        If they "have to come and quote" then it generally won't be in your budget. That's my rule of thumb lol.

        Just like when altec came and quoted my pergola. They were 4x the price of what we ended up paying.

  I know this is targeted at Victoria, however the laminated + veridian option is a pretty good compromise between $$ and heat transfer / loss. The Veridian is brilliant with direct sunlight - good light transmission and reduces radiated heat. Double glazing was way off the scale price wise for a large north facing home.

    I have taken qoutes from 4 different companies & 2 individuals. Regency's quote was second highest & around 10% of my property's value :)
    But I have 2 sliding door exits to my backyard ( one from the side)
    I hope that gives you an idea. If u r value/cost conscience then better to look for a tradie rather than a company. But in any case go visit some of the properties they have worked on.

        Didn't go for any. Installed reflective films & got solar inverter+ panels instead. For $2600(after govt. Rebate) loss of cooling is not a problem anymore. Will go for electric blankets and room heaters for winters.
        All this and it will still be lesser than the cost of replacing one sliding door in my home.
        This is what one of the tradies who install these for a company told me- If safety against break-ins is your concern then go for roller shutters. cheaper quality D-glazed windows are not strong enough, are hard to maintain, are prone to fogging n leaks and look ugly.

    There is no usual price as all of our frames are custom made to measure.
