Lenovo X1 Carbon Gen 6 I8350u 8GB 256GB WQHD LTE $1780 + Delivery (Free with Pickup or Bank Transfer Payment) @ Zoombiefone

2180

Hi there,
I have a tiny business that sell used mobile phones. Normally, we don't have deals for Ozbargain members because our volume is too low. But I've managed to secured some brand new X1 Carbon Gen 6.

The specs are:
iu-8350u
8GB RAM
256GB SSD
WQHD screen
LTE 4G built in

To build the same configuration on Lenovo's website, it will cost you $2834. This is Australian stocks with 3 yrs return to base warranty back by Lenovo Australia.

You can pay via PayPal or bank transfer on our website. But because we are a small business, PayPal want 2.6% fees. I think this money is wasted so I'm offering free shipping to anyone who pays via bank transfer. You can come to my little shop near Darling Harbour to buy it in person.

Price is inclusive of GST, get yours today in time for the tax season write off. :)

Edit: Price drop to beat the sleuth member who found it at $1799.

Did you actually compare the two? They're not the same spec.

    • This is the WQHD screen.

  • Just pay another $100 and you can get the same specs with i7

Great deal! but gonna wait for a 16GBs RAM deal for music production before I give in to buying one of these.

  • Besides the little guy why is everyone upvoting this low spec laptop?

    • +3

It's a business class laptop with LTE component built in, and its new.
      Decent specs

      • But it has only 8GB RAM and a small 256GB SSD that isn’t upgradable? confused

        • +1

This is a business laptop and is top of the line in that context, it's not intended for personal use or anything which is graphics intensive. No need for it to be upgradable as the target audience is more likely to buy a new run of hardware than service each device. That's how I'm looking at it at least.

          • @Sajoh: SSD is upgradeable I think? Not the ram though

            • @crentist: Correct SSD can be changed out
8GB RAM still isnt enough though these days

          • @Sajoh: Define business? Spreadsheets, Internet Browsing, playing a video. How about Photoshop and multiple browser tabs. That’s going to eat RAM and CPU very quickly

Yeah, that's a very common use case. Us tech-oriented people need to remember that there are lots of non-techy people who look at work laptops purely as business tools. They'll open documents, spreadsheets, read emails, maybe a website or three, and when work is done, they'll shut it and go watch TV and maybe browse some websites or Facebook on their iPad. They have zero interest in opening 15 Chrome tabs looking for deals and comparing product specs while playing a video in the background and whatever else.

That is the target market for these X-series business laptops, and seeing that they've been selling the X series at high prices for the past 14 years, there's clearly a market for them.

              How about Photoshop

Nobody would buy this X-series ultraportable laptop for Photoshop use - they'd buy a laptop with a full-fat CPU and a GPU for that, like the P series ThinkPads.

            • @motion2082: This laptop doesn't have great graphics capacity, as for RAM it's not like you'd be running multiple VMs on this thing. By business I guess I meant Office suite, presentation software, emailing and very light work in creative software like the Adobe Suite.

              • @Sajoh: A lack of GPU is a real bummer. The panel quality is exceptional though. Tossing up between this and a X1CE but FHD 15.6 matte display which may be a huge letdown. Have until Wed to decide

                • @motion2082: This YouTube vid mentions something I hadn't considered about FHD, "WQHD doesn't work well with 1080p external nightmare, windows resize constantly when moving between screens." Something else to consider. :)

That's not an issue now, as Windows 10 supports independent per-monitor scaling. I have users who happily use their Surface Pros (2738x1824) and Surface Laptops (2256x1504) with secondary 1920x1080 monitors.

                    • @eug: Thanks for sharing that! Sounds good.

          • @Sajoh: "top of the line in that context"

Not with 8GB and 256GB storage it isn't.
It's decent, but it's a mid tier offering at best for a top of the line model

16GB would be nice as most LPDDR laptop now is.. :'(
SSD should be easily user replaceable unlike some fruity products.

@cwongtech: Shame there aren't any deals on the 16GB 512GB SSD model, as for replacing/upgrading in the Thinkpad family I would throw the T480 out there.

              • +2

                @Sajoh: 16GB/512GB X1C at $1800 would be a great deal

  • Just ordered - thanks OP!

  • Well done… please come back if you have the X360 any time soon!

Thanks Zoombie for the smooth transaction today! Note that your X1 device includes the IR camera upgrade, which is why the Thinkshutter feature is not available.

  • Battery wattage?

  • Just bought mine in store today. OP is a great guy. Tirelessly answered all my questions and gave me a great demo. Paid via credit card with no extra charge FTW.
