  • is Netflix working again on android devices using this?

    • +1

I use Windscribe for Netflix. They have dedicated Netflix servers for the US, UK, Canada and Japan.

      • I use windscribe aswell but didn’t know I can use it for us Netflix

        • +1

They call it Windflix US. (has to be a paid subscription, it's not available on their free service)

      • How fast is Windscribe Netflix? I think I only get HD quality on PureVPN, sometimes it's just so bad

        • +2

Windscribe is excellent for me (paid service), haven't got exact speeds but it's been perfect so far and at a great price.

        • +1

Seems ok. I just watched Avengers Infinity War on it. No buffering.

        • Fast speed and I can stream in Ultra HD 4K

      • +1

it is slow as crap…. I dont know whether should ask for money back, can anyone help if i m doing something wrong.

      • +1

Can I expect the same with prime video? Would I have better titles using VPN for Amazon prime?

        • Amazon prime doesn’t work on windscribe. It picks up the VPN and blocks the stream.

  • How does this service compare to pia?

    • +2

      Significantly slower.

      • Why was it down voted when it absolutely true.

      • I can attest to this. Its SOOOO much slower then PIA that I cant stream video from USA with Nord. I regret buying the three year deal with them.

        • I tried Nord but had to get a refund. I was only getting 10% of line speed. One thing that did improve it to 50-60% was changing the DNS. I suggest you try that if you haven't. You can contact their tech support for a preferred one try 1.1.1.1 and 8.8.8.8

  • I still have 1.5 years left , is this stack-able ? Thanks

    • I dont know unfortunately

  • +1

You get the exact same price via Shopback ($107.55 for three years) but then you get 55% of the cash back (new NordVPN customers only).

    https://shopback.com.au/nordvpn

    • +1

I'd double check the actual cash back received as a few percent seems to get lost in conversion.

  • +1

The actual price is USD $118.30 because they add GST 10% onto the price.

    • +2

Maybe use a VPN to look like you're somewhere else first? O_o

  • I'm waiting for PIA deal, I heard Nord is really slow.

    • +1

Gone from PIA to Nord and have had nothing but woes. Most times pages don't load properly, or slowly despite solid speed test, and for the most part Amazon won't load. CS advised changing DNS to Cloudlflare, yet still didn't fix it, and customer service didn't acknowledge problem with Amazon not loading despite the problem being wide spread and frequently commented on forums.
Have previously used it and been happy. Has anyone got any tweaks to optimise it for a smoother hassle free experience?

      • +1

Did the same recently and disappointed. Nothing seriously broken, just a fair bit slower - getting terrible speeds on some servers so have to switch around. Slow to connect sometimes in general. Considering just getting PIA again.

        • Now there's over 300 Aussie servers to connect from, wheras before there was only around ten. Once set up and locked on one, could it get overloaded with traffic, whereas before it may have been ten servers but far more capable? PIA only has like two in Aus and they perform very well.

    • It is. Its super slow compared to PIA. I regret buying the three year deal with Nord.

  • Would not work with obfuscated servers in China in iOS. They eventually admitted it. Waste of 1 hour of my life.

  • is Netflix working again on android devices using this?

wasted a day trying to get them to admit it was screwed over a month ago.

  • +2

I've been with Nord for 3 years now, highly recommended. Fast servers all around the world, DNS leak protection, Simple UI on PC and Android.

I havent used their servers for netflix too often but when i did it worked well. Occasionally a server wouldn't work but just try another server they have for that Country and it will likely get through.

    • well a few weeks ago they admitted it was completely broken on android with no fix time, pc still worked though.
so the question remains nord Netflix been fixed yet or not on android? Shield was completely screwed. you could try 50 servers or stand on ya head but it did NOT work.

      • I literally just ran US Netflix on my Android phone perfectly fine. Not sure what's wrong with your shield…

        • nothing wrong with my shield thanks what you are saying that is that nord vpn has fixed its reported and support confirmed broken android issue with Netflix - if anyone believes you I hope you are right.

          • @petry: You don't need to use shield, Android natively supports openvpn connections.

          • -1

@petry: The only time I've ever had a problem running US Netflix with Nord was not long after I first signed up about 3 years ago. The problem was solved by picking a working server.

I've not had a problem since, including immediately before my previous post when I specifically tested because I thought something must have changed after reading your comment. Everything still works fine.

Also, try throwing in some full stops and commas. If used correctly it would certainly make your posts easier to read.

            • -1

@Singu1arity: interesting because clearly you haven't been watching much recently, otherwise nordvpn wouldn't have posted that their android vpn was bust.

I don't think all the punctuation in the world would help you understand that NORDVPN themselves posted it was bust so how you alone weren't effected would be because you are clearly very very special.

            • -1

@Singu1arity: When I spoke with support they said the only way was to watch Netflix on your computer and that it wasn’t guaranteed. I gues the people at nord support are wrong and you are the smarty pants.

              • @bennybaubles: Not sure why the personal attacks are required @petry and @bennybaubles, but whatever.

How about you both try running US server 2976, then the Netflix app, and tell me if it still doesn't work for you. If it doesn't, then I have no idea. It's working perfectly fine for me and I'm happy to post screenshots if you need proof (which apparently you do because I'm obviously too "special" to know what I'm talking about)…

EDIT: Actually, scratch that, here's some screenshots showing that it works.

NordVPN App, connected to US Server 2976: https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/72193/68785/screenshot…

Netflix App, showing US content: https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/72193/68786/screenshot…

Note, I couldn't upload a screenshot of one of the shows being streamed since it just "blacks" out video content with my phone.

                • -1

                  @Singu1arity: ?

'Netflix stopped working on Android boxes, Fire Sticks or TVs when Netflix launched their recent update. Rest assured our techs are actively looking for a solution for this problem, however, we cannot specify an ETA when this would be fixed as the information can be misleading…..

the only solution to watch Netflix on these devices is to hook up an HDMI cable from a desktop device.' Nord vpn support April '19.

So you're saying that nordvpn wrote this to customers only because they didn't know it worked on your phone?

                  • @petry: No. I'm saying it's working perfectly fine for me. I've even provided proof, yet you're still trying to tell me I'm wrong.

I mean seriously, how do I benefit from posting misleading information?

Did you even test it like I suggested?

  • Mac Mini server been connected on p2p server via TunnelBlick for a month. It reconnects on disconnect automatically so no complaint from me since it connected at the beginning of April.

My windows connects via the official app and the connection has been established when pc boots. Not on pc for long time so no complaints there.

I never used it on ios and never used it in china. good to know this may not work.

  • I set the NordVPN program not to auto-start when Windows start up and for some reason when I start my PC, it connects to a server in Melbourne.
If it wasn't because of the cashback promotion, I would go back to PIA.

  • I signed for NordVPN during the previous deal but it was unbearably slow most of the time. Their P2P servers have Ok speeds, still nowhere close to PIA through. Ended up asking for A refund and signed up for PIA again.

  • I signed up for this 2 weeks ago paying $160 for three years. The speeds on the os servers are atrocious. For Indonesia averaging 1-7 mbs on an Aussie B.B. which averages 47mbs That plus the fact that u can’t watch Netflix U.S on a tv although maybe on a computer was another reason why I cancelled the subscription today. I’m with pure VPN which has less servers and no Netflix but works fine for the streaming apps like cinema HD etc.

  • Has anyone used both PIA and Windscribe? Which should I go for for netflix stuff?

    • express vpn pricey but great for Netflix nearly no logs and non 5/9/14 eyes.

  • Wrong deal.
