About to push the button on G7 Plus, at $399 (after discount). Looks magnificent. Got a G5 Plus at the mo, ready for upgrade. Woohoo!

    • Where is it at that price? I've got a G4 Plus which is still going pretty well, even though it's physically bent from (I think) sitting with it on my back pocket. The G7 Plus looks like a great replacement.

      • +2

        I suspect the same store? $499 + 20% discount comes to $399.

        https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Motorola-Moto-G7-Plus-Pre-Order-…

        • Correct!

          • @Wardaddy: Sweet. Decisions… Selling my old phone (Moto Z Play) for $100 (maybe?) could sweeten the deal

        • Nice!
Skycomp just refunded my pre-order due to “unknown eta” which was $450 inc postage. This deal just saved me $50 - cheers!!

Hopefully allphones has a reliable source re: eta

    • Isn't there only a G7, G7 Play & G7 Power?

edit: ah I just found an article mentioning the Plus. I'm in the US at the moment which isn't releasing the Plus, so that's probably why I'm finding limited details.

    • +2

Yes the plus looks like a good deal and it has NFC and a better camera.

      • +3

        And a compass!

      • +3

The G7 from Allphones have NFC. I got it on the previous deal and was playing around in the settings and NFC was enabled.

        • Did you find compass?

  • Got this for my wife from the last all phones deal. Delivered on Friday. She's very happy with the phone so far!

  • -4

If you can handle grey importing and no B28, the Pocophone is around the $400 mark on sale and outperforms this phone.

    • +7

      Yeh, can't handle that.

    • +1

      And no NFC /sigh/

    • +2

Not sure why I'm getting downvoted…pretty sure everything I said is correct?

I did miss the no NFC bit I guess…

Perhaps it's just a personal opinion thing.

Here's some benchmarks between the two:

Why does it say 12 months warranty? Shouldn't all Australian phones come with 24 months warranty?

    • Nope 12mo as per au moto site.. thats a little underwhelming for a rrp $499 phone

  • Thanks OP, ordered the red g7 plus. Upgrading from a Motorola g5s plus.

  • +2

Looks like the only thing the G7 Plus has over the G7 is the Snapdragon 636 vs the 632…is it really that much of a difference?

Previously the Plus models were larger but they both have 6.2" FHD+ screens this time around.

    • +2

Camera differences, dual speakers, plus a compass, important for me.

      • Yeah not having a compass would be annoying for Google Maps. Just seems odd to me that Moto would release two variants of the phone that looked almost identical to any punter who might be looking at them next to each other in a store!

        • +1

I know what you mean. BTW, Google maps works fine without a compass, but I need a compass for fishing and hiking.

  • Ordered the Plus, thanks. NFC.

  • +1

Does this have AC wireless? I assume it doesn't. The ebay page doesn't say.

    The Motorola AU page says:
    Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, 2.4GHz + 5GHz, Wi-Fi hotspot

    GSM Arena says:
    Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, dual-band, WiFi Direct, hotspot

I'm surprised AC isn't standard now.

    • +1

Good point. I noticed the plus version has ac.

  • Do we get G7 power in Australia? Tried googling but no luck.

    • I think so, go to Moto au site. Power is bigger battery but lower spec.

  • Save your money and buy a Umidigi F1 Play

    NFC?
    B28?
    Headphone jack?
    Battery size?

Come on this is 2019, we need more info…

Google is your friend. I don't know you from a bar of soap.

  • The timeframe is a little bit confusing, it says in the title ETA is tomorrow, yet in the listing receipt is guaranteed on the 17th. They aren't necessarily inconsistent, but it seems it might be - is it guaranteed or an estimate? Does anyone know how reliable this is?

Not a picky point, as I'm going O/S for a while on the 22nd.

    • +1

I think it means the G7 is due in to their stock tomorrow, hence pre-order, but I dunno. I bought a Moto X4 from here last year though, it arrived in a few days, no probs.

    • "mattythecapybara" If you were going to purchase this phone or the G7+ you could claim TRS if you received

the item before you went O/S on the 22nd. Was that one of your considerations? Just a thought.

    • +3

FWIW, they shipped my 7+ today, so I guess they came into stock. Est deliver to Vic - Wednesday.

      • +1

Yeah, I actually received my 7+ this afternoon, and I only ordered it yesterday morning (when it was no longer an estimate). Pretty fast!

  • +3
