    Wow great deal thanks

  • Fantastic find, cheers.

  • Can you use the sensor on garage doors? Battery life on the window/door sensor?

That depends on the distance I think. Bought mine last year, still 100% battery after 11 months.

I used a different contact sensor on a door in the past and it worked. Just keep in mind that your placements important both as the two sensors always need to come close to another (so must be consistent) and also because the door being a huge slab of metal could be bad for any radio signals depending on your placement.

FWIW I have one of the Eve contact sensor and a bunch of the Xiaomi. You need the gateway for the Xiaomi but otherwise the sensors are much cheaper if you plan on getting a few and they are also much smaller than the Eves. I wouldn't say Bluetooths the best option for home automation either unless the devices this communicates with will always be very close. Found the ZigBee used by the Xiaomi far more reliable TBH and there are ways if you are so inclined to make them appear in Apple Homekit, although that is a bit more effort (I use HomeAssistant running on a Pi)

  • Looks interesting, been looking into a hue setup and some smart sensors for a new place - except we are running android phones :(
