usually very expensive. This converter is S-video / AV to HDMI, so if you only need AV to HDMI converter, then can buy another much cheaper one:$16.99 with code 8QCGEUC4

  • What about going the other way, HDMI to composite ?

  • any videos or pictures of the quality?

i bought a cheapish one of ebay a few months back to hook up my SNES, and the quality came out shit and was practically in black and white.

To get a semi decent HDMI output from a snes is goin to cost you $150 at the very least.

You’d need one of these: https://www.retrorgb.com/retrotink2x.html or an OSSC (gonna cost you over 200 easy).

If your TV accepts SCART or Component (and also happens to accept 240p signals) then you are much better off buying a snes rgb scart cable or a snes component cable like https://castlemaniagames.com/shop?olsPage=products%2Fhd-retr…

If you value picture quality absolutely stay away from cheap eBay ones.

In all honesty it’s cheaper just to buy a snes classic than go down this rabbit hole.

can support this, one of my mates full into his retro gaming and whatnot. played some old school games at his house the other day, saw he had this device attached (OSSC), explained all the mumbo jumbp to me - for a purist you definitely need to fork out if you want the best in quality

      • yea,,.,. i figured =(

  • Hi Rep - I have 8MM Sony hand held video recorder (bought in 1995). It has Yellow/Red/White plug in cables. Can I plug this unit to the Sony 8MM and get HDMI quality picture on the TV? Can this unit be used in this way and if yes, can I record it in higher video quality some how? Thanks in advance.

      1. This unit doesn't have any record function, it's only a converter or a adapter.

      2. So actually you can plug this unit to your Sony 8MM and get HDMI picture, because it's a SVIDEO/RCA to HDMI converter. But to meet this requirement, you only need to buy a RCA to HDMI converter:$16.99 with code 8QCGEUC4 (much cheaper).

      3. This unit can convert SVIDEO to HDMI too and that's why it's much expensive.

  • Hi Rep,

    Any deals on these?

    1x4 HDMI Splitter - https://www.amazon.com.au/1X4-HDMI-Splitter-Amplifier-Distri…

  • Hi Rep - a few questions.

I got one of these units and it arrived. With my N64 via Svideo the reds are utterly messed up (like the preditor effect is on) and on the SNES, no matter what cable (Composite, Svideo) or if running at 50hz or 60hz it only outputs a black and white image.

Is my unit faulty or is this unit just very, very limited.

Also you list 480i and 576P, however these two output resolutions are not on my unit?

EDIT: Also all cables and systems work fine outputting to my CRT TV.

  • The majority of S-Video cables for these consoles aren’t wired correctly and just pass compsite video through the S-Video connector. That could be your problem.
