Ring Security Cam Floodlight $297, Ring Video Doorbell 2 $249, Ring Stick Up Cam $254 @ Bunnings

190

I saw Bunnings had Ring products discounted in-store today and they are discounted online too.

The doorbell 2 is $10 cheaper than Deelaroo's Amazon deal two weeks ago.

The Ring White Battery Spotlight Camera isn't discounted online and is still $328.

Ring Black Battery Spotlight Cam $259 (normally $328)
Ring Black Wired Spotlight Camera $263.20 (normally $329)
Ring White Wired Spotlight Camera $262 (normally $329)
Ring Stick Up Cam Wired - Black $254 (normally $329)
Ring Stick Up Cam Wired - White $254 (normally $329)
Ring Video Doorbell 2 $249 (normally $329)
Ring Security Cam Floodlight - White $297 (normally $379)
Ring Security Cam Floodlight - Black $297 (normally $379)

To keep the video footage for up to sixty days you will need a subscription to Ring's online plans.

I have had a Ring Floodlight Camera and Doorbell for eleven months and are happy with them. Particularly recently when I was able to show the single mum next door video of her kids egging and stoning our house.

  • Great deal! And thanks for info on online plans.

  • The amazon deal did have an increase cashback at the time - but this is a great deal

would love to hear more about the reaction of the kids mum when she saw footage of her kids egging and stoning your house

I think this camera would have worked better for me, however I resorted to other means when I caught the neighbour kids in the act, my actions caused the cops to arrive

    • +1!

We weren't home when they egged (including in through windows) and stoned the house. It was only the camera that allowed us to identify them. The kids were made to come clean it up. But the great thing was my wife who strongly disagreed with me putting the cameras in changed her mind after this incident.

Catching the culprits and proving the wife wrong!!!

These ring products have magical powers!

Highly recommend against then ring door bell and ring doorbell 2 (the battery models). Had no end of trouble with them. I now have two pros and two spotlights and they are excellent.

Ive heard there are delays from when some rings the door bell and when it notifys your phone, so much so that the person is usually walking away by the time you answer. Is this still the case?

    • +2

      Sad to say but yes..

    • +1

It happens a lot of the time.

I've noticed the delay from doorbell press to mobile notification also seems to vary based on the mobile manufacturer. So this might be due to how the notifications are handled on the mobile phone rather than the Ring service itself.

E.g. A household using the latest Samsung all receive timely notifications with the 1 exception of a Huawei user consistently receiving delayed notifications i.e. Huawei mobile rings minutes later, where every Samsung has responded in seconds on different networks.

i notice a 7 second ish delay on mine over 4g/internet (nbn 100mbit hfc to 4g mobile), and about 5 second when I'm at home.

  • Any reason you would go with the wired version over the battery?

    • +1

Better motion detection technology. Can select motion areas in the ring app.
Battery is a bit less customisable

      • Thanks mate, might be handy given we have dogs in the yard and just need to monitor the backyard gate.

Battery just seems a lot more convenient to setup.

        • +2

We are able to select motion areas on our battery model

          • @7hil: Thanks the battery options would be easier for us, as we haven't quite moved in yet and I need to figure out if there is wiring out the back. The floodlight model will actually be particularly handy.

I have a ring spotlight battery (with a solar panel to charge it) and its great . My only complaint is because it’s a battery it takes slightly longer to wake up when it detects motion (compared to a wired version)

    • how long has the battery generally lasted? Thinking about putting on one commercial property

    • If it makes you feel better, the wired version also takes a long time to connect. Often, the person/thing has almost walked by.

      • My battery unit dosnt ever run out I have the solar panel connected. Always 90%+ full . I have a bigger issue trying to keep my house wifi stable !

  • Deciding between this are the arlo 2. Any recommendation?

    • i have both and would say they both have their uses. the ring is really good for answering your door when you're not at home and arlo 2 is convenient for monitoring around your house. if i had to just pick one i would go with the ring although you have to pay for a subscription to store videos.

I have the Ring Spotlight and the Ring Stickup and they're great.great battery life.

The only negative I have with these is the motion activated recording mode only, which in some cases is delayed. Sometimes I get a notification but the recording start was delayed so the start of the recording, I just see the person walking away,or see no activity at all.

I personally prefer the continuous recording that the nest products have

I got Officeworks to price match which knocked another 5% off.

    • Most office works seem to have limited stock?

      • They generally don't stock them in store. I ordered from the online store. Call 1300 OFFICE.

  • Just wondering. Has anyone got/tried the Xiaomi video doorbell?

  • Bought a Ring Doorbell 2 last week. Bunnings at $249, Officejerks at $324. Got OW to match it, $236.

  • Expired was just going to pick one up this weekend, doh.
