80

I was in Office Works today (Carlton (Kogarah Bay)) and found this printer deal for $28. I think that a cheapest printer I ever saw + you get one year warranty.

I love how the price of the cheapest ink available for this printer is nearly the price of the printer 🤔

    • lol 😂

      • Imagine not bothering to get a new pack of ink everytime it runs out, but buying the whole printer again - You save about $30 (price of coloured ink)

        • That's what I do. Still got a 2120 in fact.

For some reason certain people get very annoyed at this behavior instead of blaming the billion dollar corporation operating in the free market that is causing the behavior. Like I should be subsiding them or something completely crazy.

@Diji1: Sure, it's encouraging this behaviour rather than causing it. At the end of the day, if you think that it is reasonable to send appliances to landfill when almost new just to save a small amount on ink costs (remember that the printer comes with a small starter version of the ink cartridge(s)) then you're at least as much to blame as the manufacturers for this environmental craziness.

The ink that comes with the new printer is a starter pack, meaning there’s less than 1/3 of the ink in it compared to a new ink

I think historically this is on the higher side for this printer. Has been as low as $15.

Just click the Related Products on the upper right. Historical low is $11.90. $28 is simply the normal price.

      • Holy crap I though I was doing well paying $14.

    • so should this be a neg?

      • +1

I wouldn't go that far. I think it's the cheapest price right now.

    you get one year warranty

    I think you'll find that's pretty standard …

  • HP printer? Yeah i know how this works. They sell me a printer cartridge conveyance device ("printer") that forces me to buy over-priced proprietary printer cartridges that are designed so that they are almost impossible to copy or re-use.

Never ever again. Screw you HP but thanks anyway OP.

    • It makes more sense to just buy more printers rather than ink refills and sell the "empty" printers.

Just kidding no one wants them.

    • Exactly. I got sucked into the same thing and end up spending much more than I wanted on ink which ran out very regularly. And using the ink refills weren't really working properly so had to keep getting genuine cartridges. Decided to dump the whole printer and spend a bit more on one that was more efficient.

    • To be fair, this is a half decent flat bed scanner which works even when there is no ink in the printer.

      • Oh it's a scanner as well!

    you get one year warranty.

and about 50 pages worth of ink…

Buy this new each the ink cartridge runs out

  • Anyone ever found out what is the most economical home printer taking into account ink cartridges and everything?

My current ancient printer I can get cartridges a 20 pack for $12 from ebay but something is causing it to print lines all over the place and gaps incorrectly so needs a replacement as it is not working 100% anymore and I feel like repairing wouldn't be economical.
