Nice, thanks. I tried adding 2 to the cart, but only the first pack is discounted.

  • Requires signup. Can a disposable email address be used? Do they accept Paypal? Don't trust them with a CC.

    • +2

I don't see why you couldn't use any email address although that's where the receipt goes too!

You CAN use paypal, infact you can only use PayPal, really.

      • +5

Ok, semi-serious question here, granted it's off on a tangent; but how many here would launch a paypal dispute if they didn't get their 96c pens? :)

Just +/- my comment for y/n respectively if you care to take part in my little poll! ;)

[edit] FWIW, I think I probably would, just on principle!

        • +2

i would, because i'm an ozbargainer!

        • I think people want to use paypal because they're concerned about giving their credit card details to this company. Nothing to do with buying protection.

        • Josh, did you miss this bit: "granted it's off on a tangent"?

I think we all know full well the rationale for using PP in such a small transaction; however, I asked an entirely different question, for an entirely different purpose.

[edit] Ironically, I see below that you may indeed have cause to lodge a PP dispute yourself…feel free to take part in my poll now! :p

        • The "granted it's off on a tangent" comment doesn't do enough to counteract the context applied by the comments you're replying to. IMO.
As for your poll, no i wouldn't dispute for 96c. But i would dispute for $2! :)

    • Thanks for that info. Good deal so I did +1 and I'm very tempted but I have two sharpies and the first isn't near running out so I think I'll go buy a chocolate bar or something with $1. Must be a loser^Wfrugal! ;)

    • OMG, I just checked my disposable email for all the deals I've signed up for lately…you should see the SPAM!!! :o

  • +1

    does this work? reputable seller?

    • Yes, very popular store in USA. I bought from them lots of times, never had any problems.

  • +1

    bought. looks good, only $0.96AUD

  • thanx OP. so cheap and good!

  • $0.96 AUD is breaking my budget a little.. but we only live once ey…

    • you meant eh?

  • +5

Meritline is the US version of dealextreme/focalprice (if that makes sense). It's quite popular on the US bargain sites.

  • +3

Why is this such a big deal (pun intended). You can get a 5 pack of presstik cd markers from Coles for this price and you dont have to wait 2 weeks for it to arrive.

    • +4

To be honest, I've never seen a 5 pack of CD markers at Coles for 96c! What's the common phrase…oh yeah, receipt or it never happened! ;)

      • +1

He pays .96c in petrol and gets a 5 finger discount.

  • lol I get 3 cents discount, pens could be good for rainy days :D

  • Expired? Not yet … just put an order through - worked out to be AU$0.96 on my credit card - bargain for 5x pens, which have some good reviews according to the site.

    • this expired trick is good, it prolongs the code away from those who don't bother to read comments :D

    • Coupon will expire after 800 orders, I thought it will happen before midnight :)

  • Nice.Thanks.

  • havnt expired yet

  • thx got one

  • +2

Yay more stuff I don't need!

  • Awesome deal OP! Thanks for posting :-)

  • Just FYI "Meritline.com only ships to Paypal verified addresses"

    • My address isn't PayPal verified, though I did previously purchase and receive an HDMI cable from them without any issues.

      • +1

Nup, you're stuffed GG…cables are one thing, texta's are another! :D

All your pens are belong to us now! :p

        • +1

+1 for "All your base are belong to us" reference :-)

  • Got one. Really need a new CD pen. My current one is too thick a nib anyway, it's hard to write more detailed info. Thanks.

EDIT: BLOODY SCAM!! Entered the coupon code, it displayed as "99c, you saved $2". Still had $2.99 next to the item up the top which i assumed was just the standard price still showing. Paid via paypal, got charged $2.99. Got scammed. >:(

    • Email them, explain it & ask for a refund…never hurts to try! ;)

FWIW, it almost happened to me. I think it's something to do with putting it in the basket before being a logged in member! All I did was go back, add another, then when the basket came back up with the coupon I just removed the second full priced item…et voila, thru the checkout 99c US on my PP account…96c pending on my CC account! :)

    • Just tried the code again and got this:

System is unable to apply discounts to the following items in your shopping cart:
266-079-005 Black CD DVD Permanent Marker Pen Medium and Fine Tip

      Possible reasons:
      - The coupon code is invalid or has expired
      - You have redeemed the coupon code in your previous order
      - The coupon code has reached the maximum redemption limit

Rather than being scammed, it looks like you lucked out and just missed out.

      • Negative. Read "You have redeemed the coupon code in your previous order". That's why you can't use it again. I actually had the coupon applied.

        • All your coupons are belong to us too! :p

        • Not so, as I was not logged into my account when I re-tried the code, so the site would not have known if I had redeemed the code or not.

      • Yep, in all fairness we were all warned up front on this by the OP…"Hurry, coupon will expire soon."

        • Coupon has not necessarily expired. As mentioned above, the coupon was applied successfully to my order. Also as mentioned, the coupon error code that GreenGuava has received also indicates "you've already redemmed" as a possible reason for the code not working.
          It's not rocket surgery… :/

Anyone who has not already ordered, can you try the coupon and confirm that it is still valid.?

        • Just tried it for you logged out with cookies cleared, it's bad news bears for you Josh, the coupon's expired! It must've happened whilst you were creating your account!

If only you hadn't taken the time first to explain paypal to me unnecessarily before you ordered; oh the cruel irony! :o

Suck it up bro, you snooze, you lose sometimes! Think of the positives though, you still know all about 'buying protection' AND you can still take part in my poll! See, a silver lining already! ;)

        • I think it's not to do with the 19 seconds i spent commenting on buyers reasons for wanting to use paypal. I think it's as you originally said, you applied the coupon, then created an account, and that's when the coupon was no longer applied to the order.

So i think it's good news bears for me, and suck on that for you!! >:]
PS: let me know if you want some more paypal schoolin' biatchey!

Sounds like you're in on the scam…!?

          lol :P

        • Sorry Josh, FWIW you were the only person that responded who didn't understand the task assigned! Not saying you're slow or anything, coz clearly the other guys are telepaths! ;)

I'll tell you what though, you can do a make-up test…please do school us in all you know about PP protection in 25 words or less? Your prize is one expired coupon code! :p

Sucks to be you though…scam, glitch, expiry, whatever - we applied a bit of lateral thinking & got the same pens for 96c that you are now bitching that you paid nearly $3 for…yep, great news for you indeed.

You did get to take part in the poll though precious, can't complain about that eh…you lucky boy you!!! :D

Please do keep us informed about how your $2 PP dispute goes! I'm happy for you to include that as a reference in your PP schooling essay by the way, APA format of course! ;)

  • Ugh, missed out.

  • Was shipping free for this?

    • Affirmative.

    • Did you even look at the page where you could buy them from?

  • +1

Got a refund of $2 from Meritline via paypal, thankyou to them for their understanding. :)

  • Received my pens today. It's my second purchase from Meritline and once again I'm fairly impressed with their speed of shipping. Overall, pretty amazing value for what worked out to be around 97c AUD total :-)
