Boysoy is great, but "..can't go wrong with Bonsoy…", not according to history.

Can go very wrong with Bonsoy.. https://www.smh.com.au/national/soy-milk-reformulated-after-…

How da hell did they milk a tittie-les almond?
Thus is where milk comes from

    • +3

This is soy milk, not almond

    • Sure, that's where milk for calves comes from. I'm all for renaming almond milk nut juice.

  • -4

    Two words: Almond Milk.

    Soy gives you bitch tits.

    • +15

Eating soy does not give men breasts.

There is no comprehensive evidence to support it.

      • +3

        What about incomprehensive evidence?

Being overweight gives you tits. Don’t see any japanese men, except sumo fighter, with tits despite consuming large amount of soy product.

    • Why not inner east or outer suburbs? They drink Bonsoy too.

  • Soy what?

I'm trying to wean myself off soy milk after becoming an addict again. Is Bonsoy amazing compared to the competition if you just want to drink it straight? I couldn't justify paying so much money for a drink without a lid.

Sorry, AlBoys, but Almond milk is a scam. The unsweetened litre with a handful of almonds thrown in is the closest thing to water you can buy in the supermarket after water itself. It tastes like the water you get when you refill a cup that had milk in it. Same goes for cashew milk.

Rice milk and oat milk are nice but they're basically carbed up soft drinks (the unsweetened rice is technically sweetened by enzymatic breakdown anyway, so that's another loophole). And doesn't it feel weird pouring oat milk on oats? Or rice milk on rice bubbles?

And speaking of milk, have any flatulent folks 'round here tried a2-only milk? I didn't believe it myself but apparently a lot of people that think they're extremely lactose intolerant might instead be having some of the discomfort from BCM-7, a beta-casomorphin produced only by the breakdown of the a1 version of casein. I bought a reduced bottle on its last legs and it was like I barely drank milk. Can't afford to repeat the experiment with the fresh version again.

And yeah, before anyone interjects, I know all the studies, rumours and gross facts when it comes to dairy, soy, and the rest of the mammary-endowed plants that produce milk. So calm your b1tch t1ts.

The question that remains is why did Bonsoy feel the need to supplement w the extra Iodine!? hmmm

      • They were not trying to add just iodine. (Unlike bread where it is deliberately added)

Bonsoy’s website says kombu is known for its mineral content and used “not only for taste and texture but also for nutrition".

    • Second what was said about the almond milk it's shittt

To me, almond milk is the best substitute for cows milk. The Almond Breeze brand is the best one I've tried. As much as I like dairy, I can't deal with the amount of mucus it produces, literally makes me gag not to mention the gut disturbance. Whilst it's true almond milk is mostly water, the Almond Breeze brand has actual ground up bits in it and is also slightly sweeter than the others. At the end of the day, for me it's about how it goes in a nice hot beverage and Almond Breeze goes really damn well!

      • slightly sweeter than the others

This is normally a result of more added sugar, so not always a good thing.

If you're getting 'gut disturbance' from Soy milk, you may have something else going on.

        • Gut disturbance from dairy, I can handle a little bit of sugar over that :)

@tommy-darko: If you like Almond milk in a hot beverage try “milklab almond” it comes out of the same facility as almond breeze but is made with better quality ingredients for a better tasting and frothing product

Almond Breeze has only 2% almonds - Inside Out contains 11%, Pureharvest up to 10%

I think I am slightly lactose intolerant (have no problems with ice cream, yogurt and dairy products other than milk) as when I was younger, a cup of milk would inevitably make me gag, have stomach discomfort or result in a trip to the bathroom.

To answer your question, my family switched to A2-only milk in the past couple of years and I no longer have these issues.

note that Bonsoy has only 15% soybeans - Vitasoy contains up to 21%

  • Good for zombie apocalypses?

  • I’m a happy little soyboiiiiiiii

  • I buy a few months supply of Vitasoy (calcium version) for $1.50 when it's on special. AFAIK almond milk is not worth consuming as it's just lightly flavoued water.

    • +1

Bonsoy > Vitasoy any day of the week

      • +1

        Yep and it ain't close.

      • Better in what way?

    • I just got a Bonysoy to try out. Compared to Vitasoy it seems to have a more creamy taste. Apart from that, not much difference for me.

  • Never tried this before, how is it better than cheaper soy milk?

    • +2

Some prefer the taste and recipe.

    • How is it? It just is!

  • Any other real Asian here laughing their ass off listening to rants over soy and almond?

If you want true Soy/Almond (and even peanut) milk, get a soy milk maker machine so you can make REAL milk from real grains. My machine takes 10min to make real hot frothy soy milk that tastes real not this artificial water crap.

    • Been looking for one that I don’t have to filter. What brand do you use? Do you have to filter still? Some people recommend thermomix but I don’t want to spend 2k!! Been looking at joyoung but keen on other recommendations.

      • mine is JoyYoung brand, the program built in does boiling, blending, boiling, blending…although there are many other modes. I do need to pour it out thru a mesh filter to get rid of the chunks/fibre. It's not that big a pain, just rinse it straight away so it doesn't stick.

    • +1

Asian here, bonsoy is delicious in its own way, and is definitely not artificial water crap. Have you tried it? I like both asian home made and bonsoy btw.

    • Much like home made burgers taste better than the crap they serve at McDonald's? Duh, but convenience is key.
