  • lotta screen estate there for price i guess, still sorta meh overall deal, no vote.

  • I would be curious to know what they are worth new at ALDI

Last I saw for this model, $599! ;)

The new generation had just been released at $799 with updated model i3 CPU, 4gb RAM & 640gb HDD!

  • Big screen but small resolution

  • hmm i dont know… with a 17" screen I generally want either HD resolution, real video card or both. This has neither and $600 doesn't seem like a bargain for older gen i3's when newer options have been hitting this price bracket lately. Not a bargain in my mind though I'll hold back from negging it.

EDIT: Oh, 1600x900 isn't so bad I guess. still the principle above remains.

  • only if it had a better graphic

  • Why do people want a screen larger than 15"? 17" is hardly considered 'mobile computing'.
I guess if you are buying it as a desktop replacement to sit on your office table and need the extra screen real estate then it might be viable. Although I would be inclined to get a smaller screen and plug into a larger display monitor if needing more screen space while using at home.

  • I called a guy who bought one from Aldi's at just before Xmas time and it cost him $ 799.
He is happy with it but slow on installing software and the screen resolution could be a bit more sharp as it has a dull look like it is shining thru plastic and not glass.
    His words.

Uh.. ex-demo? So how many are actually available at that price?

  • nice weapon to carry and walk 10 min on each hand - no further exercise would be required!

  • +2

This is not a bargain. For the same money you could get an Asus or Lenovo

    • Have to agree. Would be silly wasting your money on this offer.

  • +1

Yeah same here, just kinda meh.
It's OK but I don't really want a "demo" model and I'm sure there's way better bargains coming down the line.

    Care factor =zero

    • Aren't their demo models behind locked transparent glass cabinets, away from vying hands and customer abuse? Condition should be fine I reckon.
